Look at No. 6 on the list. The federal road is already ongoing and has reached about 30% which represents most section of it in Anambra and Imo.jmichlins: it's a Federal road and no work about it 1) The ongoing rehabilitation of Owerri-Umuhia road sections I, II and III. 2) The ongoing construction of Arochukwu-Ohafia-Abiriba road project. 3) The ongoing construction of the Ohafia-Oso road project. 4) Construction of Ikot-Ekpene border-Aba-Owerri dualization. Section 1 phase 1 currently at 22% completion. 5) Ongoing Construction of Mbaise-Ngwa Road phase 1 and 2 currently at 11% completion. 6) Ongoing Construction of Oba-Nnewi-Okigwe Road section 2. Currently at 30% completion.7) Ongoing construction work on the Rehabilitation of Enugu-PH Dual Carriageway Section II. Drivers and motorists are taking undue advantage of good road networks across Anambra. It is only a speeding driver that could cause this sort thing, I could be wrong though but it was my first observation on the incidence. Almost all the roads connecting every community in the state are well paved and marked, the only we are saying is for the motorists to drive with caution. There is no need to over-speed because you have seen a good road.

jmichlins: where do you have that's not a Federal road. Nnewi - okigwe road also is a dead trap. Stop supporting mediocrity Maybe this among others is also a federal road. Be guided before you make comment. Nnewi-Okigwe is a federal road and I notice some serious work ongoing on that road. Peace and rest in peace to the dead.

BigIyanga: You clearly dont have an idea how aviation industry works. Major airline carriers also major cargo operators. So are u going to force them to fly into Umuleri for cargo alone? MMA controls over 90% of cargo movement in Naija because most airlines operate from there.
FG still maintains exclusive over airline operation in the country. State governors cannot force NCAA and airlines to start landing at their airport. Case in point, Owerri and Asaba all under utilized. You don't seems to get it. Anambra has great number of importers and exporters so cargo will be common occurrence here than it is in other less economically viable states as you mentioned. You do cargo business where there is one. You can name Osun airport cargo but if people there are not businessmen that are in cargo dealings like importing and exporting it cannot work. You need to understand the peculiarities and absolute advantages of Anambra airport over others you mentioned. |

BigIyanga: Petroleum produced are shipped with vessel via ocean.. NNPC,IOCs and LNG are use ships for moving products. pls stop making excuses for wayo or incompetence. $2bn could have been better spent on making Anambra an oil producing state.. Our leaders are too shortsighted It is clear you do not have any prior information on the said airport. Use google to understand more about the airport and it's facilities. Anambra is already an oil producing state though not yet receiving it's allocation. The airport will equally serve as a refuelling airport for commercial sale of ATK to local and international flights. Does it make sense to you? |

Ofodirinwa: How can an airport die? Think about what you're saying. Have you seen a bus station die? An airport is a place to land planes, not a business. If it's being mismanaged that's different but it's a strip of land for landing planes and the will and facilities to coordinate their landing and taking off. You're overthinking something incredibly simple.
Also, why would I land in Asaba when I live in Anambra? Zoo mentality. An airport is a place to land planes. What if you were on a bus to Anambra from Lagos and they finish at Asaba because Anambra is not viable?
Also, there are four airports in Houston and more in surrounding areas (Greater Houston), there are over twelve in Atlanta. The guy is a pure case of sadist. This is shocking that some people can spend so much time on project that does not concern them. |

BigIyanga: Naija and fancy words! Show me where one has been built in Naija before. How and you use $2bn build a cargo airport when the state gdp is about $7bn?This company has no record of building and managing airport infracture in the world, so can they do it without exprience?? So because it has not been built anywhere in Nigeria that means it cannot be built? These people are chained. Meanwhile here is the company that is constructing the airport. http://www.avic-apc.com/a/64/

Ofodirinwa: Airports in Atlanta Commercial Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) Atlanta
Covington Municipal Airport (9A1) Covington DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK) Chamblee Fulton County Airport / Charlie Brown Field (FTY) [West] Atlanta Cobb County Airport / McCollum Field (RYY) Kennesaw Gwinnett County Airport / Briscoe Field (LZU) Lawrenceville Cartersville Airport (VPC) Cartersville Newnan-Coweta County Airport (CCO) Newnan Cherokee County Airport (CNI, former 47A) Canton / Ball Ground Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport (PUJ) Dallas Atlanta South Regional Airport (4A7) Hampton (former Henry County Airport / Morris Field) Atlanta Regional Airport / Falcon Field (FFC) Peachtree City
Consider this, what percentage of people in Georgia to long distance travel on a regular basis? Compare that to the percentage of people in Atlanta or even Georgia that do the same? The way an Anambran flies is to the same as an American, even with that being said, Atlanta as a city has more airports than the (zoo) country of Nigeria The multi billion dollar project is for the development, under a Build, Operate, Manage & Transfer (BOMT) arrangement of an Airport City (Aerotropolis). The airport will be an International Cargo Airport and will have an aviation fuel dump where aircrafts will fly in to refuel.
Other airport city projects include but not limited to two runways, Passenger and VIP Terminal, Taxiways and Aprons, Fire Station, Control Building and Towers, Aviation Fuel dump and dispensing facilities, airport cargo sheds, aircraft maintenance hanger, five star airport hotel and conference center, aviation training and services buildings, airport multilevel car parks, airport recreational areas, international mega shopping mall, luxury retail shopping, China wholesale depots, emergency service centers, industrial business park.
The project will create a whole new world of economic opportunities for the South-East, and will unleash the untapped potential of increased trade and commercials , manufacturing, innovation, technology transfer, SME growth and IGR revenue explosion to Anambra State.
Below are the eight important facts about this project
1. This Airport City will be an integrated city comprising of Two Runways, A shopping Mall, Industrial and Business parks and Airport Hotels. 2. The Airport when completed will create 1200 direct jobs with 70 % of the jobs reserved for Ndi Anambra. 3. 3% of the profit made in the Airport will be reserved for host (Umueri) community 4. The Airport will be sited on 1500 hectares of land with room for expansion. 5. The cost of developing the Airport will be in the region of 2 billion dollars. 6. The Anambra International Cargo Airport will be constructed under Build Operate Manage and Transfer (BOMT ) 7. The Partners for this project are Anambra State government Orient Petroleum Elite International Investment Holding and Chinese Aviation company 8. The project will be ready in three years. |
