odumchi: In Arochukwu, we have three types of Eze.It shall be well with you. This is interesting. |
Christianity and Igbo culture are fused into one. Most ceremonies done in Igboland today involves the church. Christianity has erased the bad aspects of Igbo culture. In this photograph is a priest performing his priestly role. We are Igbo people and we are christians.

afam4eva: The government should consider multi-ethnic states like Rivers and Delta.Ogbomosho or Oyo town can be the capital. Ibadan state capital can be located at Moniya. There is so much land there for development. The two states from the south east should be no1: Njaba-the biggest with 12 LGA's from Imo state and Ihiala in Anambra state. No 2: Enyimba or Aba state with 9 LGA's. |
godello: At least the dreams of MATHEW MBU may come true! OGOJA STATE, For south-south.From the south south, the only state that requires urgent attension is Anioma state. What the Ogoja people need is boundary adjustment. The Efiks in Cross river state should be merged with their Ibibio kins in Akwa Ibom. With this arrangement, Cross River will be a non Efik state. |
@the op, you may learn more from here. https://www.nairaland.com/497532/kola-nut-ritual-igboland/1 |
coogar: eden hazard wants chelsea's no 10 position. playing just behind theThanks. |
Abagworo: To add Andre each of those titles of Obi, Nze-obi,Eze-Igwe, Igwe or Eze have a unique feature. For example most Obi's are strictly by inheritance from the 1st son of the deceased king.@Abagworo. thanks for your contribution. Nze-Obi and Eze-Igwe, are they titles for traditional rulers or just chiefs, king makers and members of the cabinet?. In my own Isinweke community, Nzes are ward leaders. It's true, some Obiship positions are hereditary e.g Agbor. It seems some Ezeship positions are hereditary as well.It seems that Orlu, Owerri and Nnewi are hereditary. The ruling families has been on the throne for 100 years now or thereabout. I would like more Igbo guys to come in here and share some ideas. |
alj harem: would like to see abia divided into two, Ngwa state and Aro stateIn Imo state, Mbaise people are not clamouring for a state. In Abia state, Aro people are not also asking for a state. |
PhysicsQED: I think obasi is Ibibio, not a variant of obasa.Abasi is Ibibio while Obasi is Igbo. They mean the same thing-God. |
ak47mann: that is possible but remember they have to create states that can sustain herself as-wellIbadan state has got everything it takes to be a state. Almost what sustains the present Oyo state are bound in Ibadan region. Cocoa research institute, IITA, Unibadan and Poly Ibadan. Nigerian Breweries LTD. Exide batteries. Autoglass. A population of more than 3 million etc. |
bittyend: You guys are liars!!The problem with you is either your inability to travel outside the south west or inability to mix up with people who are only from the south west. Any well-informed Nigeria knows that Olisa is an Igbo name. Other versions are Oliseh, Olizeh-they all mean God. Even my Ghanian friends here in the U.K got to know the appointment of this Igboman before me. If Ghanians can know that Olisa is an Igboman, how much more fellow Nigerians. Strange. |
From the South west, I think Ibadan state is ripe enough for creation. |
1025: everybody wants to play in chelea now. we are the talk of the world now.True. |
Eden Hazard wants the Chelsea no 10 shirt, but as you all know, it is been worn by Juan Mata. What will happen. Secondly, Drogba's no 11 shirt is vacant, who gets it?. |
Upon coronation, the Eze is issued a certificate from the govt to make the Ezeship official.
|
dubem3: Oge'm fulu ihe idere, odi'm ka'm bia makuo gi Maka na ikwuru uche'm.Onye nwe anyi nonyere gi. |
PhysicsQED: Interesting. Very colorful. Thanks Physics. Those hidden posts shows that the owners of this forum are at work. Some people want this thread to be a flop but the adm and co are wise. Do you notice similarities between Nri (Igbo) and Bini cultures here?. |
There is no Igbo ceremony without the blessing and blessing of kolanuts or even garden egggs.
|
What you are seeing here is a unique feature in Igbo ceremonies. Enjoy.

Omasiridi-Husband's delight. Ugodi-Husbsands pride. Ogbedi-Husband's protector Oyiridi-Husband's look alike Uredi-Husband's gallery. There are so many of this names in my Igbo area. The women who bear this names were not born with it. They swithed to this nmes upon marriage. |

As I earlier mentioned, there is always a meaning to what garments and other fittings worn by NDIGBO. THE RED CAPS OR CROWS- Struggles of the father or the Igbomen to cater for the families and the community. The eagle white feather (abuba ugo). The neck bead, the hand bead cow tail hand fan. To be discussed when Nairaland Ndigbo come back from work.
|
Everything here in Igbo culture has a meaning, so also, the garments worn by His Royal Highness and chiefs. You can name them.
|
Masquerades are always present in king making.
|
In my Isinweke community, in the event of death of an Eze, no replacement is made until after one year. Only coronated persons and especially the cabinet chiefs are allowed to carryout such burials. Chiefs are also accorded such respects. |
NRI PRIEST: Where is this king from? Very rich culture. Looks like Anambra group.you are right. |
