When the old corrupt leaders exit the political arena, either voluntarily or by force. |
There is too much frustration, disappointment, anguish and anger in nigerians at the moment. Even those of us who live in the southwest experience a lot of embarrassment from frustrated and angry pedestrians when we drive around town. These are the typical behaviours you see in a people whose government cares less about their basic human needs such as food , health, clothing, shelter, education and security . In short, a hungry man is an angry man. The more the hunger, the more the anger |
I think fighting corruption in nigeria will be easy if new leaders posess and exercise the will to fight it. The first step is to shake up the entire judiciary ( both federal and states ). These are the things to do : 1. Retire or remove all corrupt judges according to provisions of the law 2. Establish more courts and provide facilities in the old ones 3. Appoint more judges to speed up court processes 4. Appoint competent state prosecutors to represent the government 5. Empower EFCC and its staff and give it sufficient freedom to operate 6. Give more muscle to ICPC and other institutions related to corruption fight 7. Allow the press enough space to investigate and publish stories involving corruption 8. Invole the public through enlightenment to freely report suspected issues of corruption 9. Renovate existing prisons and build new ones. 10. Introduce subject in our schools to teach against corruption and other criminal activities, especially at the primary and secondary school levels. AND MANY MORE |
PastorKun:My little pet has better gueses. The dog is even more intelligent than whoever issued out these so called prophesies. |
PastorKun:I agree with your view on this. This is another season of clumsy gueses called prophesies. This man and his likes should be called to order as a matter of urgency. |
mrvitalis:" building modern infrastructure....." |
Let there be more decorium on this forum. You may disagree with another poster's opinion but you need not cuss or abuse him while presenting your ideas. If we are reffering to some political leaders as corrupt, you must not fall victim of same by using corrupt languages. If anyone is addicted to foul languages, let him purge himself of such in the interest of decency on nairaland. The forum is not meant for the unruly, uncultivated and unrefined persons. |
There are too many dramas happening in this country to deceive gullible and docile nigerians. Gathering a few paid mallams and parrading them to the press as fake bokoharamists should not be enough to exonerate an alleged sponsor of terrorism. Nigeria authorities with their clownish and laughable practices. What a shame. |
lokoloko84:You just spoke my mind. I wonder what nigerians are made of. Some animals are more intelligent than many nigerians. What a pity. |
Nigerians must not stop talking and shouting until positive change is achieved in the country. Just imagine. How do we justify nigeria being the giant of africa; nigeria with the largest economy in africa; and nigeria missing out of the list of 10 most posterous african countries? Honestly, our leaders have not done well for this country. |
In simple arithmetics , Nigeria lost N 1,200,000,000,000 ( naira ) in 2012 alone. In a 10 year period, an approximate total of N 23,550,000,000,000 ( naira ) was lost to corruption. These figures were arrived at by using $1= N150 across board. That is 1.2 trillion and 23.6 trillion naira respectively. What a country ? Big shame on our leaders and NO THANKS to docile nigerians who have allowed corruption to prevail for this long !!! I just remember that the proposed budget for 2015 is 4.3 trillion naira only. |
Considering that resources are not always sufficient, the fed. govt might just be able to subsidise one of the two at a time. |
During a discussion yesterday, an issue came up and we were not able to agree. The issue is , Should the federal government stop subsidising petroleum products and start to subsidise food for nigerians ? What is your view ? |
I guess this must be a scene out of some worthless nollywood movie, all in the name of being innovative or funny. |
Nigeria police has never been a friend of the people even though they always claim that " police is your friend ". They only pretend to be your friend when you pay for service not rendered. It is even going to get worse now as the federal government has mandated them to increase their internally generated revenue. What a country called Nigeria. |
Igbayi laaro yin ( meaning why haven't they spoken since ). There is too much rot in the Nigeria system. That is why we are disdained by other nationals, especially when you go outside the country. Shame on us !! |
This incident is a reflection of the grave decadence in our society. Kids usully take after their parents. The fabric of the nigerian society has been torn apart by the callousness and wickedness of our leaders. I feel so sorry for the youth and children of this country. |
isaacfreeman99:There may be the need for NAIRALAND to create a NEW SECTION for deliquent juveniles and untrained, uncultured, uncouched youths who regularly insult creative and objective posters on the forum. Such youths will be more useful on the proposed platform as they will be able to trade insults among their fellows and continue to wallow in the river of perpetual ignorance and stupidity. This will enable matured and intellectual minds to concentrate on things that matter without pollution from the unruly juveniles and will also boost the image of nairaland and the members. |
Nigeria authorities are jesters and clowns. Even the okadas and tricycles compete with pedestrians on our narrow roads. |
There is no consumer justice in nigeria. Every government action is anti-consumer as we continually bear the brunt of the recklessness that prevail nigeria's systems and structures. |
The only time our law makers unite to challenge the status quo is when their personal interests are trampled on. They side- turn their heads and tightly close their eyes when the citizens' interests are in danger. Shame on Nigeria.. |
Why are they waiting till next year? Nigeria's labour is the most docile in the globe The unions have been paying lip service to the yeanings of the members for too long. And the average worker is continually impoverished. |
SeverusSnape:The organised civil society groups are supposed to push the government to listen and do the desires of the people but I doubt if we have such credible groups in nigeria. Or am i mistaking nigeria for some other sane nations ? |
SeverusSnape:Rising up to demand real answers and not stopping until nigerians get what they desire- good governance. |
SeverusSnape:. And our people are not helping the situation by accepting every lazy reason given by the government for their many failures. |
emiraty:I take exception to insult coming from a nairalander. Please retract your curse or i forward a report to the modetator. We need more decorium on this forum. |
Most of these jesters and clowns that call themselves nollywood or entertainment celebrities think of politics in nigeria as child's play. The poor quality of their movies and songs is enough to disqualify them as suitable for any public duty. They should go back to their industry and work hard to improve on their dwindling image. |
Nigerians like living in denial. The federal government is pretending not to realise the dangers ahead of nigeria by adopting over $60 per barrel benchmark in the revised budget proposals. A more realistic and sustainable benchmark should be $40 - $45 per barrel. Crude oil prices are still expected to drop further in the early part of 2015. |
In the true spirit of sharia law, the governor's daughter should have been 'forced' to marry a 70year old muslim. This would have convinced us that the state operators actually believe in what they profess. |
What I hate to read on nairaland is posters praying to god to solve problems that were willfully created by politicians. God does not intefere in what humans can handle. Insecurity , bad infrastructures, poverty and corruption are not spiritual problems. Solution will only come when we start demanding constructive actions, not rhetorics from our leaders. Nigerians are too docile. |
Nigerians dont like to hear the truth and that is why the politicians lie to us. The message about Nigeria being very dangerous is a known fact to all. We should stop being in denial and challenge the government to live up to its responsibility. |
Nobody can say it better than the op. The entertainment industry has not promoted much good in the society ; it has been more of evil than good. Infact our music and movies are increasingly creating bad image for nigerians in the outside world. Todays movies potray us more like morons , corrupted and beggarly people. I would expect that entertainers venturing into politics should have some moral decency which we have not seen in many of them that love appearing half -unclad in public. |
