Ray97: politics apart Ortom has failed, what people fail to understand is that the man was incompetent right from when he was in the ruling party. look at the amount of money he is owing civil servants and retirees despite government intervention,Buhari literally spoilt Ortom with money he also collected loans to that effect. i challenge anybody to go to benue or even makurdi and see for yourselves, its like its deteriorating. benue state has no concrete revenue generating means like some states. its citizens depend on civil servants salary. the funny thing of the matter is that he is not even trying to show amend his ways few weeks to election. he goes about telling people that he is being persecuted due to his stance on the anti grazing law. thats the only thing he is using to campaign. they call him ''hero of the benue valley" which is actually a big scam. last time i checked federal troops where the ones that brought peace and sanity to benue during the farmers herders clashes
when he left the the ruling party he claimed that he has changed. that he was being controlled, extorted and blackmailed by akume. he is in PDP now yet nothing has changed. nothing has been heard of the probe against the former governor and a PDP chieftain suswam who we all know embezzled billions of naira treated civil servants in the same manner since ortom joined the opposition party the.
i keep saying this, if not for the ASUU strike, i have no money to go back to school or pay school fees, her at home no money to buy food but thanks to God we harvested our yams and rice so that one is covered. pls people close to the governor should advice him, the election will not pass easy for some people. in fact it is easier to defend fayoshe than to support or defend ortom. It's really unfortunate, but from all indications Ortom may likely win. The rhetoric of Buhari will Islamise Benue as well as the antigrazing bill is a very strong selling point. From what I've seen, apart from the civil servants who generally reject him, the average farmer (who unfortunately make up the bulk) see him as a hero who fought to keep the Fulani off thier farms. |

Isn't it funny, an administration with the largest number of lawyers in our nation's history with up to 3 SANs keeps making a mockery of our judicial process.
Of course the CJN is not without blame. As the nation's no 1 judicial officer shouldn't he know the implication of lying about his assets? |

zinaunreal: Please can you drop the email? Im not sure dropping the email will help, cos I doubt he will honor a request just like that. Like in my case I had physically visited the branch up to two times to do a written instruction before he started accepting email instruction, and I suspect he had already communicated with my account officer. I'll suggest that you personally meet with the person in charge of TB in the state your based at least once. |

Gavrelino123: Kindly explain this process bit by bit,so that i can adopt it.... A formal instruction without a rate..? Kindly elucidate this......Thanks First you have to get the email address of the person in charge. In Benue where I'm based, its one Kevin Eze. Then send the email. All I usually specify is the tenor, amount and account to debit. Since its usually primary market I do, I have to go with their rate, so I dont specify it. Normally he has to receive the mail latest Tuesday of the bidding week. If successful, I'll usually be debited by Friday, though sometimes it extends till Saturday. For Secondary market, (which I must confess I rarely do) I had to go to the bank to discuss their available rates and tenors to see if its acceptable. Hope this helps |

Gavrelino123: I went to GTBANK today....Got 14.5% for 355 days ,the branch told me to call my account officers that they have sent my instructions to them.....Called this lady by 1pm, and she said she's was on the road.....up till now,I haven't been debited....!! GTBANK is fond of tying it's customers to their designated account officers which is very wrong....No one can treat your TB except your account officer.? Unless it's a very recent development, I can boldly say that not (shouldn't be) the case. In fact in most branches Ive used, there's usually a designated officer that handles such issues, and sometimes I go physically other times it's just an email. I've NEVER had to go through my account officer. |

C505: Much appreciated. I've always bought from the secondary. I only decided to try the primary once to see the difference
God bless you It's VERY unlikely the secondary mkt rate will be higher dn the primary bid o. Cos d banks buy and resell. So if they resell at a higher rate they'll incur loss. From experience the secondary is Abt .5 to 1 percentage pt lower than the primary bid |

OgogoroFreak: you can get 14.5 in the secondary market nah. I did with diamond and gtbank @14.5%
So, if you are allowed to choose your own rate, aim higher like 15.5% Oga ogogoro, hope say u never overshack o.(Na joke o) But seriously how can he aim for 15.5% when the highest rate currently in primakt is just abt 14.5%? U want the bank to be at a loss? Even @the secondary mkt it's banks rate that must use. You can however insist that you won't accept below a specific rate. |

odalon: I appreciate everyone that takes time in making meaningful contribution and making this forum what it is today. please let us desist from ridiculing others contributors opinion,we scare people from sharing their views with such behavior. We learn from one another, every contributions makes me think, learn and review what i think i know. I started following this forum when it was in page 35 and i have learnt a lot and still learning. But it griefs my heart when we ridicule those trying to makes us see things from diff perspectives. We have lost great minds in this forum base on this attitude, please let us have a mind of a "LEANER". Let us be objective in our cases without ridiculing others opinion . All contributions is important, it is only kids that want to be right at all times. Come to think of it what trophy is in there for the winner so to say. Please state your case, learn from others, make your observation and move on. Please let us learn to respect one another. God Bless o jare. I made this point a few pages back when a similar debate was raging over TBs vs saving in hard currency. Truth is, when it comes to such economic issues, there's usually no right or wrong, its usually just a matter of perspectives. One may have all the facts and figures and come to particular valid conclusion, but another can use those same figures and arrive at an equally tenable but different conclusion. Hence the usual joke about asking for opinions on one issue from five economists and getting six different answers. I, like a lot of others, have benefited immensely from this thread, so tay I dey form 'investment advisor' for my office , but it has largely come from the rich and varied perspectives from the brilliant minds that have contributed to this thread. Not to belabour the point, but it would do us a whole good to be more accommodating to others' contribution, whether we agree or not. peace |

mistyebby: Olodo, You think it is World bank abi. Treasury bills are citizens hard earn money. I hope they pay back. hysteriabox: And the borrowing continues *facepalm* Olodos all over. Just to state here that I'm not in anyway a fan of this govt, however. The fact that you *hope* FG pays back the TB shows you have ABSOLUTELY no idea what the process entails. Well, as I have let me indulge you illiterates this once: Taken from a TB thread: What are treasury bills: https://www.nairaland.com/878880/treasury-bills-nigeriaNIGERIAN TREASURY BILLS These are discountable instruments used by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to manage liquidity in the system, usually on short-term basis. In recent times, the market has witnessed a tremendous higher yield in the Nigerian Treasury Bills. The tenors are short with a maximum of 364-days with yields far higher in comparison to what the money market offers:
Features of the Nigerian Treasury Bills Issuer is the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Typically, Nigerian Treasury Bills are zero-risk and rediscount-able through licensed Money Market Dealers. The Rates are offered on a discount basis and are often referred to as risk-free rates. Primary Issue of 91 days and 182 days are offered bi-monthly, while 364 days bills are offered monthly. In simple language, TBs are nothing new and its a NORMAL way of FG raising funds on shortterm basis. Regarding the issue of "paying back", its virtually unheard of for FG to default, hence its usually called zero-risk. The only possibility is if (in the very unlikely event) all our oil dries up and Fg becomes totally broke. |

Politics › Re: FG To Borrow N823b Through Treasury Bills In First Quarter 2019 by alezzy13: 8:10am On Jan 11, 2019 |
seunfly: The tittle is misleading, it is the normal treasury bill Nigerian government has been doing long b4 Buhari administration. It serves two purpose because it help CBN mop up excess cash in circulation to avoid inflation it also helps government to control liquidity in circulation while it is the safest investment for public. Many Nigerians are not wise enough to take advantage of this cool investment.
You needs to open your eyes to see opportunities when it comes. Lol! when I say majority of those that comment on FP are stark illiterates, e go be like joke. I can bet none are aware the practice occurs as frequently as biweekly. |

Na so people go just dey lie anyhow. An explosion will only occur when the fuel is under pressure eg gas cylinder. Hence the talk of phone causing a generator to explode is absolute rubbish. One is even claiming keke Napep engine caught fire from a phone??!!! Hian! In fact I watched an episode of myth buster where they clearly showed that a phone cannot cause fire at a filling station. The expert who later spoke precaution made for just for the sake of it. Phones cannot ignite fuel. lets stop disgracing ourselves. |

dejavuh0007: gas cylinders r nor meant to b placed inside d kitchen which increases the risk of explosion if there's a leakage due to its close proximity to d fire. that's y it's not advisable to use all dese 3kg gas that uses a direct burner. But dumb Nigerians will never learn. Stop being unnecessarily alarmist. As long as it's maintained (change burner once rusts become much, replace rubber valve at refilling, etc) there shouldn't be any problem. I've used mine for close to 20yrs without any issue. Likewise a lot of people I know. |
