PoliticsRe: Presidential Election Tribunal Upholds Yar'adua's Election by AKO1(m): 2:55pm On Feb 26, 2008
Posted by: debosky

I don't know by what measures you came to the conclusion about the 'worst elections'

If the case was taken to court and argued out, and the law still permits the results to stand, that is something I would prefer to rely on than your own perception of things.

What makes you think that a re-run of the election would simply sort things out? Going by your reasoning that 'it would be worse the next time' what stops it being worse at the re-run you are clamouring for?

This is not a matter of 'national interest' to me - the judges as far as I've heard have not given that as the basis for their judgments. If by their reading of the law the elections were flawed but still had sufficient validity to stand, then that is a decision I am going to abide by.

The tribunal has not said anyone was dreaming, many governorship elections have been nullified, many house of reps/senatorial elections have been nullified - at a rate unseen before in the history of Nigerian politics. Taking all that into cognisance, does it instantaneously mean that the election should be cancelled? Even if there were more irregularities in this election than the other ones, does it still stand as a credible victory in the eyes of the law?

That is the crucial question here. You might perceive things differently, but that will not change the facts on the ground.

Elections will be re-run in a number of states shortly, let us see if that will be the magical solution you are hoping for, as if the same old riggers are not still alive and kicking.
Well said, very consoling indeed, very very consoling,

The Message translation is da bomb.Genesis 1:1 first this:God created the Heavens and Earth-all you see,all you don't see. 2 Earth was a soup of nothingness,a bottomless emptiness,an inky blackness,God's spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.3 God spoke:"Light!" and light appeared.I love this translation.
got this translation, its damn funny men and im quite sceptical about it's authenticity. What's it called and who made it?

@ topic: it may not necessarily be only about the spraying, but also the mentality behind the spraying.
Thats quite true. It really is a culture.

THIS IS A LITTLE BESIDE THE POINT BUT, ::--

from texazzpete
Yup! And if the Abia state government wanted the Aba people not to keep building pyramids of garbage on the expressway, they should have given every Aba resident garbage cans.
That would not be a bad idea, would it? If I live beside the expressway and I cannot afford a garbage can, where do I throw my refuse? In my bath tub? The government should be able to afford that. If you didn't want your child to watch a particular program on TV, you could either activate parental control or make sure the TV is off when it is being aired right? You won't just leave them there and assume they would obey.

I believe that as sensible as laws are, they are rendered useless if people are not empowered to obey the laws.

If the CBN was concerned about notes being clean, the new notes would have been polymer notes.
GBA!! End of story. That's why now it's almost impossible to find a crispy clean 5 naira note unless you check the mint. The new notes were the smaller denominations, the bulk of which are handled by the lower middle class and below.

What if i asked for $1m? How do i know that it is in line with His word?
Please i don't know the answer to it, i am trying to learn too. Seriously.
I think you answered that earlier. What do you need the million dollars for? To consumate your lusts? Is it a need or a want? God has already promised to supply our needs so if your need reaches $1million, He will give you. If it is a want, you must check your motives. Thats my view. May the good Lord continue to give us all the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the present complete knowledge of Him that the eyes of our understanding may be further enlightened.
PoliticsRe: Robbers Invade Canaanland by AKO1(m): 8:49pm On Feb 04, 2008
what if i ask for a second wife, or a million dollars . . . is that according to His will or for me to consume upon my own lust as it says the book of James?
If you abide in His words and His words abide in you, you will know for instance that polygamy is not His will.

Better put, ask what you will in line with His word, since that is the prerequisite.

Issues usually have wider issues attached to them which can be freely discussed. You cannot talk about Yahoo Yahoo without talking about unemployment and the causes of it, for instance.

My dear brother 4Him, it appears that you have a basic problem with Oyedepo, you just don't agree with his actions, probably because you are suspicious of his motives. i can't argue with you on that because I am not well informed and i don't want to judge him.

Fish and Bread in the verse you quoted shld not be read literarily if not will God give us only Sardines and Agege Bread when we pray?
I agree, I think fish and bread is figurative for a whole lot of other things. We just need to lean on the Holy Spirit for understanding when reading our bibles so we can know the literal/wider meanings of certain specifics like fish and bread. Also, the fact that I didn't mention that 'good things' doesn't exclude non-material things does not mean I don't think so.

Look at this interesting verse: James 4: 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

What does it mean to ask amiss?

Look at this one too - 1 John 5: 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

What does it mean to "ask according to His will"? Do we know His will?
Yes we may not always know the express will of Gid but I believe that for starters, everything in line with the word of God is the will of Gode.g it is the will of God for you to be healthy because Jesus has borne your diseases and carried your sicknesses. This however gets a lot more sensitive where prosperity is concerned right? e.g. how many cars does the bible permit me to have? I'll drop this issue here for now.

God in His mercy has given us 'space' to ask Him what we will. "Whatsoever things ye desire when you pray, believe that you receive and you shall have".

John 15:7;If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Of course we cannot overlook the conditions here but certainly God allows us to ask according to our will.

Do those "needs" only start and end with money?
CERTAINLY NOT!!!!!!!! BUT THEY ALSO (secondarily) INCLUDE MONEY AND ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS IT CAN BUY!!!!

4Him I love and appreciate your zeal.
PoliticsRe: Robbers Invade Canaanland by AKO1(m): 2:41pm On Feb 04, 2008
@4Him again, dont worry no hard feelings,

You mentiond that churches today have become estates and business empires unlike Christ's ministry,

estates, Jesus preached to multitudes; fed the 5000, this no excludes women and children,

If our pastors today are to follow Jesus this way, it would only be descent and '21st century like' to acquire a land and build a descent structure that will comfortably accomodate people.
If you'll agree with me, some of the hardships Paul and co went through was because of the technology of their day. If they had airplanes, we would not hear of Paul being shipwrecked. I also dont think he would have had successive plane crashes because God know he won't survive to write the epistles we now read.

However, some of these adversities were deliberately allowed by God to teach them certain lessons; certain things cant be done the easy way eg if Paul was self reliant and always comfortabe, he probably would not have appreciated and penned down Phil 4:19, my God SHALL supply all my needs,

Just a rational opinon!
PoliticsRe: Robbers Invade Canaanland by AKO1(m): 2:30pm On Feb 04, 2008
Sorry for posting the previous one 2ce!!!

4Him you mentioned something about God's prosperity not being measured by money. Let me hust share my own perspective.

There is prosperity from God that is material. Definately. Cant remember exactly where, but somewhere in the NT, Jesus says that you (us men) being evil, when our children ask for bread we wont give them stone or when they ask for fish we wont give them serpent, that how much more shall our heavenly Father give good things to them that ask.
You will agree with me that fish and bread are material things, so we could conclude that the good things Jesus mentions border around material things; how much more shall God give 'fish' and 'bread' to them that ask,
