I support atiku on this, even if he might not win in court,he should push for electoral reform.Nigera cannot continue like this, were a group of people will decide to rig in their favor.Things must change,so that anyone who emerge winner will be purely on peoples choice.PDP primary was a typical example,it was transparent which was the reason non decamped.
Atiku won't get anything from the court. Remember the judge who could av placed a judgement favourable to Atiku on the open market and for sale , has been eliminated from the scheme of things. Yo know, Atiku thought he could play smart, but the APC outsmarted him in his own scheme, they knew from inception, even before Justice Onnoghen was confirmed as CJN, that he had some dirts on him, but they decided to play along. In the long run, You'd realize we were all played, both by the APC & the PDP.
In the end again,it is the politicians against the masses.

PoliticsRe: Igbo Presidency In 2023 Dicey – APGA Chairman by akintunde63: 11:08am On Mar 01, 2019
sarrki:
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr Victor Oye, has said going by the pattern of voting in the Saturday’s presidential poll in the South-East, the possibility of the Igbo producing the President of the country in 2023 is dicey.

The South-East geopolitical zone voted overwhelmingly for the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Amawbia, near Awka, the Anambra State capital, Oye blamed the Igbo for always putting their “eggs in one basket.”

He said the Igbo should stop playing politics of emotions and face what he called the “reality of the country’s monolithic political structure.”

He said, “For me, I believe the Igbo play more of politics of emotion than politics of pragmatism. They are not realistic; they always pander to emotionalism.

“Everything to them is all about a particular interest. Once they make up their mind to go towards a particular direction, that is where a sizeable number of them will go.

“So, I’m not optimistic about 2023 Igbo presidency going by what has happened now.”

He said the Igbo should come together as a people to discuss their common interest.

He added, “Their common problem is unity. They cannot always come together and they are easily swayed by extraneous things as demonstrated in the last two elections of 2015 and 2019.

“Igbo should realign themselves and re-determine the options before them.

From what happened last Saturday, the Igbo people worked as a team; but in the end, they lost. They won the battle and lost the war.

“ They asserted themselves, showing they can make things happen. It shows that if they pool their resources together and work under one political party, they will make more foray.

“Ndigbo need to play at the national level and not ethnocentric regional politics, knowing that Nigeria is a monolithic political structure.”

Politics is a game, one of alignment and positioning, but unfortunately, the Igbos have refused to align nor position themselves in a spot that could be even be nominated to be president, let alone, become one. In 2015,they put their eggs in a basket which they were warned against, later they started, complaining of SE & SS marginalization, whereas PMB even made some giant stride development than Jonathan did. In 2019 they have made the same mistake again, and I'm pretty sure they will start complaining of being sidelined and marginalized again when PMB reveals his new cabinet.

PoliticsRe: Atiku Abubakar: An Omen Worse Than Defeat by akintunde63: 7:31am On Mar 01, 2019
Freddyjimoh:
As the final results of last week’s presidential poll were released, three broad groups emerged: Those genuinely surprised that the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, lost; those in pretentious denial of his defeat; and those in a quandary because they hoped to profit from a stalemate.

The first group comprise those who expected that the electoral math would be significantly affected by the farmer-herdsmen clashes in the Middle Belt; the fragile economic recovery and job losses; the widespread feeling of a captive government; and, finally, the shambolic party primaries.

The opposition, actively supported by a few vocal religious leaders and a section of the business elite, hammered the ruling All Progressives Congress on these points throughout the campaign that it seemed February 23 would deliver the final nail in President Muhammadu Buhari’s political coffin.

If the leadership of the APC was sufficiently threatened by the potential pitfalls ahead, it didn’t show it. On the contrary, the public faces of the party’s three most dangerous politicians – Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi and Adams Oshiomhole – kept stoking the fires.

In what must have come as a rude shock to those genuinely surprised by Buhari’s reelection, however, he lost only marginally to Atiku in Benue with 7,587 votes and, for the first time, won in Nasarawa, a traditional stronghold of the opposition. He lost in the North Central by 104,239 votes (less than one per cent of the votes he scored in 2015), but it was his second-best performance in five races so far, defying the Armageddon predicted.

Why? In a contest in which the two leading candidates were Hausa-Fulani, the whispering campaign in many religious circles that the Hausa-Fulani is the worst evil that has befallen the region since Satan, didn’t seem to make much sense. Voters probably decided that Buhari was the lesser of two evils, ignoring clerics who had begged them, on their knees, to vote otherwise.

Also, the demographic changes in the region may have strengthened the Hausa-Fulani population and significantly improved its voting power. In Kwara, Abuja took the three-and-a-half-year-old war with Senate President Bukola Saraki to his doorstep in Ilorin, stoking a catastrophic “Otoge” rebellion against the Saraki dynasty; while in Makurdi, voters didn’t seem sufficiently impressed with Governor Samuel Ortom’s identity politics to give Buhari the resounding rejection the governor campaigned for.

Those in pretentious denial of Atiku’s defeat have a different problem. They built a castle of myths and could not bear to see their fancies crumble. One of such myths was that the perception of Atiku as a corrupt politician and the PDP as a crooked party would not stick.

It’s not their fault. In some respects, the poor choices of Buhari’s government in the last four years created a situation where some said they would rather have a corrupt government than an incompetent one.

But this moral equivalence is superficial. As I said in a piece entitled: “Buhari v. Atiku: The inconvenient truth,” published on February 15, trust was at stake and on that score, Atiku did not lose on Saturday: “He already lost in 2006 when he fell out spectacularly with Obasanjo and suffered a Humpty Dumpty’s fall. The sum of the ongoing feverish endorsements and lobbying, the extravagant claims of momentum and the fantasy electoral maps would be insufficient to stitch his candidacy together forever again. He’s done.”

And there, hopefully, goes the myth that Nigerians care less about corruption than they do about competence.

Yet the deniers will not stop there. Given how poorly Buhari is perceived in the South East, it was expected that he would probably perform worse than he did in 2015, when he got 198,248 votes in the five South Eastern states. Atiku was expected to bury Buhari in a tsunami of Igbo vote.

I had warned in an article on January 1, entitled, “2019: Facts, fiction, myths, and what matters”, that the myth of a Buhari electoral disaster in the South East was exaggerated. But deniers turned a deaf ear especially after Atiku picked former Governor Peter Obi as running mate. It was comfort medicine for the elite to ignore the facts, but ordinary Igbo people know that even their own kith and kin in Abuja have not served them better in the last 20 years.

Governors control the purse strings of the parties and have significant influence on where and how the votes go. It’s true that Buhari has not overcome the perception of Igbo prejudice. But in the last four years, he has managed to deepen his alliances with a number of governors and influencers in the South East. The result is an improvement in his performance from 198,248 in 2015 to 403,242 this year, when a spectacular defeat was widely predicted.

There, is also, of course, the myth of the influential retired army generals. Following former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Atiku, it was taken for granted that from then on, Atiku was president-in-waiting; which was, in fact, how Obasanjo addressed him, and he was not laughing.

The political graveyard is littered with the remains of former top political officers that Obasanjo has fallen out with, former President Goodluck Jonathan being the most recent casualty. So, when Obasanjo and Buhari fell out, with General T.Y. Danjuma, former military president Ibrahim Babangida and Aliyu Gusau all lining up behind the Otta chicken farmer, it seemed Buhari’s fate was sealed.

Deniers who indulged themselves in this expired tale refused to see the writing on the wall. Obasanjo has had his moment, but he obviously didn’t know when it ended. Nigeria is sick and tired of a self-appointed oracle who thinks it’s his business to tell us who should lead us and when.

Not only that, Obasanjo also thinks it’s his prerogative to decide how long every president must stay in office, and then goes on to judge the next man by a measure of success which he did not achieve in his 11 years of being in charge.

Deniers may continue to worship at Obasanjo’s shrine, but voters who have seen through his decades of hypocrisy and opportunism decided it was time to send the world’s most restless busybody former president on forced retirement.

Obasanjo also belongs to the third group – those who hoped to profit from a stalemate in Saturday’s election. Whatever he may have said about Atiku publicly or told him privately, it’s doubtful if Obasanjo loves Atiku more than he loves Buhari. How could he seriously believe that Atiku would win after damaging his former deputy consistently for 13 years only to seduce him with endorsement three months to a major election?

In any case, how will an Atiku presidency benefit an Obasanjo who puts himself first, centre and last? The profiteer from and mastermind of many stalemates was probably hoping for another stalemate over which he could have become the arbiter in deciding who takes over next on his own terms. But that was not to be.

Whatever Obasanjo could not get from Buhari who he once described as “smart, educated and experienced”, Atiku would have had to sell Nigeria to provide it, a transaction that voters right down to Obasanjo’s polling unit, rejected outright.

Atiku has fought a good fight. No challenger has come so close in the last five election cycles in Nigeria. He should have called it a day before the final results were announced, instead of indulging the judicial wing of the stalemate army, a wing that is currently in fortuitous disarray.

One lesson Jonathan taught Nigeria is that you don’t have to win to be victorious. And it was just like yesterday when one unexpected phone call from him to Buhari put the critics, the deniers and the stalemate army out of business.

Atiku missed that chance. And it could prove worse than his defeat.

Breaking: Atiku presents 6-point demand to Buhari

The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in last week’s election, Alh. Atiku Abubakar has presented a six-point demand to the federal government . Top on the demand was unfreezing of opposition politicians’ bank accounts.

Another major demanded presented to former Head of State and Chairman of the National Peace Committee, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd) was demilitarisarion of sequent polls. Gen. Abubakar led members of the committee to a meeting with Atiku and his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi in Abuja yesterday night. The NPC was expected to meet President Muhammadu Buhari government with the demands . Other demands by Atiku were:

*That accreditation of voters should take place before voting in subsequent elections.

*That there should be no deployment of the military in subsequent elections.

* That INEC should open its back end server to all participating parties.

*That there should be a release of all politicians detained illegally by FG.

A source at the meeting disclosed that Atiku “warned that tensions are building up in the land.” NPC team included Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Bishop Kukah and Rev. Fr Atta Barkindo of the NPC secretariat.

Atiku and his team informed the group that the election of Feb 23 was the worst in 20 years of the return to democratic rule. That it was marked by brazen rigging with no consideration to the will of the people.

They listed the following as the issues they had with the polls:

*Deployment of the military was unconstitutional and in breach of Supreme Court judgement.

*That resultantly, a lot of malpractices between the INEC officers, the ruling party and the military took place to undermine the votes/voters of the PDP.

*That there was collaboration between INEC and FG to undermine the sanctity of the votes of the people.

*That this is the worst election in 20 years. No improvement from 2015.

It was learnt that Gen. Abdusalam and his team pleaded with the PDP flag bearer to avoid anything that could jeopardise the nation’s peaceful co-existence.

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has warned the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to stay away from the State or be disgraced over its planned national protest.

The protest scheduled to take place on Friday (today) had been rescheduled to hold next week Tuesday.

Amosun during a live radio programme monitored by the Nigerian Tribune in Abeokuta, said that the labour leaders were “playing politics” and not sincere with the planned protest.

“l learnt that some people are planning to stage a protest in the state, to be led by the National President of NLC, Comrade Wabba, tell them to stay away or they will be disgraced. They are coming here to play politics, tell them that they will be disgraced,” he said.

Nigerian Tribune recalls that Wabba wrote a letter to the governor on the planned protest over what it described as “anti-workers policies” of the state government.

Commissionership positions will be applied for and only qualified persons will be appointed if United Progressive Party, UPP governorship candidate, Hon.Tony Nwulu is elected the next Governor of Imo State.

Nwulu made the pledge during his ongoing campaign across the 27 local governments of the State.

He said vacancies for various commissioner slots and other political positions in his government shall be advertised and published.

He promised that an international recruitment agency will be engaged to carry out the recruitment process assuring that only the qualified and the best certified to be fit and qualified by the agency shall be appointed.

Nwulu added that this will eliminate favouritism in the appointment of commissioners and other political appointments as it was the case in the past with previous governments.

He also said it is a unique opportunity for politicians and non politicians to serve their State.

He said this measure is aimed at engaging the best brains that will compliment his plans to reposition Imo State and place it on the path of economic prosperity.

He added that this is also aimed at ensuring round pegs in round holes targeted at ensuring that Imo State get the best set of experts in various fields of human endeavour to aid in rebuilding the State plagued by years of bad governance.

"Members of my political party, the UPP, will go through the process of applying for cabinet positions. Members of other political parties are also encouraged to apply and if they are deemed qualified by the international recruitment agency who will conduct the process of engaging them, they will be appointed as Commissioners or other appointments

Nwulu stated that the task of rebuilding Imo State is a serious business and a collective task for well meaning Imolites and not the prerogative of a select few.

PrettyCrystal:
Read the press statement below.

Caretaker Chairman of Brass Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Isaiah, escaped death on Sunday night as heavily armed military men launched an attack on his official residence in Twon-Brass, Headquarters of Brass Local Government Area.

The chairman who was in the building at the time of the ambush, was having a meeting with members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the outcome of the presidential and national assembly elections held on 23rd, February.

Victor Isaiah was not injured during the attack as he was quickly whisked away to safety by his police orderly, but some members and supporters of the PDP sustained various degrees of injuries when escaping the bullets from the berserk military men, leaving others psychologically traumatized.

The soldiers, after surrounding the premises, gained access into the chairman's apartment after breaking through the doors ransacking the various rooms and made away with an undisclosed sum of money and valuable documents.

Speaking to newsmen in Twon-Brass on the attack, the press secretary to the chairman Tamaradoubra Benedict Owei Benjamin, confirmed the unfortunate incident, describing it as wicked and inhumane.

He said "the heavily armed soldiers broke into the chairman's residence through the back gate at about 7:20pm Sunday night when the chairman was in a meeting with PDP members and supporters who had earlier staged a protest against the INEC for accepting the fake Nembe-Bassambiri results"

According to Benjamin, "The meeting was ongoing peacefully when the soldiers invaded the premises and ordered everyone including the chairman to raise up their hands and lie on their stomachs. But before the chairman could identify himself, the military men opened fire on the innocent citizens holding a peaceful meeting wounding scores of them"

He explained that the attack was an assassination attempt on Hon. Victor Isaiah for standing up against the federal government controlled Nigeria military and saying No to the daylight robbery and bias of INEC.

1. Knowing fully well that there is a corruption tag hanging around you, why shouting "you will sell NNPC up and down "
What's the essence of the noise?
And about selling it, to whom?
Likely himself through a proxy and his friends,
That NNPC brouhaha depopularise him.
He should learn how to keep his mouth shut most times.
Does he know how many people lost their jobs when Nitel was sold,
Many Nigerians especially northerners were not comfortable with that selling of NNPC thing.

2. He didn't prepare well against rigging and malpractice.
This is Nigeria where elections comes with drama, his presidential campaign organization should have put in mechanism in place to counter that.
And BTW who was the campaign director?
Oh Saraki, who was more focused on retaining his senatorial seat to no avail,
Their whole planning was poor!
.
3. Atiku needs to ask himself why he was unpopular in the north?
I never knew that he was this unpopular,
Losing your polling unit to buhari is a big embarrassment please,
Let's be frank, Buhari smashed the northern votes,
We thought atiku will divide the northern votes, but what we saw was disheartening.
Look at south where his vice president aspirant, Peter Obinna came from, PDP won the highest number of votes in the south,
That means that Peter Obi delivered.
To my suprise, the PDP votes from South west was very impressive
What is Atiku excuse for the poor performance of PDP in the north from where he is from?

.
4. Dear Atiku,
I tried for you,
Supported you,
Voted for you
But hope you are aware, that the buhari you can't defeat, you joined hands in pushing him to aso rock in 2015?
When you were in APC, you left APC, ran back to PDP that you helped in removing from power and now you can't defeat APC and buhari.
Maybe it is karma fighting back!
Who knows!

Dear Atiku Abubakar

No need of going to court, it will be subjecting yourself to more ridicule.

Likely himself through a proxy and his friends,
That NNPC brouhaha depopularise him.
He should learn how to keep his mouth shut most times.
Does he know how many people lost their jobs when Nitel was sold,
Many Nigerians especially northerners were not comfortable with that selling of NNPC thing.
.

Who knows!

.
Dear Atiku Abubakar
Accept the defeat in good faith
No need of going to court, it will be subjecting yourself to more ridicule.
You are still a billionaire.
Try again in 2023
But certainly NOT in PDP.
Thank you.
From Oriaku Amarachi
cool cool
PDP didn't just lose , they actually lost before the election itself. They lost the moment they chose Atiku as their flag bearer. They lost the moment those set of corrupt oligarchs declared their interest to seek the party's nomination.
Atiku was unpopularly known to be a thief. Saraki was also a widely acclaimed thief and schemer, someone who stabbed his own party in the back. Jonah Jang also looted Plateau state treasury...

While the nation is under intense pressure all thanks to INEC who has broken the world record by counting the presidential results in 4 days now, the president seems to be keeping tab too of the latest development and live from ICC..

See pictures below..
I've said before that the alliance between Atiku and Obj was an UNHOLY one which God would not allow to prevail upon Nigeria. Although they gathered against Nigeria, but God dismantled their evil plots
Indeed we serve a living God

Thank God that Business man disguising as Judge, Onnoghen, is out of the way! No wonder the PDP started wailing as soon as the corrupt judge was removed, they knew their plan was shattered

PoliticsRe: INEC Set To Declare Buhari President-elect, With Over 15m Votes by akintunde63: 7:08am On Feb 27, 2019
domesifa:
The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to announce President Muhammadu Buhari president-elect, following the collation of results of the 23 February election.

President Buhari crossed the 15 million mark in votes scored in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He polled 15,191,847 votes, winning in 19 of the states, after the result of Rivers was added.

His main challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 10,782, 007 votes and won 17 states and Abuja.

Buhari also satisfied the constitutional requirement of making 25 per cent in 34 states and the FCT. He missed the cut in Enugu and Anambra states.

In 2015, Buhari scored 15, 424,921 votes to beat the PDP incumbent Goodluck Jonathan who scored 12,853,162 votes.

It means Abubakar performed worse than Jonathan.

Now Atifku is doomed! His N20B contract with NPA will expire next year and will not be renewed, he didn't remit govt returns, Adiza, a girl of his yougest grandchild's demanded for it and he decamped to PDP. Also, his investment in IBEDC is under threat as the company did not perform and license may be revoked soonest.
His temporary VISA to enter the US will not be renewed , and he is back on their blacklist
He has taken a huge chunk from his business to fund his campaign.
This is why politics of bitterness and desperation is bad.
All the in your furure endeavours, Alhaji Abu Atiku

And where are those fake pastors who said Atifku was going to win?
Would the True God say a thing and it will not come to pass? It's time for their followers and church members to leave in droves and find a true living church to attend, as this has shown that those evil prophets serve a false God, the devil with whom they will rot and burn in hell.
