@the poster, your emphasis is only on the Yoruba recaptives. History tells us that not only yoruba groups were resettled in Lagos. Make it general please.

CultureRe: Drop Your Suggestions For Improving The Culture Section by AndreUweh(m): 11:58am On Jul 12, 2012
afam4eva: You're spot on.

This section has been abandoned by the Nairaland government and this marginalization must stop because we're the ones that produce bulk of the languages that people speak, so we can't be marginalized. Is it until we go up in arms before they'll hear our cries?
Well said Afam, take a look at nairaland front page, there are up to 50 threads there and none is from the culture section. Even that thread on Nsibidi in culture section is more informative than 90 percent of threads in that front page. All the nairaland mods has something to explain about this negligence.
CultureRe: Drop Your Suggestions For Improving The Culture Section by AndreUweh(m): 8:14pm On Jul 11, 2012
The major thing to improve upon is the readership attendance in the culture section. How do you go to the front page and see up to 25 topics yet not even one is from the culture section. If the supermods and adm do not visit the culture section, then the mods in this section has to draw their attention. Most threads created at the culture section is more educative than half of what you see in the front pages of nairaland.
Most of us who post here are not encouraged to do so.

Och77: I still remain confused and don't know why at the olympics England, Scotland, Ireland and the rest come together and compete as Team GB but at the world cups they do it individually.
The F.A in England, Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland were formed before FIFA and has remained independent till date. At the olympics they do not take part in the football event, but in Lonon 2012, FIFA forced them to participate because it is a priviledge giving to host nations. In 2016, there will not be team GB in the football event.
CultureRe: Culture Section Is A Disgrace by AndreUweh(m): 10:48am On Jul 10, 2012
Beauty this and that should go to celebrity or general sections.
Moreover, the cultural section is the most neglected section by the super moderators. hardly do they visit the culture section nor post threads from this section to the front page.

chelseabmw: Chelsea have had offer in excess of €20 million for Germany winger Andre Schurrle rejected by Bayer Leverkusen.

-  On the move: Transfer blog
- Di Matteo backs 'fantastic' Torres
- Lampard dismisses MLS link

The Blues first showed interest in Schurrle last season but renewed their pursuit after a bid to sign Wigan Athletic's Victor Moses hit the skids last month.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen to bolster the attacking options of his side and Schurrle, who played in Germany's 4-2 win over Greece at Euro 2012, is able to play out wide or up front.

However, the Werkself have decided to keep hold of their 21-year-old attacker, rather than cash in on a young player who scored nine goals last term.

"We were presented with a very concrete offer from Chelsea for Andre of beyond the €20 million mark. The sum was pushed back and forth between the two clubs, but we eventually opted to hold on to Andre," Bayer Leverkusen CEO Wolfgang Holzhauser is quoted as saying by German news agency SID.

"Andre is very valuable for us on the pitch. He has also made it very clear that he is happy to stay with us."

Chelsea have already bolstered their attacking options with the capture of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, but the bid for Schurrle shows they still have money to strengthen.

Source: Espn Soccernet
What a silly bid from Chelsea if at all they made any bid. Having just acquired Marin from Germany, what on earth do we need Schurle for. We have Sturidge, Malouda, Marin , Hazard and Mata who all play from the wings.Chelsea does not need him for now. What Chelsea needs now is a supporting striker either Jovotic or Hulk. One central midfielder with physical prowess e.g Fellaini from Everton and a right full back-Maicon/Perrreira or draft Ivanovic permanently to that position.

CultureRe: Why Don't The People Of Onelga In Rivers State Sell Land to Igbos? by AndreUweh(m): 10:05am On Jul 05, 2012
ChinenyeN: You really have no idea. Omonuan, as far as my actual opinion is concerned, you Anioma are more Igbo than I, but that is beyond the scope of this discussion. I'll admit that I do understand where you people coming from. You feel hurt by your [mis]interpretation of my statement. You perceive it as insensitive, and you believe I owe Anioma an apology. I on the other hand, see your reaction as overly sensitive and unnecessary. To me, you all seem to care more about taking offense, than anything else. It's as if we might as well just forget about having a straight discussion, since taking offense takes precedence over comprehension.

My point still stands. One Naira had no reason to be surprised at his family owning supposedly "restricted" lands since they come from Delta and that definitively makes them not Igbo, as opposed to someone who comes from Imo or Enugu who carry Igbo/Biafra war stigma. Simple, now carry on.

Anyway, I'm done here. Monyem adii iri la hnwe Anioma. Ma ra we akwuu.
Can you stop this idiotic attitude of labelling someone more Igbo than the other. As far as Ndigbo are concerned, no one is more Igbo than another. Boy, admit it.
A lot has happened to Ndigbo before the war.During the war and immediately after the war. But in this millenium, Ndigbo are one and moving ahead as one. If some people in the past has wrongly termed the south east as only Igbo, now, it is your job to correct them. The Igbo in Rivers and Delta are not more Igbo than any south-easterner and vice versa.
My warning to you is to desist from labelling a certain people of Igboland as Igbo and others as not Igbo. Second, do not claim that one certain Igbo group is more Igbo than another. It is just daft.
CultureRe: Why Don't The People Of Onelga In Rivers State Sell Land to Igbos? by AndreUweh(m): 12:01am On Jul 05, 2012
omonuan: Chinenye, saying that Delta Igbo is "technically not Igbo" is the most absurd and despicable thing to say to an Anioma man. This assertion is what irk some some Anioma people into de-emphazing their Igboness. You are no more Igbo than me who is from Delta. Mind you, there is no accreditation board for who is "technically Igbo." You owe Delta Igbo an apology! Being technically Igbo is purely subjective.
Biko, do not be offended by the foolishness of one man here. He has not got the backing of any person over his utterance. We are one and we are one love family.

@Ezeagu, in addition to what Ify has said above, the histories of our people before this century were just political histories. Historians were only interested in writing about kings and leaders and neglected the social and cultural aspects of our beautiful ways of life.

The status of the Igbo women now is all inclusive and tolerant to those who were not originally Igbo. What prevails now is the Igbo culture which the new arrivals have adopted. This makes them Igbo as well. What do you think?.

CultureRe: Why Don't The People Of Onelga In Rivers State Sell Land to Igbos? by AndreUweh(m): 4:46pm On Jul 03, 2012
ChinenyeN: Don't play dumb. It's not a difficult concept to grasp, and it's certainly not an insult. You're Delta state, so you're technically not Igbo. Someone else like me for example, who by design is Abia state, is technically Igbo. That's simply the way things are. So it shouldn't come as such a surprise to you that your family apparently has land in places where Igbo supposedly "can't".
You again. I thought you have stopped all this your useless assertions. Oh my God, what has made you to go back to those your days of retarded posts?.
Did you sleep well last night, or what part of your body is in pains?
Above all, why are you insulting one naira and his fellow proud deltans of Igbo origin?.
Don't go there.
