Governor Willie Obiano has stressed the need for increased federal presence in the South-East geo-political zone to give Ndigbo a sense of belonging in the country’s governance. He spoke at the Governors Lodge Amawbia, when he received the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, who visited him. The Minister who was in the state to inspect ongoing Federal Government projects has been on a tour of the five South-Eastern States since mid-last week. Speaking after a closed door meeting with the Minister, Governor Obiano who noted that the Southeast geo-political zone, is marginalized in Federal Government’s infrastructure, said the development has resulted in the people's loss of confidence in the ability of the government at the center. The Governor, however expressed delight that the Federal government is responding to the Housing needs of the State citizenry and is presently clearing the parcel of land his administration provided at Isiagu in Awka South Local Government Area for the construction of Housing units and assured that the State government will consider constructing the road leading to the Housing Project. He also thanked the Federal Government for including the Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway in the contract subsisting from Enugu to Awka and urged the Federal government to expedite the processes of reimbursing the state the forty-three billion naira it spent in reconstructing Federal roads across the state to enable his administration tackle the numerous road projects currently ongoing across the state. In his remarks, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Fashola commended the Obiano administration for its intervention on failed Federal Roads, adding that the Federal government is mindful of its debt and is presently working out modalities for the reimbursement. Mr Fashola emphasized that the Federal Government is not in competition with any state administration and is committed to supporting the states realize their lofty developmental objectives, stressing the need for the state to work closely with the Federal Controllers in their various States, towards the successful completion of Federal government's projects. Some controllers of the Ministry in the State, who also spoke after the meeting extolled Governor Obiano, for being willing and prompt in meeting the state's obligation for the commencement of Federal projects in the state. The Department of Petroleum Resources has given approval for re-entry into the Gas Reserve at Umuerum in Ayamelum Council Area. Governor Willie Obiano revealed this when he attended a function of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha at St Mary's Parish, Umuerum. Governor Obiano who noted that Umuerum is blessed with one of the largest Gas Deposit in the Country, recalled how a multi-national Oil Company, Shell had discovered the Mineral resource 40 years ago and capped it because they were after Premium Motor Spirit, PMS. He said what is delaying the full exploration of the Gas Reserve is ongoing negotiations with a South African Investor who is to take over the project and expressed the hope that when operational, the project will create lots of jobs and wealth opportunities for people of Ayamelum area. Governor Obiano observed that due to the large expanse of virgin arable land which the Ayamelum possesses, the area holds great prospects for the future of the state which is being repositioned to anchor on Agriculture, assuring that his government will sustain its support to farmers in the area towards the achievement of its agricultural revolution initiative. City FM OAP marries University sweetheart in Anambra Wilfred Mong who is also known as ‘DsilentG’ married Uchenna in a ceremony held in Anambra earlier in November 2016. The sports presenter who is with Lagos-based radio station, City Fm, had the wedding at t St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Anambra State. The couple's love story is one that lights up the face with a beautiful smile - Wilfred had fallen in love with since he set eyes on Uchenna in her first year in the University in year 2012. And what drew his attention? Uchenna's dimples! Isn't that just so totally adorable? In 2015, three years down the line, and Wilfred was getting on a bent knee, asking Uchenna to spend the rest of her life with him, and sure enough, she signed up for a lifetime with him! They have now sealed the union in their recent wedding ceremony and we have nothing but all the best wishes for the couple.
