ikelvin:I agree that the public conduct of traditional rulers should be subject to new statutory regulations. Furthermore, prospective candidates for kingship must be subject to psychiatric evaluation, in addition to other screenings, without exceptions. |
Akkord4gov:Prayers again ? So some people still believe that prayers can surmount all problems. That is a fallacy. If nigeria had adopted prayers during the ebola crisis, may be a chunk of the population would have been wiped off. Let the medical teams from far and near swing into action to unravel the mystery. |
God does not hearken the prayers of hypoctrites and deceivers. These pastors should stop luring the politicians to the church for selfish ends and ego boosting. |
cold:I agree with your point. Lesser animals like dogs, birds, goats, do show love to each other. Love is an instinct . So loving and doing good should be a matter of common sense in humans |
This is the first time i have heard something sensible from any religious leader in Africa. So, how many of the so called men of god believe in this philosophy ? Bunch of criminal deceivers. Shame on them. |
It will soon be. The clueless Buhari will be busy fighting corruption to realise that there's a need to increase our revenue from non-oil sources.[/ quote], Please resist the temptation of calling the president -elect names. For once, let us be decorious on this platform. General Buhari deserves all the respect in this world. |
Ignorance. |
CFCfan:And this nonsense must be stopped at all costs if Nigerians must prosper. |
tosyne2much:The pastors also said that not coming regularly to church is a sin and the gullible congregation clapped and shouted a loud amen to it. Very said. The bible says the people are perished because they lack knowledge. ..... |
Stop peddling lies please. Nigeria needs peace. And for your information, baba is currently out of the country. |
Both the government and people have roles to play in de-emphasizing religion and encouraging knowledge through formal and informal education. Religion gained so much ground as a result of biting poverty in Nigeria . Poverty blossomed in nigeria because of failure of government to provide for the people. And because religion offers fake hope to the ignorants, they are attracted to it consciously and unconsciously. Whenever the govenment wakes up to its responsibilities of providing basic necessities of life to the people, more people will recognise the fake hopes in religion and gradually embrace change to practical living. Furthermore, the government must start to treat religious centers as commercial entities that must be subject to statutory regulations. Failure of government to do this has been partly responsible for many challenges we have in nigeria today. Finally, nigerians have to be purged of this lazy belief that prayer is enough to adress all challenges of life. |
The problem i have with the pastors is the noise pollution caused with their church loud speakers. Same for the mosques. The society must wage a war against this indiscipline . |
Bimpe29:Thanks. The one that interests me most is the use of loud speakers by mosques and churches. Government and the people must act against noise pollution as quickly as possible. |
This is an issue that is bothering the minds of many well meaning nigerians. Many people have spoken and written about this subject but there seems not to be enough force behind this complaints. I am begining to suspect that most nigerians are yet to understand the inherent dangers of noise pollutions to human health. In particular, most worship centers have now been turned to pollution spots where churches and mosques now compete among themselves with noise making in order to impress the public. The louder the noise of these worship centers, the less the public complain about it. What can we do as a people to wrestle our health from the grip of these noise makers who are contributing almost nothing to the society? |
When you buy a fake product there is at least something physical you take home to justify money spent. But what about giving your money to the fake pastors without any useful thing to show for it. While you may not likely buy the same fake medication for the second time, these fake pastors will sweet-tongue you into coming back to pay ( for nothing in exchange) them times and times again. |
Yesterday, I overhead a chat among a group of youths about the menace of fake goods, especially medical products in nigeria and the danger it poses to the people. One of the participants posited that the problem of fake medications is not as serious as that of many fake pastors who parade themselves as healers, posperity agents and miracle givers. He was of the opinion that while Nafdac and SON are doing something to contain the problem of fake goods, nobody seems interested in doing anything about the fake pastors. My question is : Who is more dangerous to our society, fake pastors or fake medicine producers/sellers ? |
CityNG:You got it right at this time. But as time goes on with apc in government and standard of living rising, the boom in church business may start to decline as less people would seek 'comfort' from the so called pastors. |
Mamaflex:Whoever is still taking the words of these so called prophets seriously should also re-examine his brain. They are all a bunch of liars, deceivers, confusionists, criminal speculators and rogues. It is all about money and riches. I doubt if most of them will make heaven. |
FrancisTony:I hate what these so-called men of god have turned themselves into; some kind of second gods or acting gods or what ? However, a true man of God called Elisha cursed some young boys for calling him "bald head" in the bible. So a man of God can issue a curse on spiritually legal grounds. |
I hate to hear religious leaders speak carelessly like this. Nigerians should start sanctioning these irresponsible clerics irrespective of their status. If anyone is sure of his vision or prophecy, he should communicate directly with the person affected instead of putting such messages in the public domain. Bunch of shameless fellows who see nothing good in our struggle to become a better nation. |
I think fayose should resign to avoid being disgraced the second time and in line with the spirit of of peaceful change prevailing in the country. If he tries to set ekiti on fire, he would eventually find himself at ICC. |
tolustx:You just spoke my mind. I would expect any person in the class of tunde bakare to write a personal letter to the president-elect about his views instead of turning his arena to a theatre of political discourse. It looks like somebody is shouting for attention. I think nigeria has had enough from these so-called men of god. How much of salvation work have they done in their churches ? In short, how much have religions (all the religions) and their leaders contributed to developing nigeria ? I dont want to talk too much. |
Just thinking that the APC should for now refuse to receive decampees from other parties. Already, we know that tongues are wagging against the number of prominent pdp members who defected to apc and how they may attempt to stain the identity of apc. I therefore think that lovers of good governance in Nigeria should start speaking and working against the concentration of hitherto pdp members in the incoming governing party, apc. What is your take on this? |

aguiyi:This is not his first time. I think the igbos should petition icc against him. The oba is inciting violence with his threat. |
I think the government should begin to regulate the activities of these pastors, prophets, immams , marabouts, etc. They are becoming more of a nuisance to the nigerian society. If they have any vision, they should communicate directly with the person concerned instead of putting their message in the public domain. |
There is a big difference between being a regular church member and being a true christian. Most christians today do not recognise this fact and that is why pastors blossom and their followers remain poor. They tell the ignorant congregation that not attending church activities or coming late is a sin in order to milk them. God is a spirit and he asks everyone to worship Him in spirit not by mere church attendance where all they do is make noise, display latest fashion, oppress the poor with heavy tithe and offering , and so on. Same for worshippers in the mosques. |
Dear gullibles, see where your tithes and offerings ended up when most of you still cannot afford three good meals a day. God will judge you for being foolish. |
The use of cell phone camera may not be absolutely reliable. There is a device that is specifically made to perform that function. This is also available in the same stores where secret cameras are sold, and are relatively cheap. |

I cannot agree less with obasanjo's position on this. |
