Land mass or population is never used as criterion to create new political units in a country formed by different regions.

Northern Nigeria’s political leaders used northern military dictators to progressively create a whooping number of 19 states + Abuja in one northern region, but allowed only 17 states in the two southern regions that formed independent Nigeria with the northern region in 1960.

That political structure led to the political class in the south become lookers like Lucozade to northern Nigeria in Nigeria’s political process, as well as siphon most of shared revenues of the federal government to the northern region.

Now, southern politicians have a duty to do anything to make northern leaders agree to political restructuring or split Nigeria into more manageable countries.

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on Saturday visited the three offices of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The offices are in Ekwulobia, Neni and Awkuzu.

DAILY POST gathered that the governor during the visit granted bail unconditionally to three detainees illegally held by the defunct unit.

Speaking during the exercise, Governor Obiano said, “the Commissioner of Police in the state has released everyone detained illegally, and everyone remanded by the order of the court, will remain there until their cases are determined.”

Obiano had on Thursday sacked hie senior security aide, James Nwafor, who was formerly a SARS boss in the state before his appointment.

He had also promised to free detained persons and also ensure that Nwafor who was accused of killing and maiming many, was brought to book.

Obiano revealed that on Monday, he will inaugurate a panel that will entertain public petitions on the activities of SARS in the state, adding that the panel will be headed by a retired Chief Judge.
