Politics / Re: Voters Belief In President Buhari's Integrity Led To His Victory - The Economist by amabid: 11:34am On Feb 28, 2019
Nigerians were killed, shot dead, maimed, harrased, intimidated and cheated yet the world turned the other side. Just when Nigerians collectively for the first time wanted to use their pvcs to truly elect their leader, their long queues in the sun was made mockery of the impunities and atrocities that occurred on february 23rd, 2019. Well, I look up to God who sees in the day and night. I look up to God who created us and saw that day before us. I look up to God who fights battle without losing.
Politics / Re: Flashback: You And Atiku Will End Up In Shame — Mbaka Tells Peter Obi by amabid: 11:25am On Feb 28, 2019
ojikeebere12:
Ejike Mbaka, spiritual director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), says Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi, his running mate, might “end in shame” with the way they are going.

The Catholic priest said this after Obi failed to make donations at the ministry’s 2018 harvest and bazaar celebration.

Obi attended the programme which held during the weekend alongside other politicians from the south-east.

Standing by his side, Mbaka asked him to “stay in front of this children of God and tell God what you will do for Him … or what that means is, you don’t want to do anything for God. This is common deceit.”

Obi replied: “Father, what I said is straightforward. You will come and show me the project so that the two of us will talk. That is what I said.”

Mbaka then accused the former governor of Anambra of making “political statement” to which he responded: “Father knows I don’t make political statements. Anyone here from Anambra state knows Peter Obi has never promised anything and failed. I am a fundamental Catholic. I do whatever I say at the church.”

The priest said in response: “In your capacity and what God has done for you as governor … God hates stinginess. What I am saying is not to please you, but what will save your life. Otherwise you and Atiku will fail.

“If there is a place they will coat words for you, it is not at Mbaka’s altar. You can save your political destiny. Or in 2019, you people will not even know how they did the election. What will make my brother to come for bazaar and he won’t even break kola?”

Mbaka went on to tell Obi how governors of Ebonyi and Enugu made donations without announcing at the altar and urged him to do same.

“Your own is taking time,” he said, adding: “The way you and Atiku are moving will end in shame”.

“Let us continue our bazaar. You know since he is not supporting us, the ministry has been moving. If people start arguing like this, their downfall begins,” he said.

The priest also said he would make prediction regarding the 2019 presidential election come December 31.

"IPOB will liberate Biafra and we will not take part in any election until we get a referendum and this is not negotiable, we will achieve this by every necessary means, we thank Isreal for all the contributions they made to IPOB"
Nnamdi Kanu

Who is IPOB and what is IPOB. Nnamdi kanu, go and read more about Nelson Mandela, he paid a price to liberate SA. Of course, I don't support python dance but then there are more civil ways to fight for freedom. Insulting people will never get you anywhere. Tread carefully and be more humble if you really believe you can liberate the Igbos. Are you even ready to lay down your own life in the course of this fight otherwise stop brainwashing innocent Igbo youths. Honestly, check out history of freedom fighters, cowardice does not depict them. I like you my brother but the earlier you diplomatically go about this the better for ndi Igbo. Have you ever asked yourself whether you can really lead ndi Igbo. The SE has been shouting marginalisation and yet they made Obi running mate of Atiku and you all started shouting. Well, I see all pockets of groups in Igbo land as greedy and ambitious people who don't even have the audacity to lead ndi Igbo.
Nnamdi Kanu, do not destabilise the SE, I wasn't part of the civil war and I don't wish to ever be part of any. Yes, the 5%has indeed affected the SE. Nevertheless, I believe that the moment every citizen of Nigeria sees her first before his /her tribe then we shall begin to get things right. IPOB, allow SE exercise their franchise, I shall cast my vote and you can't stop me. Please don't attract another viper dance for us. Nnamdi, to prove your love for biafra willingly turn in yourself to appropriate authorities. Until then, I am left to agree with some quarters that there are ulterior motives behind all these freedom fights.
Politics / Re: Northern Political Leaders Divided Over Buhari, Atiku by amabid: 10:40am On Oct 21, 2018
Anambralstson:
According to Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, former ACF Political Secretary, “if we have to obey the zoning order it has to be from the North”
The emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded convention of the party held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has created a division among northern political leaders.

They are split into two groups as strong emotions are now building up among them.
Outburst of mixed feelings of emotional resilient displeasure and great happiness were freely revealed at the weekend as some of the leaders gave enthusiastic support to the emergence of Atiku.

According to Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, former ACF Political Secretary, a security surveillance expert and erstwhile adviser on politics, security and economy to the late ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Wazirin Jema’a, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed, “if we have to obey the zoning order it has to be from the North and while it is there we are trying to make sure we put our best foot forward.

Buhari has disappointed everybody. He is not our best foot forward, if we put him on the scale of things in Nigeria. As for Atiku, as bad and dysfunctional as the situation is, he is better than Buhari a million times. So, if the rule of Pharaoh, if Buhari is insisting on going on to rule Nigeria, God that removed Pharaoh will remove Buhari. And that is what we are thinking right now.

“Atiku, even though people criticize him, he is the best we can give at the moment. He understands leadership. All the things happening in Nigeria and all that happened between him and other aspirants is about one Nigeria, not about anti-corruption. Nigeria belongs to all of us. With the corruption Buhari is fighting they are still stealing black and blue in Aso Rock.

“If Buhari and his household are enjoying Nigeria’s money why should the poor people continue to wallow in poverty and squalor? So, Atiku is bringing a ray of hope for Nigerians and that is why they will vote for him.”

Mohammed was supported by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF leader, Yerima Shettima, who told Sunday Sun that the emergence of Atiku is a welcome development.

For Shettima, the former vice president has the capacity to face those he described as monsters, “who are against the collective interest of Nigerians and Nigeria,” adding that “for all I know about him personally, he has the capacity.”

Although he noted that the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum is not partisan, the northern youths’ leader eulogized Atiku for believing in Nigeria and not being nepotistic, remarking also that his conviction about Atiku’s capability to turn things around was not being misplaced.

But Second Republic governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, disagreed, saying that Buhari is better than Atiku, hinging his support for Buhari on the backing of Atiku by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his former military colleagues.
He said such a support was indicative of a gang up by the ruling elite in the country, insisting that Nigerians are safer with Buhari than Atiku.

I have not seen any qualitative demonstrative difference between him and Buhari and between APC and PDP. The negative state of the nation will not change. We still need qualitative, demonstrative third alternative. Whether that can come under the present realities of Nigeria is another matter,” he said.

Asked to limit his choice of candidate to between Atiku and Buhari, Balarabe submitted: “I hope I will not have to choose, but as I said if it becomes impossible under the conditions in Nigeria to have a third alternative and it is possible with the dilemma in which we are in Nigeria, if we are unable to get a third alternative, in that case I will rather go for Buhari because he is the reality on the ground.

And with the alliances that the PDP has now, particularly in the form of former Heads of State who contributed immensely to the negative state of the nation, in view of that alliance I think the table has turned from 2015 to 2019. In 2015 we thought because of the fascist tendencies of Buhari the PDP and Jonathan were less fascists, but now the table has turned to make the PDP even more fascist than the APC because of its new alliances with the former Heads of State.”

However, Dr Umar Ardo, secretary of Northern Leaders and Stakeholders Assembly, former governorship candidate and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State and former Political Adviser to Atiku who sued President Muhammadu Buhari for conferring honours on the late MKO Abiola and Amb. Babagana Kingibe, refused to comment on the Atiku candidacy in his party.

Asked to comment on the emergence of his former boss as the PDP standard bearer, Ardo quickly shot back thus: “Kenny, I don’t want to express an opinion. Just say I do not want to express an opinion. That some people are keeping mum is in itself a story.”
Ardo had previously criticized the Buhari government on two grounds: “I cannot see the president being re-elected for two reasons. First, he has not made any appreciable impact in improving the standard of living of Nigerians; if anything, things have deteriorated.

Secondly, it is apparent that the president cannot effectively utilize power for the benefit of society.”

Also, Dr Junaid Mohammed, an elder statesman, former Second Republic lawmaker and maverick politician and fierce critic of the Buhari administration would not want to comment on the emergence of Atiku as the PDP’s presidential candidate.

Here is an excerpt from his short encounter with Sunday Sun: With the emergence of Atiku as the presidential candidate of the PDP, would you say the political equation has changed because this is a direct battle between Buhari and Atiku?

Well, somehow I have not decided to speak on the issue. I have not spoken to any media outlet; so not now. Maybe I will have to study the matter very closely. You know I am not a member of APC or PDP. Frankly, I think it is premature to pass any comment now. I will like to study the situation and see what happens. But I have observed that there is not much commentary. I don’t know if that is supposed to indicate the state of mind of the people. I don’t know.

But have you been speaking the minds of the people or your personal convictions in your earlier comments?
It’s my conviction.

Why would you not speak now stating your conviction on the matter?

I said I have not studied the situation. So, when I study the situation and make up my mind I will speak. I have never been anybody’s megaphone. Sometimes my convictions tally with what others think and sometimes it doesn’t.

Pressed further, Junaid said: “I said I am not going to comment on that. I am sure you just want to be a journalist that you are. You heard me loud and clear. I don’t intend to comment.” A reliable political source told Sunday Sun that, ”they are intimidating some of the politicians in the North.

Wallahi, they are intimidating them, although there are those not talking based on principles. And some of them have been reached from Abuja. Those that have been reached are no longer as vocal as they used to be.

I do not know if you have observed that.”

Balarabe Musa, because obasanjo has supported Atiku, you have chosen to pitch tent with buhari. So Balarabe, in 2015,when obasanjo supported buhari your memory of the same obasanjo contributing to Nigerias' woes were quickly erased. So petty, obasanjo has suddenly become an enemy to Apc. Meanwhile, when he tore his PDP membership card, you all clapped and hailed him. Take it or leave it, Nigerians are getting wiser and will keep trying her luck on leaders till she gets it right.

ELVISHOT:
APC supporters are alleging that Peter Obi, the PDP Vice Presidential candidate, has a house in London as opposed to claiming he only has a house in Onitsha.

It all started when Yekini Nabena, APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, tweeted a document alleging that Peter Obi is the owner of a mansion in London. The said document allege the property was acquired in 2001.

Nobody is sure if this is propaganda or if there is truth in the allegations.

Replying Yekini Nabena, a Twitter user and APC support, Nuel Makara @MakaraNuel tweeted photos of house he claims is owned by Peter Obi in London.

Other APC supporters jumped at it and have been trending it on twitter.

nted out that the Said document shows that Obi acquired the alleged property in 2001 before he became Anambra Governor.

Meanwhile, here is Dr. Peter Obi talking about owning one house in Onitsha in an interview.

We hope Dr Peter Obi will soon react and give a better explanation.

Politics / Re: Ekiti’s Economy Heading For Emergency – Fayemi by amabid: 4:42pm On Oct 16, 2018
CROWNWEALTH019:
The Ekiti state’s economy is heading for a state of emergency with a huge debt of N120 billion, the new governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said on Tuesday in his inauguration speech in Ado-Ekiti.
The governor appealed to the federal government for assistance to bail out the state through the Economic Stabilisation Fund.
While committing to address the problems of unpaid salaries of workers, Fayemi said: “We should join hands to resuscitate the ailing economy.’’

He also called on investors and multi-national corporation to return to Ekiti.

The governor said the state was currently battling with more than N170 billion debt piled up by the government of former Ayodele Fayose.
The state, he said, would embark on social investment, education, agriculture and rural development.

We are ready to work with everyone to create a landmark progress.

We are committing to world best practices and deploy all skills to honestly work for the progress of the state.

“We will work to integrating the aspiration of the state to the programme of the federal government.’’

He said the state would return to the fold of other states in the west to fast track economic development.

“We will take full ownership of the challenges ahead of us.’’

He said this in an interview with Channels television where he also said that President Buhari is targeting Corruption in Nigeria at the highest level.

CilicMarin:
By Yinka Ajayi National Chairman of the United Progressive Party, UPP, Chief Chekwas Okorie, in this interview, outlines why the South-East and South-West should back President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election and speed up power shift to the South among other national issues.

Nigeria is still a work in progress but it’s unfortunate that we are in election mood. While those in government are busy convincing Nigerians that they have done

On President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war Nobody can take that from them because they were able to fight the anti-corruption war headlong.

But for some to call the anti-corruption war of this administration a selective fight is illogical. Because the issue of fraud and corruption does not expire. It’s a matter that lasts over time. And a government that is serious has to start from somewhere. If it’s one sided, who will they arrest, is it other innocent Nigerians or Chekwas Okorie who had never gone near government resources or treasury?

And some particular Nigerians had access to the treasury for 16 good years. If they start from there and another government comes to power, they can continue from there. I always remind those that say anti-corruption war is one-sided of an Igbo proverb that says: A River can only drown somebody whose feet it has seen. If you did not go near the river, how can it drown you? Are they saying if they stole and the other people stole, it should be cancelled? It’s only a corrupt man that will say that. They are not even ashamed that they had 16 years to rule and they messed the whole country up. They laid the foundation for recession.

Before I sound like the ruling party spokesperson, everybody knows that they had a higher source of revenue, by the time this government came, we had less than 7billion dollars in foreign reserve now we are talking about 42 to 46 billion in our foreign reserves.

Despite the situation we have found ourselves, there have been indications of prudence in resource management.

Nobody who will say agriculture has not received the kind of boost we are beginning to experience more certain growth and genuine infrastructural development.

The Buhari’s administration attitude not to cancel contracts approved by the previous government because his government didn’t award them, and encouraging contractors to go back to site is unprecedented.

We are now beginning to look at railway as a source of transportation; Agriculture has a quantum leap in development and is affecting Urban-Rural migration positively.

So things may not be automatic but things are looking up. For us in UPP, we decided not to field a presidential candidate so that we can use this period to consolidate and build a solid structure for 2023.     So for me, the Buhari administration is good to go for second term because there is nothing in PDP that Nigerians are missing that will make me want them to come back. I can live with another four years of Buhari but may not be able to endure another eight years of PDP.

The reason is the person running under PDP moral baggage is known, his pasts are known and we know what they did with the opportunity they had when they were in power for 16 years. So a Leopard does not change its spots. The saying that the devil you know is better than the angels you don’t know is true.

In a situation where there are two devils, you can choose the better devil. To Nigerians that are ethnic minded, they are faced with two Fulani, the APC Fulani and the PDP Fulani. It is left for you to choose your own Fulani.

For me, Buhari has an uncompleted job and the way he is going is a path of progress.

It is for Nigerians to decide what they want but I personally will prefer another four years of Buhari before power shift to the South-West or South-East, than another eight years of another Fulani with the same spot and if you add it to the previous nightmare of the PDP it will be too much for Nigerians to bear.

Chekwas Welldone!!! You have spoken for yourself and your unborn generations. The truth is that as a Nigerian which I see first before my tribe, I am not after giving it to Igbo, yoruba or hausa, all I earnestly desire is an intelligent and smart leader who can lead Nigeria out of the quagmire and as such make me walk down the streets of not just Nigeria but that of overseas with my head high. I feel amazed by utterances of people like Chekwas and I ask whether it is the likes of Chekwas that look forward to representing ndi Igbo. Lauretta seems to be hungrier than a street beggar. The rate at which you insult people old enough to be your parents speaks volume of the fear in you that cannot afford to see a new government other than the present. I pity you because the gutter language you use depicts what you are. Amongst all the media aides, only you seem to be doing the derogatory aspect of the job. Even garba shehu does not insult Northern elites when the chips are down. Once Lauretta, you called CHristian Association of Nigeria (CAN), a can of worms. Well, you really need the garri and palm wine otherwise you won't be doing this gutter job. Calling obiano Peter obi's husband may sound funny and look like a hit for you but honestly I Pray for the healing of your soul and mind because your words are jokes carried on too far and at this point a psychiatric check on you may deliver your poor soul and mind. There must be a winner and a loser but don't be too scared of tomorrow, I am sure you were feeding well before now or is the food you are eating now imported from the Mars. Well, whoever or whatever is responsible for your attitude, I pray it sets you free otherwise you may be thinking you have arrived with this job but really, Lauretta you are in LIVING IN BONDAGE.
