I expected Oyedepo to have known better but his hatred for Buhari blinded his reasoning senses. Thank you for this Honestly it beats me hollow that MOG didnt recognize this. |

But I must confess I was disappointed with the video. When a colleague showed me the video I was almost tempted to believe it was doctored. . . Make I stop here.

san316: It really annoys me when I read about this matale attack.
How can a battalion, commanded by a whole Lt Col, with a population of over four hundred soldiers be overrun by Bh after getting an hour Intel before the attack.
Let's assume they didn't have enough ammo. One hour is enough to plan a resistance strategy and an escape strategy in case they run out of ammunition.
They said they were trapped by the barb wires and trenches around the base. They could have created a secret route before hand so that when they are outgunned, they will have an easy way out.
But what happened, scout came and said "oga, the boys are coming oo" oga replied, "go and tell your men to prepare for battle" and they waited for BHT to bring the war to them while they were on the defensive. After exhausting their ammo, they decided to marte and BHT took advantage and finished them up. even heard bht sent a letter weeks before the attack.
A creative army is not one with the best weapon but one that can make use of minimum resources to achieve maximum impact. Unfortunately, our soldiers were not creative, their superiors in Abuja failed them, the government failed them and they died for nothing. Ive made the point on several threads on the Metele attack. A major problem is training and orientation. The attack was most unfortunate as it was a national embarrassment. That BH in just Toyota Hilux vans, motor bike, ak47s and a few RPGs could annihilate over 100 soldiers after less than an hour of fight, EVEN WITH ADVANCE WARNING, shows the very poor and pitiable state of the NA. They keep shouting lack of weapons, but according to the report by PT, BH carted away large cache of weapons from the base. So where did it come from? Of course the buck stops with the guys in Abuja, right from Burutai to PMB. We don't have an army |

BlowBack: Does your average BH insurgent have standard night vision googles?
I don't like reading about the lame excuse of not having weapons to fight with as this to me is not an excuse. The standard AK47 rifle issued to Nigerian army personnel is a very good weapon and is no more sophisticated than the same AK47 BH members carry.
The issue to me is that the men at front have been there for too long and need to be rotated at most every 6mths with fresh legs. The point I've been making. I don't believe the weapons BH had were substantially better than ours, but there was a major difference: GUTS, ORIENTATION. From the videos I've sseen, those guys were fighting like wounded lions, it was all out, no holds barred. They were chanting, howling, yelling. . . Even me watching had goosebumps. I'm not any means holding brief for this govt, and of course I totally support the need for higher grade sophisticated weapons, but beyond that we need to work on the orientation and training of these soldiers. |
Politics › Re: METELE ATTACK: Poor Orientation, Not Lack Of Weapons Was The Major Culprit by alezzy13: 6:07pm On Nov 25, 2018 |
PatrickOkunima: People may have different opinions as to why the casualty was high - over 70 as reported, but for me, lack of orientation was the problem. An average person believes that the best way to escape danger is to run. That may be true in some cases, but in the war fronts, nothing makes you more vulnerable than running away from the enemy. Let me rephrase, is the easiest way to die in the war fronts is to run away from the enemy.
Let's try to look at it this way. Every other factor remain constant, assuming all the soldiers at Melete base are 100 in strength, and were attacked by Boko Haram (500 of them). If each of these soldiers had stood their grounds and engaged these terrorist, do you think we would have had up to 70 casualties? No, I very much doubt that. The worst case would have been 15 - 20 deaths.
The probability of me losing my life:
If I do not fight the enemy is 70/100 = 0.7
If I fight the enemy is 20/100 = 0.2 Excellent analysis. I made the point at the other thread on this topic. With deepest respect to the deceased condolences to thier family, this was a shameful and embarrassing attack. The soldiers made no attempt to fight. They saw BH approaching and tried to run, and were slaughtered in d process. One the issue of lack of/poor arms and ammunition, the Premium times account had reported that BH went away with large cache of weapons from the base. So the point is 1. If really they're old and obsolete as some accounts claim, why would BH loot them? 2. Are BH weapons really that sophisticated? The videos I've convey that, but I could be wrong. The major issue is orientation and training. |

Explorers: Oyinbo that manufactured motorbikes attached mirrors but we Nigerians removed them, and turn the head lamps up to the sky.
They reduce the lenght of the steering/handle so they can easily maneuver between cars in traffic(i asked one of them) .
They also raise the seat high and attach mp3 players with speaker.
They fix siren and annoying horns.
These guys will never sit straight on their bikes, they bend, looking back at their exhaust as they fire on high speed.
Some even sit on their fuel tanks despite carrying no one.
Some wearing slippers will hold it with the tip of their toes, then press their pedal with nothing.
They overtake from left, right, centre, anytime and anywhere.
If they hit your car, they dont have money. They kneel/postrate begging if you're a man.
If they hit a woman's car, 100 bikes will gather in 10seconds, attacking/blaming the woman. But some women are crazy.

Engineer123: How I wish I had time to explain to people what is happened in North East. The way military personnels talk or report situations is different from civilians. All what the soldiers said we're true. BH are using drone to spy the defensive location of Nigerian army and BH have more sophisticated arms and ammunition compare to Nigerian army. BH do advances with support weapon like general purpose machines gun, rocket propelled grenade, anti air craft and many other more. While Nigerian army are using outdated AK47 and less fire weapons. Some time the MBT and APC do over heat and the efficiency of the tank is very low. If you watch BH advancing towards Nigerian defensive location, you will see hilux mounted with AA and other support weapon. Before a lieutenant colonel will lost his life in the battle front, know the the situation was critical. What the soldiers mean by arms and ammunitions were carted away by BH is that Ak47, magazines, RPG and 3 or more GPMG were carted away. Which is less in term of super power to BH. One anti aircraft bullet can or RPG can scatter a battalion. In summary, there are conspiracies in fighting BH. Is only the Armed Forces that understands the situation better. If Nigerian army in collaboration with airforce decided to wipe BH out, some people sources of money will stop. I forget to add this, some generals are sabotaging the efforts of soldiers in North East. Later sir Hmm. Insightful. |
Politics › Re: Goodluck Jonathan: I Never Said Stealing Is Not Corruption.... by alezzy13: 3:46am On Nov 23, 2018 |
LordAdam16: [s]They are corruption not stealing. It is illiteracy that allows you to conflate those two without realizing the differences.
This is the simplistic definition of corruption according to Transparency International:
This is the simplistic definition of stealing from Google:
As such, in your examples:
A. The government official did not steal the car. He did not take it without permission or legal right. After all, it was approved legally. However, he abused his entrusted power for private gain to deflate the actual price of the car so he could legally buy it at a far reduced price. That's corruption.
B. Same as A. The politician and his cronies did not steal the hotels. He instead used his political office for private gain.
C. Same as B and C. It is well within the NSA's right to spend on national security concerns. That is not stealing. When he abuses his office to classify non-security concerns as security concerns, that is corruption.
Even after building Almajiri schools and new universities, GEJ couldn't force Nigerians to use dictionaries which are freely available. It wasn't just GEJ that said it. The Chief Justice of Nigeria also echoed it. Yet you and your ilk called Jonathan clueless for making the statement but couldn't go toe-to-toe with the country's most prominent legal luminary.
Many Nigerians are daft beyond measure, you included. If you can't tell the difference between stealing and corruption in 2018, go ask for refund from your English and economics/commerce teachers. They failed you. Then when you're done, never forget you're an id*ot for not improving your knowledge when all it takes is 30 minutes and a bit of computer literacy to educate yourself on the difference.

Henry240: Nigerian soldiers, like the Federal Government are too full of complaints.
As an individual that has followed the military for many years, some of the losses ground troops face are embarrassing to say the least.
Nigerian troops lost at-least 2 Main Battle Tanks, 1 APC and 7 heavily armed gun trucks.
How can they claim to be out-gunned? Honestly I'm surprised no one is asking these questions. In one breath, they claim they had insufficient weapons, but in another they said bh went away with "a large cache of arms, ammunition, and military equipment". Which one person go believe? Furthermore, 70 is not a small number and these are supposed to be TRAINED soldiers fa cryin' out loud!!! How after about 45 mins of fighting, even with an APC they were easily annihilated by BH? Abi de BH fighters reach 1000?? Or them they use jazzz ni ? And lastly remember it's wasn't really a surprise attack as such. If the surviving soldier's account is to be believed, they actually had some advance warning. They (soldiers) were supposed to be prepared for such attacks. Not trying to be insensitive, but when I hear such killings, I wonder. . . RIP to the dead tho. . |

Bede2u: I find it stupid that a thread with nameless sources has attracted bmcs in large numbers to come and masturbate. They occupy the entire front page insulting gej without any logical reason.
Gej wrote a book about his moment. He and only him can know wat was going on in his mind. And as he wrote in the book, he only said that while others were profering different solutions, he made up his mind to calm things and call buhari. That he did. It wasnt okonjo or another that forced him to call buhari.
Gej is a gentleman that has no equal in apc. Was it about amechi's threat of forming a paralel govt if apc lost? Was it buhari's threat of igniting violence if he loses? Was it obj's shameless antics?
Gej redefined nigerian's democracy in 2015 while buhari truncated it in 1984. Those are the only facts You dont get it. No one, not even PMB himself is questioning the gentlemanly status of GEJ. To be sure, GEJ whether through pressure from his inner circle or of his own choice, could easily, using the federal might at his disposal, have overruled the outcome of the election, but he chose not to. I'm not his fan, but for what its worth, that singular act put him in a special place among the great men of this country. The point being made here is the blatant contradiction of his account of his concession with that given by NOI previously in her book. Yes, it looks petty, but its stirring up needless controversy calls to question his sincerity. The Borno gov ha equally noted inconsistencies in the book, esp on GEJ's refusal to accept the reality of the Chikbok finding, despite the availability of evidence. The man for just chill |
