FashionRe: Are Fake Designer Wears And Accessories Fashionable? by AmakaG29(op): 10:39am On Apr 20, 2012
I guess if you do "make it" then you can start buying real, pricey items. If you don't "make it" then maybe you always wear fake designers. I've seen some styles that look very realistic, but I'd rather wear things in my price range than trying to stunt.

Knuckles, knees, and elbows often get dark from bruising when people lean on them or apply pressure to them often. Be easy on the if you are damaging them by knocking hard on doors or if your job involves you hands.
RomanceRe: How To Overcome Insecurity In A Long-distance Relationship by AmakaG29(f): 4:29pm On Apr 19, 2012
Long distance relationships are hard, but we live in a world where they are more and more common. It's good that you speaking regularly, but make sure you are actually speaking with substance. Have meaningful conversations, laugh together, make sure that your goals are still aligned, talk about friends and family... Try to engage each other through skype, social media, watching the same movies, playing online games with each other, sending messages just because rather than a full conversation... Basically try to keep the relationship interesting and to keep learning about each other. Boredom and disinterest would be the relationship's undoing.

Also, prioritize seeing each other when possible. Nothing can substitute time spent together. You should both have a clear sense of the next time you'll be together so that it's something to look forward to and it doesn't seem to vague to be important. Mark your calendars and count down your days smiley

Fun ideas:
1. Skype dates: Getting dressed up to skype together, maybe even eating together while on skype depending on internet access

2. Movie time: Watching comedies or movies you both like so that there is something in common to talk about

3. Gaming: Playing words with friends, online checkers, or some other game that the two of you can play with each other: the better games are the ones where you can play your turn when it's convenient

4. Photo swapping: Sending pictures of basic everyday activities or when you visit new places so that your partner can be a part of your daily life

5. Not talking all the time: While this may seem counter intuitive, talking everyday can lead to boredom. Conversations can become stale. The anticipation can be exciting and you'll have more to talk about. If you combine this with photo swapping, on days you don't talk you can send pictures of your day.

6. Handwritten Love letters: While talking and expressing yourself is nice, love letters still have value. You can hold on to them, read them whenever you like, and express your deepest sentiments for the person. Write a love letter every once and a while, add a little of your fragrance and seal it with a kiss. He can write you some and add cologne.

7. Presents: Send a small item specific to your respective locations so that the other person has a piece of where you are.

RomanceRe: I Want To Sleep With My Wife's Cousin by AmakaG29(f): 5:46pm On Apr 16, 2012
Saying don't do it is not enough. You already know not to and the reasons why. You need spiritual and emotional support both from a trusted religious advisor and from your wife. These urges won't leave when she does. There will be another if you don't handle the real problem, which is your self control. She can no longer live in your house because both of you have dishonored your wife. The household is marred by the sinful actions and thoughts.

The remedy should include being honest with your wife, removing the cousin from the home, prayer, and counseling. Satisfying lust will in no way compare to the devastation and shame you will bring to your family.

Some girls are vain about money, some men are vain about looks

Barack Obama was broke as hell when Michelle married him, but she had her own. Also, he showed real promise. Maybe you don't look like promise...

Sharing future plans does not mean that everything is figured out. To me it shows the maturity to think ahead and prepare for the future. If some guy told me he didn't have any plans, I would dismiss him as unambitious and lazy.

I'll take security and maturity, thank you!

RomanceRe: Should I Travel To Meet Him? by AmakaG29(f): 2:55pm On Apr 13, 2012
Your decision is between you and your man. The advice to ask him about his expectations for the trip is spot on. Also, be sure not to hurt your finances or inconvenience yourself too much with this trip. He should be making it as easy for you as possible because he wants you there. I would go, because I love traveling and QT with the BF in a new place can be an eye opening experience.

Also, make your own connections with relatives or friends so that if something is not right or you two have a falling out you don't waste the trip or get stuck.

Plan properly, have a back-up plan in case something goes awry, and be safe smiley

Is Fake Fashion OK?

I had a friend come visit in NY and she wanted to go to Chinatown for some fake designer shades. We found the shades, but I'm just wondering: Can fake be fashionable? Is there a stigma attached to wearing knock-off shades, bags, and watches?

Would you fake it until you made it?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, sir women have an array of uncomfortable death traps in fashion. From deadly stilettos, chaffing bra straps, to circulating cutting pantyhose... you may not do a comparison. Not to mention waxing, plucking, scraping dead skin, tying our hair in tight braids and weaves...No sir you may not go there! lipsrsealed
EducationRe: School Project Help by AmakaG29(f): 4:59pm On Apr 12, 2012
This sounds really cool. Instead of long lectures short, well-organized videos coupled with comprehension quizzes and short essay assignments may be one option. I used to use online quizzes to study for exams. It was especially helpful for geography, math, and languages.

Visual and audio stimulation in the form of images, videos, and music can really be effective. If you couple those things with a way for the person to show what they have learned and participate, then it could prove to be very effective.

Group learning also has it's merits. What if there were a way for the participants to communicate with each other through a forum or chat room? These are just my musings. I used to teach.

RomanceRe: How To Get Over A Broken Heart by AmakaG29(f): 9:05pm On Apr 11, 2012
There's no such thing as closure. You can express yourself and feelings, but don't expect any apologies or reconciliation on the other side.

Moving on, cutting contact, and not trying to be friends is a solid idea.

Invest energy into other relationships like being a better friend or family member. Being around people who love you can be a great way to forget those who don't.

Find your happy in other things. The best "revenge" is doing well without that person.

RomanceRe: why are ladies cool wearin bikini in public, but cant wear pant & bra in public by AmakaG29(f): 8:43pm On Apr 11, 2012
Lol, you guys are silly. The point is the propriety of the attire in the social setting. At a beach everyone is exposed, but many well wrap towels around themselves or be covered by the water. In a house, there is still a respectability to be maintained. Bras and panties are intimate and not meant to be seen by strangers. There is a sexuality attached. Bikinis are made to be see (bright flashy colors). To be honest, I get a little shy in bikinis.
RomanceRe: I'm 28 Desperate To Settle Down. by AmakaG29(f): 8:40pm On Apr 11, 2012
Don't you have goals for yourself? I believe in marriage and I know the pressure you are feeling is palpable, but men can sense desperation and it's a turn off. If you focus on being the best you for yourself, the husband will come. Focus on being well read, well dressed, and well traveled...really anything that makes a happier and better you. People who take care of themselves and are genuinely happy attract others are them. Focus also on building strong friendships and family ties. Creating good relationships with others will make you better at navigating romantic relationships. You never know who may know just the right person for you.

From a practical stand point, putting yourself in situations to meet quality, serious minded men without hunting for them could be fruitful. It won't be the club, but it may be the library, cafe, or friend's wedding. A smile and pleasant conversation goes a long way (even with a nice older woman who has a son.)

You have a whole life ahead of you to be married, have children, and be tied down. Why not explore the freedom you have while you have it?

When men become too overbearing and controlling i.e. calling all day, texting all day, and interrupting my work

The sneakiness that comes before actual cheating e.g. mysterious texts and calls from random "friends" I've never heard of

Lack of ambition: If you are not going anywhere then move out of my way

Unsanitary habits... no need to explain
Nairaland GeneralRe: 991 by AmakaG29(f): 3:22pm On Apr 11, 2012
We've been taught not to talk to strangers. The world has become a dangerous and scary place. I have to admit I tend to ignore men because when I am responsive they think I am interested in them. Most of the time when men speak to me in the streets there is a sexual agenda, which embarrasses and frightens me. I try my best to gauge the person's intentions from body language and manner of approach. Now that you bring it up, I'll make an honest effort to be more polite. All I ask is that in the same vein men stop harassing me in the streets. smiley
