Some animals mate for life and others get in where they can fit in. At the root of it all is not love but survival and successful procreation.

She's pretty, but she needs a stylist or a best friend. Sometimes when people try too hard to be "different" or "unique" it turns out so wrong.

I'm very afraid of robbery because I'm not sure of how I would act in that situation. I hope I make the life-saving decision.
EducationRe: Books Vs Electronics? by AmakaG29(f): 8:23pm On Nov 07, 2011
I love books. There are especially useful for learning. I do have an e-reader and it's convenient, but I prefer actual books. There is some benefit of tactile processing.

RomanceRe: Why Do Girls Pull Down The Backside Of Their Tops When They See Me Coming? by AmakaG29(f): 8:21pm On Nov 07, 2011
All people are attentions seekers. You are on NL right now seeking the attention of fellow posters. Sometimes people get self-conscious when someone of the opposite sex approaches so they adjust their hair and clothing. It may be subconscious.

Don't worry about what they're doing as long as they aren't harassing you. You would notice if you weren't looking.
CelebritiesRe: Should Two Celebrities Do This? by AmakaG29(f): 8:08pm On Nov 07, 2011
Oh, let them enjoy each others' company. If you notice child stars often hold hands with a sibling when walking down the runway. Celebrities often have escorts down the runway even if it's a friend or coworker.

Probably blazer, jeans, and low heels with my hair in a bun.
FashionRe: Girls: Do You Really Need Makeup? by AmakaG29(f): 3:42pm On Nov 01, 2011
Make up is fun. It can enhance natural beauty or give disadvantaged girls an even playing field. If you rely on it or become dependent on it, then you'll start to find yourself less attractive. I prefer for a man to meet me with no make up so he has a realistic sense of what I look like.
TV/MoviesRe: What Has Nollywood Taught You? by AmakaG29(f): 3:32pm On Nov 01, 2011
I don't believe these things but this is what I've seen
1. Women are treacherous, heartless golddiggers who only can about clothing, fake hair, and make up. They will disrespect their parents, neglect their children and good husbands, and fight in the streets just to have sex with an unattractive man who stunts like he has money. Any good and pious women will be subjected to every sort of abuse, but she can pray the evil away.

2. Men are either unsuspecting cuckolds or heartless adulterers. They will have a wife and multiple girlfriends, but the girlfriends will take all their money. They will beat their wives and children. If they have been foreign educated, they will be worshiped by all who encounter them and the world will be theirs. They are also very easy to blackmail.

3. Stay away from black magic.

4. The glory is always to God.
FamilyRe: Why Do People Like To Have Male Child As First Born? by AmakaG29(f): 3:23pm On Nov 01, 2011
I would want a son primarily to please my husband. Most men want sons to fulfill some desire to see their names carried on. I understand and respect it. I know I want a daughter because of the special relationship I would have with her. It's not wrong as long as you love all of your children. I actually want both sexes so I can know the joys of both. Healthy children are the most important goal I have.
RomanceRe: Why Do Bad Girls Get Married Easier Than Good Girls? by AmakaG29(f): 3:18pm On Nov 01, 2011
"Bad girls" are more experienced with men, which means they know how to attract them, please them, and manipulate them. "Good girls" who don't have any experience are at a disadvantage. Some of them don't even know how to get noticed or talk to a man. If you wait around for a husband to show up then you'll be left with the left-over men. I don't advocate lewd and distasteful behavior, but the happiest women will have a good balance.

If they are really bad people, then their judgment will come. Their marriages may look good, but if they marry men who like loose women, then those men will soon stray. Would you really want a man that goes for women like that? Good women will be rewarded for their virtue as long as it is sincere.

Being covetous of other people's marriages is a sin. Feigning goodness, but having a wicked spirit is not fruitful. I wish everyone love and happiness in marriage.
CelebritiesRe: Dbanj- "my Mother Said I Should Go To Church To Find A Wife" by AmakaG29(f): 4:47am On Oct 30, 2011
You know, this is probably the first time I don't consider myself completely right. Fair assessment. I concede.
CelebritiesRe: Dbanj- "my Mother Said I Should Go To Church To Find A Wife" by AmakaG29(f): 10:07am On Oct 29, 2011
@ Lucabrasi: Ok, point well made, but no I don't assume EVERY person who speaks to me at church wants something (if that's the case I would probably change churches). Some men make very overt manifestations of interests outside of a discussion about the sermon. Guys who come across as sincerely wanting to be friends have never been met with anything but kindness and civility.

I do realize that people can meet and date in church. I'm the first one at the wedding eating the chicken. I simply don't agree with going to church to find someone other than God. If you happen to be there for God and meet like-minded people, that's wonderful. Of course dating in a church setting has its benefits and I wouldn't discourage it. Maybe I'm simply at a place spiritually where I don't need any distractions from my praise, worship, and spiritual development.

So the point is maybe D'Banj should go find God and let God help him in pursuits of love. A relationship with a solid foundation will meet longevity and success.

RomanceRe: Ever Had A Crush On Someone In Your Workplace? by AmakaG29(f): 9:35am On Oct 29, 2011
Yes, of course, but I don't pursue men and I don't mess with my money.

When I was younger, I had a part time job and whenever our supervisor wasn't around I would always find myself seeking him out and talking to him. We never exchanged numbers, but after he stopped working there I always wondered. . . . smiley
CrimeRe: Assault On Female Students Of St. Annes Secondary School Molete Ibadan. by AmakaG29(f): 9:24am On Oct 29, 2011
This is sad. Please be aware that men have a large stake in stopping sexual violence against women. So often we women are told to protect ourselves and stop dressing a certain way and stop going to certain places, but then even in the safe of our own beds we are not safe. I'd really like to challenge all NL'ers to take a more active role in mitigating sexual violence. It starts with teaching young men at an early age to respect women. I know this won't cure all the crazy people in the world, but it's a start.

RomanceRe: Why Do Women Love Adjectives? by AmakaG29(f): 9:16am On Oct 29, 2011
So here's my take: Many women have to affirm that they are smart or intelligent because people often assume that they are not. Histories of multiple societies are full of women being treated like they are less intelligent or being given inferior educations.

That being said. . . If you use smart and intelligent in the same sentence to describe yourself the two terms can be considered redundant so I assume you don't actually know what they mean and therefore are not either.

Example: One time while at a job fair with on-the-spot interviews the girl in front of me said "I'm hardworking, motivated, intelligent. . . that means smart right?" Yes, she asked her interviewer to define a word she used to describe herself.

I, personally, am not going to warn you ahead of time that I'm smart. Why lose my advantage?
FashionRe: Should Nigerian Women Be Forced To Go To Gym. by AmakaG29(f): 8:54am On Oct 29, 2011
No one should be forced to go anywhere, but encouraging a healthier lifestyle for all Nigerians never hurt anyone. It starts at an early age to develop healthy life practices. Societal norms frown upon women who sweat too much, mess up their hair, look too strong, don't have curves, and don't act "lady-like." The fears of being less womanly may keep some women away from the gym.

If women were forced to go to the gym, would we force men to cook or watch the children while we were there? Would husbands and boyfriends be forced to pay for it? Would those same husbands and boyfriends be jealous of the guys flirting with their women at the gym?

If you are with someone and you want her to be happier, healthier, and have more energy, then try to encourage a couples trip to the gym. I go on my own because working out feels good, but it can be hard without motivation from a friend. smiley
