PhonesRe: What Is Your Smartphone Deal Breaker? by alienYOUTH(m): 2:41am On Dec 06, 2017
My dealbreaker is a magnetometer (compass) and gps that connects fast. I'm a civil engineer & my smart phone is an indispensable tool for reconnaissance surveys. A magnetometer allows me to geocode my site photographs with view direction so i don't have to remember what direction i was facing when i took d picture. Tecno has refused to incorporate this in any of it's phones so i don't even go near their phones again, despite the cheap prices, awesome display & battery life.
Science/TechnologyRe: Do Aliens Exist? 5 Signs They Just Might... by alienYOUTH(m): 5:48am On Jul 25, 2014
I've noticed that when pple talk about Aliens, they always look at it from a human perspective and assume that these creatures will be Humanoid (have similar characteristics to humans), when even here on earth we have characteristics of living things that are already alien to our own ways. Fishes live & breathe underwater, still yet other sea creatures survive at ocean depths where d pressures & heat can kill a man. Most animals make and hear sounds that are below or beyond our hearing capabilities (ultra and infra-sound), other animals see beyond our color spectrum.

The fact is if these beings exist, they might as well be breathing Liquid Nitrogen, have no human-like appearance, & allergic to sunlight; so we necessarily do not have to go as far as looking for planets that have earth-like characteristics. Still yet, these beings may even co-exist with us here on earth, but in a different dimension that transcends our physical capabilities such that both (or more) worlds do not even interact.

It is easy to assume that Aliens will look like us because we will always try to analyze them with our 5 senses, whereas this might not necessarily be so. undecided

CultureRe: Do African People Even Care About Tradition, Culture, Language And Heritage Stil by alienYOUTH(m): 3:20pm On Jul 10, 2014
Irrespective of where you come from, it is where u r going to that matters; for of more importance is the end of a thing than the beginning.

I'm not going to mince words and i'll be very brief.

It is only a reprobate that sees light and decides to live in the dark. The reason why we are adults is to be able to judge for ourselves what is good and follow accordingly. Everyman will be held responsible for his actions and beliefs, and he will subsequently be judged by them; so i'm not going to force my beliefs down anyone's throat, I'm just stating the logic behind my beliefs, you state yours.

Not everything the "western world" has to offer is good & pure, but i dare say 90% of what we are today is because of the enlightenment they have brought back to Africa. The "White men" did not drop from space, we were all created the same time; but they chose to leave culture and tradition behind and seek knowledge.

Africa is the birthplace of the human race, this has been proven scientifically. if you look at the map of the world, you will see that the further away from Africa a country is, the more advanced they appear to be; this is because some select few decided to leave the comfort of tradition behind and seek enlightenment.

I dare say, my "African" tradition has little to offer me besides laziness and darkness; I will be glad if someone can enlighten me otherwise. If the "white people" refused to come back to Africa to enlighten us, we will still be sitting on our myopic, though content, prehistoric butts.

The people who refuse to be negatively "westernized" (China, Russia, etc) have cultures and traditions that work and it is obvious they are progressing, i will definitely be singing a different tune if my African tradition could boast of the same. So in the absence of that, i would gladly shove my dark culture down the drain and embrace that which gives me light and a better life, after all, culture was made by/for man and not vice versa.

Anything in life that plans to remain relevant has to evolve and adapt; be it a business, culture, or even human beings themselves. So if the hypocritical few on this forum decide they want to set their traditions and culture in stone, then only time will tell, because even stone will succumb to erosion with time.

My data subscriptions on MTN jst about expired and after reading an earlier topic on this forum about their tariff increase and discontinuation of some plans, i was getting ready to dump them for Airtel (I did some serious research and found out Airtel now had comparable data plans)...only for me to mistakenly check their site and find they had quietly reverted their prices. God save them say e no easy to migrate all my business contacts to another network, i for don dump em tay tay. Jst because person wan chop beef no mean sey e go dey worship d malu na.

PhonesRe: Weak Points Of Blackberry Phones by alienYOUTH(m): 7:12pm On Jul 24, 2012
Its ironic when some BB fans claim other peeps castigate BB cos they cant afford it, when they (BB fans) use it cos of d affordable data plans. :p
The sad thing tho is dat most pple jst jump on d bandwagon of d smartphone frenzy without actually defining wat they want it to do for them or wat they want to use it for. I am not a slave to tech, i dont purchase cos of hype, i make it work for me; technology is a 'means'...not an 'end'. There r a lot of hungry pple out there u can help instead of buying tech stuff for ridiculous sums jst to make a statement.
Accept it or not, d truth behind d BB craze is basically social networking; BBM, Facebook, Twitter etc...beyond this, d BB has little to offer than other smart phones in d industry because its too restrictive, u jst cant tinker wit d brains & customize/install unauthorized soft or do wild stuff generally.

Without much yarns, i use a Nokia E6 & it works HARD for me; Internet browsing is a breeze anytime. Once i have d relevant data plan engaged, i dont need to have a separate plan for my laptop, i can teether remotely by bluetooth; it even has native software to generate a wifi hotspot. Touchscreen and QWERTY pad...navigation is awesome. GPS & Nokia maps for offline turn-by-turn voice navigation with sufficiently detailed 9ja map or any other country for dat matter. Java apps to access d GPS functionality to track & save my trips & export to google earth format, 8mp full focus camera to take geotagged images so i dont have to manually record d locations; dual led flash dat doubles as torchlight (no need for app); gorilla glass; push email for instant delivery; enuff social ntwk software to install; 8gb internal memory & mem card slot...all for N50,000; saved me d cost & inconvenience of carrying around a GPS handheld, torchlight, modem and digicam. A true Swiss army knife phone.

If u knw wat u want to achieve and ur tech does it for u, by all means carry on...no need to belittle d other man cos he uses a basic phone. Its jst stupid when pple waste money on tech they dont fully utilize jst cos of d status symbol it exudes, or jst for entertainment & meaningless chatter when it shld be making money for u like any other wise investment.
Car TalkRe: How Many Kilometres Can Your Car Travel Per Litre Of Fuel? by alienYOUTH(m): 1:55am On Jul 18, 2012
My first car dint hav a speedometer/fuel gauge; d whole friggin dashboard dint work sef, so i relied on d "holy ghost" & a spare 4L gallon of fuel in d trunk to get by.

The general story of how i calculate mine wit my current car is i always fill up my tank and reset d counter. My fuel gauge has 4 spaces (5 tick marks) btw empty and full. I noticed dat d gauge doesn't normally lift from d full positn until i clock 100km, every other tickmark is approx an additional 100km, so by d time i reach 1/2 tank i shld hav clocked 300km.
Never ridden my car empty before, usually refill @ 1/2 tank (considering d way fuel scarcity can jump on u in dis country) and d station pump usually reads 25L +/- so i knw my tank is like 50L.

From d above story, i now knw my car rides at 300km/25L = 12km/L optimum. If my gauge lifts from empty before i clock 100km or reaches halftank before i clock 300km repeatedly, i know there's a problem wit my car somewhere.

EducationRe: Flogging Children In School And At Home: Good Or Bad? Whats Your Take? by alienYOUTH(m): 4:07pm On Jul 09, 2012
Patsey: Legally speaking, flogging is a violation of the child's right to freedom from torture, or degrading treatment or punishment. This is purely a fundamental and an inalienable right which must not be violated. Psychologically, it is not good for children. A child who suffers violence potentially becomes a violent person
Violence, Torture? Who said anything about torturing d kids. I agree there's a tendency for physical punishment to be abused, but not enough for it to be abolished. Dats why schools now report chidren to d police for unruly behaviour instead of dealing directly wit it. If d Western way is sacrosanct, then why do they still have the police or correctional facilities!?! Only pple who were abused as kids or are currently not parents make such untenable laws.
Humans r unruly by nature, much less kids...hence d need for law and punishment to put things in order. Nigeria is where it is today because of parents who have westernized d way they discipline their kids, and a system dat handles errants wit kid gloves.
EducationRe: Flogging Children In School And At Home: Good Or Bad? Whats Your Take? by alienYOUTH(m): 4:50am On Jul 09, 2012
Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being (Prov 20:30).

You can only speak sense to someone who has d capacity to reason...kids don't. U jst have to draw d line btw correcting in love and child abuse. I have 3 kids and i don't spare d rod at all wit them, i jst make sure ample warnings b4 comboing them so they knw why they r being spanked. It gets to a time tho when they attain d right mental capacity where a few slaps and words of reasoning/warning will be sufficient to pass d message across.

The main problem is parents leave their kids till too late b4 they start spanking them...btw ages 1 to 3 is when u r s'posed to 'rod' d child, it tapers after then & is s'posed to be replaced wit verbal reprimand. If by 10yrs u r still actively beating ur kid, then i'm afraid u have failed...it will have little effect from then on.

Let me advice d unmarried folks here telling d Lady to stay put & endure...dat wuld b d biggest mistake anyone can make in their life, to 'endure' a marriage.
Honestly, its bttr to remain single for life than to stay in a wrong marriage; this one dat they dont have any kids btw them, she shld jst jejely pack her load and waka. Even if d guy 'comes to his senses' & begs, she shld nvr look back cos this incidence will haunt her for life.
Nobody can hav a succesful partnership without time invested, & i'm sorry to say but marriage is especially hard on women, u jst have to choose between marriage/family & a career.

PoliticsRe: Theories To Explain The Backward State Of Africa by alienYOUTH(m): 1:06am On May 10, 2012
ROSSIKE: The first thing required to return Africa to its former state of glory - which of course you're too brainwashed, misedsucated and ignorant to appreciate, is to TRAIN poeple like you in TRUE African history. Something you know ZERO about.

A brief synopsis:
Ahem... angry Ogbeni Rasque or wetin be ur name; i was thinkin of not dignifying ur tirade wit a retort cos u r obviously more educated @ googling stuff than i am, but it baffles me how someone who is so learned can be so low in morals as to vehemently attack my person when clearly we r deliberating on an issue here, abi did u see me abuse anyone on this 3 page long topic? It's obvious u lack skills in effective communication, or why else would u descend to unnecessary insults and violence...this trait i believe is one of the main reasons Africa is backward and constantly at war.

I never for once disputed the fact that Africa is the origin of life and civilization, thats wat even makes it more painful. Unlike you tho, i choose not to hold on to past achievement when clearly the present (where we are) and future (where we need to be) are clearly what matter. My theory still stands tho, that the smart ones (the ones u say invented writing and all u listed) migrated from here cos of sorry-a.s.s hostile narcissists like you who wouldn't let them know peace. Oya sidon there dey chop ur papa past achievements while i go out to conquer the world...then come back and "colonize" ur lazy brain. cool

By the way do u stutter or somethin, cos i'm wondering why u had to repost ur tired piece severally in a bid to get someone to read it. undecided
PoliticsRe: Theories To Explain The Backward State Of Africa by alienYOUTH(m): 5:30pm On May 09, 2012
This particular question has always intrigued me...why is "Africa the dark continent?". Correct me if i'm wrong, but it has been proven that life originated from Africa, so d argument about our plight being imposed on us by colonialism and western civilization need not even exist.

Biblically, it was d "Tower of Babel" saga that started d whole "migration to other parts of d world" thingy. Its my belief that d smart ones were d adventurous who left to populate d ends of d earth, while d selfish & greedy stayed back.

To cut short d long tale; i believe there's something about our black skin that bleeds thru & corrupts our hearts and minds. We r naturally diabolical, myopic, selfish & take no responsibility for our actions, whilst our lighter skinned fellows r d exact opposite...or how else will u explain how they built d Titanic in 1912, whilst 100yrs later d whole african nation is yet to come up with a bicycle built from scratch.

When Isaac Newton sat under d proverbial apple tree contemplating all wat not & d fruit dropped on his head, that very day gravity was discovered. i hate to think of how many coconuts fell on my fellow African man's head without more result than a slight concussion & percieved curse from d gods.

PhonesRe: Blackberry Internet Vs. Smartphone Internet Data by alienYOUTH(m): 1:44am On Nov 25, 2011
francis247:
what ir the difference between Wifi and Wifi hotspot?
Wifi/WLAN is the wireless internet service itself, the device dat broadcasts this service is d HOTSPOT e.g. d router. A hotspot also refers to an area where u can get (free) wifi service.

u can turn ur laptop into a hotspot & thus broadcast ur internet connection (LAN or USB modem) so dat other pple & ur mobile phone can wirlessly access it (Wifi/Wlan). u can manually configure ur windows to do this, jst google d procedure for ur operating system (i use WinXP) or download a third party software like one person suggested earlier on this thread.

i used to browse with my phone thru my laptop USB modem connection using this procedure, also used to share wit my wife @ home so no need to physically remove d modem from my laptop. But i ditched d procedure since i got my Nokia E6 which comes wit a built-in soft (Joiku) dat can turn d phone into a Wifi Hotspot. So i jst subscribe to d internet plan wit my phone & i dont need to put on my laptop any time i wnt to do so minor mobile browsing (tho i found out dat a bluetooth connection browsing is faster than d hotspot option).
