HealthRe: How One Can Grow Tall by AmakaG29(f): 1:08am On Oct 15, 2011
Well for general health and wellness you need multiple sources of vitamins each day mainly from green vegetables and fruits. Genetics is the major part as previously stated but bone health and bone growth do have to do with what we eat. Your body produces vitamin D on its own with safe doses of sunlight (5-15 minutes a day on your face and hands usually does it). Added vitamin D can come from fortified juices and milk as well as many types of fish.

Calcium:
Broccoli
Okra
Kale
A variety of beans
Milk
Yogurt
Almonds

There are a lot of different foods that can be found online. Try to match your tastes, preferences, and the availability with what you can find a health and medical sites. Exercise! If you focus on health, you'll have the best body you can have.

Everything in moderation please. Every process involving the body is gradual and doing things excessively won't speed up the process.
FamilyRe: Why Do Most Women Maltreat Their Househelps? by AmakaG29(f): 12:56am On Oct 15, 2011
Power and authority over someone else in such an intimate setting is bound to lead to some friction. Many women don't have control over anything or anyone but they people they employ. When powerless people find themselves in power, it can corrupt the best person with the best intentions. I am not saying all women are powerless, but some are.

Another issue is that sometimes employees do things to provoke or upset their employers out of jealousy, bitterness, or malice. They need to be handled firmly and fairly because they pose a detriment to the household affairs. Many house employees have limited education and need to be trained, but that does not warrant abuse, verbal or physical.

When I think about the legacy of household servants in a variety of societies, abuse is a common trend. There may be something inherent in human nature like "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." I think a psychological approach may do more to solve the mystery than a condemnation of the women.

Try to be patient, fair, and understanding to women in the house and workers in the house. Everyone deserves respect.
FamilyRe: If Your Husband Has A Child Out Of Wedlock by AmakaG29(f): 12:48am On Oct 15, 2011
Situations like these need to be handled by mature adults because innocent lives and futures are at stake. Personally, there are too many men in the world for me to be with one who doesn't love me enough to protect me from such harm and disgrace. Having a baby out of wedlock means he risked your LIFE. Think of all the deadly diseases that his actions exposed you to. Marriage is a serious commitment made before God, but it will only succeed by living by God's will. How can you make a promise under God, break the promise, and then expect the bond to remain?

I am not married. I won't pretend to be an expert. Love leads to all kinds of sacrifices but please don't sacrifice healthy and sanity for anyone.
FamilyRe: Childhood Life. by AmakaG29(f): 12:33am On Oct 15, 2011
As a child I played outside with my friends, rode my bike, sang songs, read books with my mom, fought with my siblings, took care of my siblings, drew pictures, colored in coloring books, ate penny candy, lost teeth, lost friends, made friends, ate breakfast food at any time of the day, and acted my age

I had such an imagination that the world was mine smiley
FamilyRe: Why Do Nigerians Use People? by AmakaG29(f): 12:28am On Oct 15, 2011
People use people all the time. The word is full of greedy, plotting, disrespectful, heartless individuals. Many societies breed these sorts of individuals, especially societies where people struggle to live. Selflessness and love is an uphill battle in poverty. History has often shown that those who don't take advantage, get taken advantage of.

one word: COLONIZATION!!!!

Ok, that said, God loves us and we should try to love each other. There is good in the world, though people do bad things. I pity those who feel the need to lie, steal, and cheat. Who didn't love them? Who didn't give them opportunities? Who hurt them? They learned those ways from somewhere.

Love somebody, tis all.
FamilyRe: Help!my 11-year Old Niece Wants To Have S/E/X. by AmakaG29(f): 12:21am On Oct 15, 2011
Some of these comments are inappropriate.

Many parents begin conversations with their children about these things at too late an age because of the "she's too young to know what it is" mentality. It's not the parents' fault most of the time because that's the way they were raised.

Puberty is a normal stage in life that comes with hormone changes. Biologically, we are ready to reproduce so our bodies start wanting to reproduce. It is best now to talk to her as a young adult and let her know of the dangers, risks, and problems that comes with physical intimacy with either sex. Silent begats pregnancy, STIs, and emotional trauma. Punishing her for her feelings is not the right way to go either because she will resent you and not listen to sound advice. Shaming her will have a similar result. Words leave scars too.

Help her come up with ways to deal with her desires in a way that doesn't put her in danger whether it's prayer, knitting, kick boxing, or (dare I say it) self pleasure. I'm not going to get into a religious argument with anyone over my statement. If you disagree, tis so.

Outside influences like friends, television, music, and even other family members could undermine your efforts to help, be be firm, persistent, and let her know she is LOVED. Many girls turn to s-x because they don't know that they are loved.
FashionRe: Girls: Do You Really Need Makeup? by AmakaG29(f): 12:09am On Oct 15, 2011
No, I don't need it, but I like it. It's fun to experiment with different looks, especially for special occasions.

It's really not healthy for your skin to wear it everyday and in large quantities. Let your beauty glow with a clean face, moisturizer, and well shaped brows.
FashionRe: Fashion And Beauty Tips For Women by AmakaG29(f): 12:01am On Oct 15, 2011
From a friend of mine:

What's a girl to do when she can't keep her lipstick on?

Put a light layer of face powder on your clean lips.
Line your lips and fill them in with a lip liner that matches your lipstick.
Apply your lipstick to your lips with a lip brush, this ensures that the color is evenly distributed.
If you choose, apply a layer of lip gloss for added shine.

FashionRe: How Many Times Do You Wear Your Jeans Before Washing Them? by AmakaG29(f): 11:50pm On Oct 14, 2011
Definitely depends on where I wore them, what I was doing, and if they have visible evidence of what I was doing

I average two wears per wash

RomanceRe: Distant Relationship: Happy Ending? by AmakaG29(f): 11:45pm On Oct 14, 2011
I fully agree with the more positive takes.

Long distance relationships take patience, communication, trust, and a deeper level of commitment than relationships where proximity allows those things to develop with seeing one another. The ones I've seen be most successful are ones that start off long distant but end up living near each other later. Relationships that start with living close have a harder time making the transition to LD because a lot of the couple's dynamic is based on being able to be around each other.

A good relationship will work with two committed people with realistic expectations. There needs to be a lot of open communication to facilitate trust. Also, if your relationship withstands the test of distance, that's a good sign that the feelings are mutual and real.

1. What are your needs in a relationship?
2. Can your needs be met by someone who is far away?

The alternative could be remaining good friends (It leaves open possibilities for the future without hurting feelings).

Good luck! I love love
HealthRe: Brown Teeth by AmakaG29(f): 7:31am On Oct 14, 2011
Before the white strips, you need to locate the source.

Common sources of brown teeth are smoking, drinking coffee, and drinking tea. If you really want white teeth refrain from these things for a while. They stain the teeth and the effects can be long lasting. Along with white strips are whitening toothpastes. Drink more bottle/purified water, floss in between meals, and make sure your mouth wash has fluoride.

Both white vinegar and peroxide having whitening capabilities and could be used once every two weeks as a rinse, but beware high acid levels. You don't want to further damage the enamel.

There are usually safe online medical websites with information on such topics. Look for the websites that are well known or reputable.
HealthRe: How One Can Grow Tall by AmakaG29(f): 7:25am On Oct 14, 2011
The best way to grow tall is to have tall parents

These days people can have surgery for anything they want, so that's an option. Focus on being healthy. Bone growth and bone strength have a lot to do with height so make sure you have sufficient calcium and vitamin D. Also avoid smoking, coffee, and excessive alcohol. Eat your fruits and veggies for overall health! Be well smiley

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Let's Stop Importing 100% of Our Children's Cartoons by AmakaG29(f): 8:51pm On Oct 12, 2011
I think this is a wonderful idea to create a cultural medium of our own. I fully intend to produce children's books for my little ones when I get to that place of having little ones. I always loved reading and writing. I want to take time out to ensure that they get the values I have in mind for them. Some of these kids shows have questionable messages.

Dora the Explorer? No, I don't want my child wandering around Lagos with a monkey and no adult supervision!

HealthRe: What Can I Use To Clear Off Pimples On My Face by AmakaG29(f): 12:51am On Oct 11, 2011
Be mindful of all the things that touch your face: hands, cell phone (When's the last time you cleaned it), hair, hair products, harsh soaps, chemicals from creams and lotions, etc

Excessive sunlight and sweat can sometimes irritate bumps and cause further spreading

Also drink plenty of water to flush your system-2.5 liters per day (start with small goals if it seems like a lot)

Face scrubs really shouldn't be used everyday, maybe once or twice per week. Everyday regular face wash and light oil-free SPF moisturizer should do the trick. You must keep your face moisturized or you body will do it for you an produce excessive oil. Try to cut down on make-up which clogs pores. Use an astringent at night for a cleaner face.
RomanceRe: Whats The Best Way To Dump A Guy? by AmakaG29(f): 12:12am On Oct 11, 2011
Laughing at the responses,

OK, seriously just be nice but firm, Some men have hearing problems so you may have to repeat yourself. Also, don't let him guilt you into being in a relationship that you don't want to be in.

The worst thing you can do is be mean or arrogant. You never know when you may one day need his help or the help of someone who knows him. Preserve your reputation! If he asks questions be honest, but polite.
RomanceRe: Guys, Why Are Your Wallets So Thick? by AmakaG29(f): 12:04am On Oct 11, 2011
It balances them out so they don't fall forward because of their big heads

They keep puff puff in there for a midday snack

They are hiding all of Nigeria's wealth (that's why we can't find it)

The bigger the wallet, the harder they fall,
TravelRe: Beware Of Chachangi Airways: Their Plane Is A Molue With Wings by AmakaG29(f): 6:48pm On Oct 10, 2011
I appreciate the OP's share of experience. It is important to know different experiences with something like this so it can help inform future decisions about which company to choose. If business declines, it would be an incentive to increase safety and overall appeal. Maybe someone with authority will review the negative experiences and make necessary changes.

I'm a very nervous flyer so excessive jumbling and rumbling (even if it was safe) would cause me great distress.
FamilyRe: Maternal Relatives Vs Paternal Relatives by AmakaG29(f): 6:26pm On Oct 10, 2011
Maternal,

My father's family is not very close knit and involved in each others life. In my mom's family, if something goes right or wrong then many family members know and involve themselves.
Christianity EtcRe: Indecent Dressing In Churches Worries Nigerian Pastor by AmakaG29(f): 4:26pm On Oct 07, 2011
Church is about living a proper life in every way.

Indecent dress = Indecent thoughts = Indecent actions

By dressing in a vulgar, offensive matter it is a distraction and disrespectful to God's house. If it is all that you own, let someone know so she can help you find more appropriate attire. Outward appearance matters (why do you think people don't hold church at bars or clubs)!

Please respect yourselves and respect God.
