In fact, I was looking at a listing (although an incomplete listing) of the Kings of Kush and interestingly I found the name of the first king of Kush to be Alara.

That seems to me be suspiciously the same as the name [b]Alárá[b] often repeatedly mentioned (in Yoruba people's folklores) as the first ruler of an unspecified dynasty.

Cos I recently read a work by the great historian and anthropologist Cheikh Anta Diop viz. "The African Origin of Civilization" wherein he cited Pédrals' reference to Morié that Shango once ruled the Nubians, the Kush kingdom to be precise.

This testimony by Morié is said by Pédrals to have been found in a Coptic text translated from the Arabic and published (actually outside of Africa) in Paris, France, in the year 1666.

Cheikh Anta Diop's reference to Pédrals on the subject is as follows:

"As Morié puts it, this Obba-Kouso was born at Ife, a locality which our author is completely unacquainted."

It interestingly continues to state that:

"Chango-Obba-Kouso's brothers are Dada, god of nature, and Ogoun, god of hunters and black smiths. He has three wives: Oya, Osoun, and Oba."

It further continues to call him as:

"King of Kush"

[Pédrals, pp. 30-31]

It is important to mention that Cheikh Anta Diop, just as Pédrals, emphasized that Morié himself has absolutely no idea where Ife (the city whose name he takes from the Coptic text) is.

Also, the parallel between the two titles:

"Obba-Kouso" and "King of Kush" is amazingly very striking.

Indeed, the Yorubas obviously have this phrase "King of Kush" among their epithets of Shango for centuries without even realizing it, yet speculating different hypothetical meanings for it. Thanks to the ancient Arabic text of the Copts.

Slavery in Africa is a relatively recent thing. The transatlantic slave trade is less than 500 years ago, while the Arabian Sahara slave trade is less than 1500 years ago. When we talk about African civilization, we are talking about events of more than 6000 years old.
African civilization was not as powerful as it once was when the Arabs and Europeans came in contact with us for the slave trade.
Okey lets take the 1st Italian Ethiopian war for instance. Though Ethiopia wan the war, but they fought with over a hundred thousand solders as against the Italians that fought with just few tens of thousands. Sorry sir but it's not slavery that brought African civilizations down, it was conquest. Old Egyptian kingdom got conquered by Babylon which was in turn conquered by the Persians. They were conquered by the Europeans, Greeks and Romans. Later on the Persians got back up and fought the eastern arm of the Roman empire to a stand still. The two empires were so exhausted from the constant wars that when the rag tag Mohammedan Arabs came they easily conquered Persia and some of Europe. Then the Mongols too came along conquering same as the Turks.
The truth is that the history of civilization is a history of conquest. When the Europeans came to Africa, they came with superior technology, which shows that their civilization had outgrown ours over the years. Though there were few skirmishes and wars between us and them, they won because they had guns and we don't. Slavery was the result of the victory tbey gained over us.
Besides we credit the Europeans with the invention of guns but it was actually the Chinese that invented gun powder first, as far back as 1000bc. Do you know that Africa already had papyrus, a kind of paper made from the reeds of the red sea and Nile thousands of years before before Europeans. The Chinese already had rice paper before Europeans.
The truth is if any civilization stays static, it gets outdated soon enough by more advancing and aggressive ones. African civilizations lost to others because we remained old and didn't advance not because of slavery. We should stop blaming slavery for our backwardness.

The Sumerian civilization predates the flood, most believe that the book of genesis was actually adapted from Sumerian documentation.
The cuneiform Sumerian texts u quoted has been dated to about 22000 b.c , even the Egyptian civilization predates the flood as evidenced by the water weathering on the sphinx in Giza demonstrating clearly that it was there during the flood, when it was exposed to heavy rain.
Gobeklii tepe, estimated to be a pre-flood monument has reliefs of extinct pre-flood caving on stones.

See I'm an African and my sympathy will definitely want to sway to that but facts remained facts. Now civilization is different from human ancestry or where human developed from. It is different from earliest settlements. Though civilization does grow out of settlement but before a settlement can be called a civilization several things must be there. One food, building of monument and cities, having a civil governance with a standing army or military force. Now with these in mind, civilization started in three parts of the world almost at the same time between 3500 bc to 2500 bc. These places are the Indus River basin area, the Nile Valley and the fertile crescent of the euphrates and Tigris. Among these three, Euphrates is the oldest around 3200bc,while that of Egypt was around 3100bc. That of the Indus River was further down 2500 bc. There were other civilization that grew independently from these like the Aztecs and Mayans but they were much later. All other civilizations came from these.
The sumerians led to the babylonians, Akkadians assyrians, Persians. While the Egyptians lead to that of Sudan or vise versa, nothing is so sure at these point.

It is proven that the earliest form of civilization is found in sumar. Civilization is different from settlement. The earliest form of writing is the cuneiform used on clay tablets and it is from the sumarians. Egyptian hieroglyphics is a more advanced form of it. The sumer civilizations predated the 1st Babylonia, Akkadian, the Hittites etc. The oldest form of writing is the cuneiform. Research it.

I WAS referring to Wole Soyinka. I'll do my own research to try and confirm whether or not he's the first black person to win the Nobel Prize in Literature - or in absolutely any field, as I initially thought. But, be that as it may, my allegation still stands. And your excuse does not.

Wole Soyinka is in no way near being young, he's almost ninety years old - eighty-five, as of this year; if Wikipedia is to be believed. And that not one of you all could think to mention EVEN ONCE a Nobel Laureate (THE FIRST BLACK NOBEL LAUREATE - even if only in Literature) as one of those black men that have influenced you the most, makes me have to re-state my allegation.
