ANTHONY JOSHUA’s heavyweight world title defence against Jarrell Miller could be in jeopardy after the American challenger reportedly tested positive for banned substances.

The bout is a defence of Joshua's WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world heavyweight titles.

Dan Rafael of ESPN claims, citing sources, that the tests were conducted on March 20 by VADA [Voluntary Anti Doping Agency].

Rafael posted: “Heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller has tested positive for the banned substance GW1516 ahead his scheduled challenge of unified world titleholder Anthony Joshua, three sources with knowledge of the results told ESPN on Tuesday night.

“The fight is due to take place on June 1 at New York’s Madison Square Garden and serve as Joshua’s American debut.

“The results, which came to light on Tuesday, were from a random Voluntary Anti-Doping Association-conducted urine test Miller submitted to on March 20.”

Miller and Joshua are yet to comment.

Miller had previously accused Joshua of using performance enhancing drugs during the press tour for their fight.

Now, he himself has allegedly tested positive for a fat burner.

G1516 - also known as Endurobol - is a fat burner and is intended to boost athlete endurance, and prompted an official health warning from WADA in 2013, due to it being so powerful.

Speaking at the announcement press conference for their fight, Miller called out Joshua and alleged that he had used banned substances in his past, despite the Brit having passed every doping test taken.

“We can see it, you can look at him and say this dude (Joshua) is on steroids,” Miller said.

“Anybody who comes out of the amateurs at 220-something pounds and a year later he’s 240-something – there’s something wrong with that picture.

“If they’re training every day and your athlete is training for multiple fights there is no way you’re going to put on twenty-something pounds of muscle in a year without taking some kind of supplements – what I’m trying to say is it’s impossible.”

Should the fight be postponed or cancelled, it will not be the first time the heavyweight champion has faced a late disruption to his camp.

It is possible that Matchroom Sport - Joshua’s promotional team - will have a replacement lined up.

Last year, when preparing to face Kubrat Pulev, the Bulgarian was forced to withdraw with just 12 days to go after suffering a shoulder injury.

Instead of postponing the fight, Joshua instead faced Carlos Takam, who had been drafted in as a replacement.

The heavyweight champ knocked out Takam in the tenth round.

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, confirmed that there was an adverse finding in the test.
