Take heart,cheers
I don't know why I feel it could be papular urticaria with keloid scars from the healed lesions.

My Nairaland family,
Please help me for my daughter's case. We have done a lot, biopsy and six months constant medication and all yielded no results. All manner of traditional medicine have been prescribed. It has spread all over her body. I am emotionally drained. House please help me.
Has seen a dermatologist yet?
If she has, it may be good to know what they said about the diagnosis, the care plan and the expected outcome.
I know many people would usually want to seek for second opinion when the opinion of an excerpt doesn't sit well. If she's not seen a dermatologist yet, I would advise she does that.

HealthRe: The Doctors Want To Amputate My Mum's Leg. Advice Needed by alstacs(m): 5:27pm On Nov 08, 2021
Spark2:
Hello NL.
I'm going to keep this brief.

It started three weeks ago. my mum, who was walking normal with no problem suddenly could not walk. Her left leg began paining her severely that day. My mum was all in tears... She was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that her sugar level was on the high side. The hospital gave drugs which stabilised it, at that point my mum was very weak, couldn't eat, each time she eat she throws up and also had some pain in the leg still. After a week in the hospital, we were then referred to a teaching hospital after a test showed that creatinine in her kidney was high.

The teaching hospital tried their best and I can say my mum is now okay. Except for the left leg. She can't still walk on it, the leg feels cold to touch with a little discolouration above the foot.

Doppler test showed that blood isn't really flowing through the leg. And they said they will need to amputate the leg to prevent the infection from growing to the other parts of the body.

Please I want to know if you know anyone who had similar condition and amputation was recommended but was later healed without need for amputation.

Please share your recommendations. I need my mum now more than before in my life. We are confused on whether to allow them to go on with the amputation or seek other alternatives.

Thank you very much.

Pls note that as at now, her sugar level, creatinine and other things are normal.
Let them inform you properly and encourage her to consent urgently as this may be lifesaving. She may end up losing her life if the bad leg is not removed immediately.
I assume from the discussion with the doctors, she and you understand..
1. Why she needs the amputation
2. What may happen if she doesn't do it
3. If there are alternatives and what the consequences of choosing them are.

Talk to her. She should consent. I realized my comment is coming too late.
I wish you well and wish her a quick recovery.

This is a good one. That was the question I asked my electrician that with all these protection in the house, earthing of the panels, surge protectors etc.., what happens if there is a surge from any of the 3 phases of the transformer?
I guess this should come to the rescue?

Do you know a ''reputable" installer connected the panels in a 3_2_3 config, n turned around to conclude the hybrid inverter was defective grin
You are right bro. We had to review the roof lighting arrestor earthing and the earthing KD the house. Then got the surge protectors that were never part of the installation before. There was reliance on the lightning surge protector on the roof.

the answer to your question is yes. a lightning or surge protection device is very much necessary for your bungalow
to protect your solar installation. however, you did not state if yours is a new building without earthing or already existing
building with a good earthing system. if your building already has a good earth, all you need do is to incorporate an
spd (surge protective device) like the midnite solar mnspd 150 and mnspd 300 and you're fine. budget for this would
be under 250k to 300k i think.
note that installing a 'thunder arrestor' as we normally call all those copper spikes on top of your roof will not necessarily
save your solar investment from lightning strikes. i learnt that lesson the hard way in my former abode.

https://www.solar-electric.com/suprdemn.html
https://www.solar-electric.com/midnite-solar-mnspd-300-ac-surge-protector.html
I empathize with those who lost parts of their systems as a result of lightning. I have been a victim as well. My lightning surge protector on the roof is superb with its earthing but it didn't stop my CCTV and inverter from getting roasted.
Nice enlightenment in your post sir but I want to ask about a different type of surge protector I saw and installed.
Does this also work line the Midnite one? Seems to be on the high side in cost compared to others.

I was almost losing my mind initially as well till I was calmed by responses here.
Just 2 days ago, it rained all the day and the sun disappeared from about 3pm and NEPA too took of their supply. My 3 bars of battery run from that time till day break and still remained 3 bars by 6am when the mppt took over. I started with a voltage of about 50.2 and ended up with 48.9 in the morning, sill on 3 bars.

@NiyiOmoIyunade actually gave an extensive report that seemed to ahve helped me.
I did interact with the engineer attacked the supplier of my inverter and the I was visited by Multipower Engineer.
Both of them agreed with the post of NiyiOmoIyunade here and the conclusion was that I should ignore the 3 bars and should not be scared of the low the voltage I see since the battery carries the the expected load for the duration expected.
I've been enjoying my set up since then and my oga @Durodee self knows say him don de rest from my panic calls and messages grin since I got all these explanations.
However, the Multipower office still reminded me my batteries are under warrantee and they are ready to collect and replace them within that 1 and half year period if they perform suboptimally.

Thank you very much sir for the prompt and detailed response. I just came off the phone with an engineer for the inverter company. It was a long an educative long and he actually mentioned exactly these facts. He also advised we change the settings of the inverter for higher voltage as per the manual. and batteries parameters. Sincerely, this is the first time I am hearing specific parameters in figures on tubular batteries and I am sincerely grateful to you for this. I will crosscheck with their engr for their specific figures in case they are different.

For the equilisation, the inverter by default does that and it think it was set to do that every 60 days though or anytime the battery terminals are disconnected from the inverter, If I remember well. I will check this again and revert. At the last reset, they batteries got to over 60V but subsequently about 58V. In fact, the day I saw 60V I was scared the inverter was overcharging the batteries till I read the manual again.
The unfortunate thing , for those who know this Multipower battery, no parameters are printed on the body or the carton of the batteries. There is no document in the package that guides aside the fact that they are tubular batteries. I can assure you the batteries were not tampered with, the Indian boss is even ready to swap the batteries but he needs to be sure the batteries are actually bad.

Actions to be taken based on your advise:
1. I'll pick the brain of the Battery company engineer when he comes as per the batteries parameters
2. Set the inverter charging settings appropriately instead of the default for "tubular batteries".

Once again, I do appreciate and do not take for granted your guidance. I know how busy folks are and yet have time to address issues here. God bless boss. I will revert back when the Engr comes.

NiyiOmoIyunade:
Yes flooded batteries indeed exhibit lower voltage than other lead acid chemistries while at rest and at work.

However at 58v you are not charging your batteries to full. In general flooded batteries need to get to a minimum of about 14.6v per 12v battery i.e 58.4v for the battery pack. Ideally they should absorb at 14.7 to 14.8v per 12v battery which is a range of 58.8v to 59.2v for the battery pack.

Every month or so, you need to equalize the batteries and get them into the 15v per 12v battery range

It will be useful to read your battery data sheet (some info should be on the battery case) and adjust charging parameters accordingly if your inverter is capable.

If at any point in troubleshooting , the dealer swapped out or topped off electrolyte, then you are in a delicate place as they may have used too strong or too weak of a mix - an hydrometer is your best friend to know the SG and SoC of your batteries and inform your next steps.

Good morning great people.
Please I have a pressing issue and it seems I'm either ignorant or my batteries have issues.
I use a hybrid THUNDERVOLT Inverter, 3.5KVA, 48V with 70A MPPT Charger inbuilt.
My PV arrays are 260W x9.
I use 4 multipower tubular batteries.
From the first time after installation, the batteries were left to charge for 4 days without any load on the inverter and they got at about 57 to 58V. And most times the MPPT is on float about this charge.
but as soon as the charging sources are switched off, the battery indicators drop 2 bars out of 5 to show inky 3 bars of battery reserve left without any load. Battery Voltage then drops to 48 to 48.8V with each battery reading 12.2V.
After going back and forth and taking the batteries back to the dealer to be charged etc.., the engineer of the company told me that that is the way tubular batteries behave.

NB it is difficult to assess the backup reserve of the batteries, I'm quite engaged these days. However there is minimal load on the inverter, it's just for lighting and TV only for now. Testing that for up to 12 hours, the batteries dropped from 3 bars to 2 bars.

Kindly advise, do tubular batteries behave this way?
Are my batteries bad?
Is my inverter failing to display a true state of charge of the batteries?

Also, people default to running ACs at 16. I'm sure a lot here do this as well. The AC has a thermostat for a reason. My AC hardly goes below 25 and its comfortably cold. I'm saving about half the amount of energy in this case compared to running at 16
The strange thing also is the fact that those who run ACs at 16°C enter into cycles of too cold too hot. From too cold, they switch off till it's too warm and repeat the cycle again starting and killing the compressor several times. I guess it's all part of the general impatience around us

Why are kitchens like this rare in Nigeria though??
Aside cost and the fact that we actually build our houses from little drops of funds as they come, this is likely to be an open kitchen and it's part of the sitting room. In that case, they design the finishing to be presentable and functional

Reason why I ask my client to let us use block cabinet against fully HDF or mdf cabinet to save cost on this our medium finishings work on this project.

All still under 250k
I saved about 200k on this single kitchen
This is beautiful. I've always detested block work cos they usually appear ugly and less functional. However, this is really beautiful and well constructed.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by alstacs(m): 7:54pm On Aug 15, 2021

Since it is between panels and CC, kúkú bypass the AC MCB by connecting the input wires from the panels into the same corresponding output wire screw socket on the MCB. That way, the current goes direct from the panels to CC and you can take your time to source for a proper DC MCN without creating for yourself an unwarranted "power holiday"
I considered that but there is this part of me that is scared of anything that may happen that may create a story that touches the depth of the heart. Also, Murphys law kept ringing in my head.
Funny enough, despite these issues, there have been days I got as much as 4Kwh as long as the sun isn't so so bright.

I want to understand something, your said MCB was placed where in the DC Circuitry?

1. Before inverter PV input

2. Between inverter and battery
The tripping breaker is between the Solar panels and the charge controller. And it is AC instead of DC.

If it trips off then it's doing it's job unless you are saying it's tripping off at the current it's not rated for
It's an AC breaker rated 100A and my inverter is hybrid with a 70A MPPT. Once the sun is bright and the MPPT is charging in the range of 20 to 30A in bulk, the breaker trips off. Any charging current below that, it won't.
The panels are 9 in 3x3 stings. Each of them is 260W, Imp 8.82A, Vmp 31V. The cables are appropriate and were even revised just to be sure. The only option left was to change the breaker to the appropriate DC.
NB, a similar breaker within the same box on the AC side works fine.

Oga no vex ooo but I think you don't trust your wife with money of her own which means you are insecure, I don't know if there's a past with your wife that contributed to this or just fear of " she won't be obedient any more if she pays her own bills" that some men has.

Secondly, what's wrong with your wife giving money to her people? They are your in laws and when you have you should be giving them from time to time.

Thirdly, I don't think your wife is interested in knowing everything, it seems you are just secretive with information. You don't give her full details on vital things she should know about. Hence any one she gets to know she wants to influence it to her favor.

In conclusion.
I'm not supporting my fellow woman, I deduce the above from your writeup. My husband tells me everything but at the right time, there are things he will tell me before, during, after or may never tell me sometimes for my own benefit he won't tell me so that I won't act it out ( you know women nah) please be more open with most vital things about you she won't find reason to dig deep.

That's my 2 cent cool cool
Sincerely I would disagree with you a bit on some points based on my experience with people and families. Women in African cultures believe that the man must take care of the house single handedly. Quite a number of women actually help in home care while others do it but don't see it as their responsibility in assisting the man.
I respect women a lot and the need to take care of their own family where they emerged from. This need is real cos I see what my sisters do within my family as married women and I respect them and their husbands for such sacrifices.
Using this experience for my wife, I encourage her to take care of her family as much as possible and I support on this as well.
However, a number of women are unable to set priorities clearly when resources are scarce. I've seen women hold money, pump money to their extended family while the husband struggles to keep the immediate family afloat. Imagine when resources are low, borrowing money as a man to just get the basics but your wife is fine but attending luxury in her family while her immediate family suffers. I think this is misplacement of priority.
These are not stereotypes but I've heard a lot of women give reasons for abandoning their husbands "to perform his responsibility" alone. Those who finance side chicks come mind readily.
Concluding, every family is unique in their financing style and such, in my opinion, should place priority on our immediate rather than extended families. While we are at this, women should be encouraged to take their extended families but not at the detriment of their immediate nuclear families
