Politics › Re: 10 Facts About Boko Haram by Akpan107(m): 6:25pm On Mar 12, 2013 |
tiarabubu: There are many wrong things in those facts.
The first is the fact that the picture of that gunman is NOT Boko Haram but that of a Somali Militant in Mogadishu.
Second, Nigeria didn't first link Boko haram to Al Qaeda, but it was the American who did so and wanted to designate BH as a foreign terrorist organization which Nigeria resisted as it will attract the attention of Al Qaeda and make them collaborate more with BH with disastrous consequencies for Nigeria's security.
Third, the crackdown on Boko Haram started not so innocuous. To downplay police losses in the early days of the insurgency as if only the BH were killed is no exactly correct.
To say "Nigeria suffers from incredible factional fighting, particularly between the North and South" is rather a strong way of putting the North and South rivalry .
I also don't think that this statement "Political rivals have been arrested under flimsy charges that they were tied to the Islamists" is actually correct. I don't know if any political rival has been arrested on a "flimsy" charge yet. Ndume and co are undergoing trial until the courts dimisses the charge it cant be said to be flimsy
I think it is very true that the high handedness of the security forces is exacerbating the insurgency. It drives away potential informants, forms a basis for recruitment, breeds resentment, and make ordinary folks begin to see the islamists as the "purnisher" to avenge the death of loved ones. If the military had won the people to their side in those early days, the crisis would have been history. I just can't understand why police/military will be shooting after each bombing and setting houses ablaze. I thought those around during the bombing are valuable assets for intelligence gathering!
I also think that there is a political angle to this whole saga. Initially maybe it was not but slowly politics has creep in making the fight potentially messier and intractable.
I also think some points in the write up were cherry picked to fit into the stereotypes.
i give the writeup a score of 5/10. Thank God i did not waste my time to read it. |

But
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
Reasonable people will know that if Islam preaches what this BH are doing then me and you will not have time for internet,we will be in battle field
What can we say about islam 10 20 years ago? I remember the way ppl used to abuse muslims in my school then is that they kiss the ground and show their bottoms to ladies behind them(smile) but in the last 3 years the only thing even a graduate can say about islam is BH,well i will accept that they (BH) were born as a muslim but i am very sure they are satisfying their personal interest and not what religion teaches, let me bring our mind to the kudos we all gave to the JTF days ago for killing many BH,do you realised that many of the forces are muslims? Why would they kill their brothers that practice what they both bliv is right? That alone is enough has evidence
Silence of our friends- our gov know how to wash away all this people within few months, OBJ is a christian and was recorded the first person to discussed with BH,GEJ is a christian also said BH are in his cabinet, sincere Nigerian will accept that it takes just actions and order for this two people alone to wash away BH sponsores, Gej and Obj know their sponsores if not their boys.
If the ROOT of any tree is destroy then the leafs will Wither.
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." i can never be decieved! A muslim friend of mine once called me and said... ''' see, if there a religious riot and a muslim kills a Christian, there is reward for the muslim killer'' |
