FashionRe: Braless Red Carpet Photos At AMVCA by akoaki(m): 8:27am On Mar 09, 2015
It is high time the organisers of social functions are encouraged to discourage these obscene and condemnable practices. Similar thing was done in the US around 2012 when invitees to a popular musical award were warned not to attend the show indecently. I think we deserve to look at less offensive things in the face of falling crude oil prices, depreciating naira, rising unemployment and biting poverty.

I completely agree

Our leaders should evolve to business suits for official engagements

Let's relegate cultural attires to social and cultural events

This may even help reduce this tension of tribalism, ethnicity and religion in our politics!
You made a very valid point but how can we create this awareness among ourselves. Do you know that a substantial part of our youth population still dont know that there is a correlation between smart dressing and productivity.
PoliticsWhy Do Nigerian Officials Dress As If Going To Social Function by akoaki(op): 11:20am On Mar 06, 2015
Over time, I have observed with dismay the way government officials in nigeria dress for duty as if attending a social function. If anyone looks very well across all nations, nigeria is presently the most well known for sluggish dressing amongst officials of government. I have always believed that the way you dress to your job may indicate your preparedness to do the job well.
Some may think it is our culture for politicians and government officials to appear the way they do , but people who dress smart in other countries have their traditional or cultural attires but they draw a line between culture, tradition and official functions.
At international fora you see our leaders and representatives struggling to fold their over-flowing gowns to fit into spaces provided.
Guys, what is your take on this.

OMAR BANGURA from Sierra Leone has this to tell Nigerians;

"I don't think you guys know what you are playing with. You can call each other names and laugh about it now but when you end up inciting hate here as I read through your posts here and a real civil war starts in your country you will regret what you are doing now. Your religious and political leaders are trying to divide you between religious lines and you are helping them do that rather than standing up and say we are all Nigerians never mind our tribe, region or religion. That's the only stand that will save your blessed nation. The foreign powers pushing the government to take certain decisions will abandon you when you start killing one another and reject you from running to their countries so be careful. Our 11 year war in Sierra Leone was not even based on religious or tribal difference and see what we did to our country. The worst conflicts are those based on tribal and religious differences. See Central Africa, Bosnia and Rwanda. To have a better knowledge of this, please watch the documentary/movie called "Hotel Rwanda" or "Sometime in April". My heart bleeds when I read what you guys are saying because I know what this will lead to. You will be the losers all of you whether Christian, Muslim, igbo, yoruba or hausa. Stand as one and save your nation together because you have only one Nigeria that has the potential to lead Africa."
PLEASE HELP SAVE NIGERIA AND SHARE THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
Thanks . Just to add to your views. There is too much ignorance among nigerians, especially in the social media ( including nairaland ). People , mostly the youths, express optimism about war thinking it would solve nigeria's problems. War does not solve national problems. It compounds the problems by destroying infrasctures, maiming and sending people to their early graves. Youths and young men are the main casualties of wars. Nigerians need more education like the above post. If moderators can originate threads to educate the public on this subject, i wii personally appreciate it. Am sure other lovers of peace will also gladly welcome it.

Sile12:
The first Nigerian films were made by filmmakers such as Ola Balogun and Hubert Ogunde in the 1960s, but they were frustrated by the high cost of film production. However, television broadcasting in Nigeria began in the 1960s and received much government support in its early years. By the mid-1980s every state had its own broadcasting station.
Since the advent of what is today known as Nollywood in the late 80s or early 90s, actors have come and gone, like the saying that “soldier go and soldier come and barracks remain”. One needs not to argue the fact that the growth of the industry has translated into the discovery and projections of emerging talents whose startling performances further give credence to the industry. But at the same time, we must also acknowledge some of the notable faces who made waves at a very auspicious time in the industry and later descended into oblivion. Lets take a crucial look at the trend in the industry and the place of these old but once popular faces who are currently missing in action as well as the “evergreen actors and actresses.”. These ones have contributed positively into the industry, laid a solid foundation for the industry and has affected lives of viewers positively.

It is wrong for security agents or anyone whatsoever to beat a driver for violating traffic laws . But if you see the way many drivers conduct themselves on our roads, you will be tempted to encourage security agents to beat them more. This includes all categories of drivers: private, commercial, company, government drivers and the rest. There is too much indiscipline on our roads and it is a cause for serious concern.

Just like the politicians, pastors in nigeria lack good knowledge of the job they are doing and yet they have many followers and admirers among us. They talk carelessly and act recklessly ; and because the people are ignorant, there is nobody to check their excesses. Imagine a pastor calling the church a business and when they are asked to pay taxes, they say it is non-profit. Bunch of ruthless thieves , exploiters and enemies of God.

Christianity EtcRe: Some Wrong Prayers Often Prayed In Church. by akoaki(m):
In nigeria, religion and ignorance are twin brothers and this is why people arebeing spiritually destroyed. In every sphere of nigerian life , high level of ignorance prevails and this has made the country to journey backward and the people to suffer continually. Even when those who have knowledge want to impact it on the ignorant, the latter still reject it. The same is true of many on this forum who hate new knowledge but prefer to continue swimming in the river of ignorance and nothingness.

I am sorry to say boss but your people (moderators) are seriously making the Frontpage a joke... sad

Though they are trying their best but you should have noticed people aren't really impressed with it. The reason why i had to create this thread was:
I introduced Nairaland to my uncle few weeks ago though he has been visiting as a guest and seem to enjoy the topics discussed especially some that made it to FP.

But recently he started asking me what kind of "irrelevant" stuffs were being updated recently. I couldn't give a good response to that all i could do was smile...

Mr seun, i aren't "jealous" or anything but i noticed some mods have also taken over the celebrity section...their post(s) are always making fp..is this an example of how things are suppose to run around here??

I am sorry if i have stepped on toes i just feel i should let out my mind. We all love Nairaland..no where else can remind us of Home

God bless Nigeria, God bless Nairaland smiley
My friend, you forgot to mention the prevailence of dirty language being freely used on the forum and how africans in diaspora are reacting to it. If the government is accused of being corrupt, i think the people should come clean by by exhibiting decency and decorum on social forum like nairaland so as not to be seen as socially corrupt.

It is impossible for humans to interprete all scriptures correctly but i think it is better to worship God with common sense. I love the mention of loud speakers used by churches. Most nigerians do not yet know the dangers that noise pollution pose to human health such as stress , high blood pressure and partial deafness, among others. Our people need more enligtenment on this. God desires our heart and not all the razmatazz that comes with present day worshippers in all faiths ( churches and mosques ).
