timbros:You're trying to be clever but the jacket isn't fitting you well. The point of the statement is the person who finished the chance is irrelevant just like the person who gave the assist is a non-factor to the actual point. It is not an achievement. It could've been Rico Lewis. Rodri's achievement isn't that he scored in the UCL final - no. It was that City won the UCL and he was impactful. LOL That's why even after Palmer left that season, City still won the league. Follow the conversation. You've tried to change it multiple times. |
timbros:You're still missing the point by a smidgen. I didn't say all assists are as important as all goals. I'm only responsible for what I've typed not what you understand. I said THAT particular assist was as important as that goal. Just like Jackson's goal against Betis. In other words, it is not an achievement for Palmer just like you guys said it wasn't an achievement for Jackson. Think. Think. Think. |
timbros:What's your point? Pedri was playing for Las Palmas. Are you people incapable of layered thinking? Rhetorical question, I know the answer. I'm not dissing the teams they were playing for. Anybody can be signed from any team. The point again is the MENTALITY. Raphinha isn't in Barca to finish midtable which would've been an achievement for Leeds. He is in Barca to win league titles, UCLs. That's why he rejected your team to go to Barcelona. He didn't want to be the best player in a team that finishes 4th and celebrates it. |
Gucciboy:Who said it didn't count? It counted for Brentford and United (another team with midtable aspirations) that's why they want to get him. But will BdO voters consider him since he was playing with inferior players? Why didn't Liverpool, City and Arsenal feel, if we put him around better players than he had at Brentford we will win the league? Think about it. |
timbros:Of course, you've missed the point. I'm starting to think this is a CFC thing. The statement means someone else did an equally important job. Rodri gave a superb pass in the Super Cup, Palmer finished it. So why is Palmer scoring the achievement? That was my poser to air...head. In other words, if Palmer wasn't there, someone else would've finished the chance. Mahrez scored 24 goals in 21-22 season yet KdB made the podium for BdO and Mahrez didn't. It seems BdO didn't rate the 24 goals like that. |
Gucciboy:Just read what you're typing. If Mbuemo was as good as Lamine, he won't be heading to United. Liverpool, City, Arsenal would have wanted the player. Trust me, clubs aren't blind. Cunha was making the difference for Wolves. Mbuemo was making the difference for Brentford. They are good players. What's common amongst them? Avoiding relegation or midtable finish is their achievement. The better players won't want that. Winning the league, UCL, POTY - that will be their focus. That's what I'm saying about Palmer. Think about it. |
Gucciboy:Your arguments will work for another conversation entirely. Of course, the role of the manager is important. But you're not telling me anything new. The manager helps the player and the player helps the manager. Just forget Flick for now. If your ownership felt there's some unmaximized latent talent in the squad, they'd fire Maresca and hire that manager who will unlock the potential of the team. Think about it. You won't be celebrating 4th and Conference league. I called Foden's 10 goals 4 assists season a complete failure even though his team finished higher your team. I have higher standards. Accept it. |
Gucciboy:You're still talking about 9 goals. Even when you were told a player can be impactful without scoring the most goals. Is Flicks Barca the same without Lamine? |
Gucciboy:What about Ferran Torres? What will he do playing for CFC? |
Gucciboy:Read your post very well. I think you made an error although I think I understand what you're trying to say. So let's analyze it. Before Raphinha left for Barca, your club, Arsenal and Barcelona wanted him right? Think of it critically. One can assume Neto was at the same level in your club's mind when you purchased him some seasons later. I'm judging based on how much you paid for Neto vs what Barca paid for Raphinha. Don't be rigid in thinking it through. Just pause and reflect. But now you are categorizing Neto as a dud. And something isn't telling you that your best player probably isn't influencing Neto's game productively. Don't shout. Look at Ferran Torres playing with Lamine. That should tell you all you need to know. |
airmark:"Lamine didn't score against Betis. They drew 0-0. Palmer created assists. CFC won 1-4 ". Meanwhile *Barcelona won their league. CFC were 4th* The brain that produced that statement is calling people dull. ![]() |
Maimakawa1:You know Palmer played for City? So we don't have to assume what he would do with so-called better players. We saw him. KdB played with far inferior players in Wolfsburg. Got the assist record in Germany, won their first cup for them. Finished 2nd in the league. The best players don't make excuses. Instead of holding Palmer to the same standard you're making excuses. |
drisham:I'm not holding onto Lamine. You need to hide the CFC aspect of your brain as it is making you sound silly. Lamine came up as an example of a player with a winning mentality from this season. Why will I use Foden when he didn't show it? When Foden showed it last season, I was here saying the same about him. It seems you've forgotten that Foden was the EPL POTY 23-24. Has Palmer won it? The CEO of a company won't be jealous of an entry level hireling. That much should be clear. |
Singapore1:If I discredit the CFC player what will I gain? You're no competition for City. I've not discredited Wirtz even when some of you said Cherki was better I disagreed yet one plays for City and the other for Liverpool. The truth is usually bitter like Alomo. I understand your discomfort. |
airmark:Even when I think you're joking, you'd type more illogical nonsense my way and I have to pause and really worry that you actually think you're making any sense. Palmer scored in the Euros and gave England "hope"? That's an achievement? He scored in the community shield? He scored in the Super Cup final? Did he not receive a pass to score? What makes you think the goal was more valuable than the assist for e.g? Do you think Lamine cared that Inter players were praising him when Barca lost or do you think he was crying because he wanted to win and give no excuses? His answers are online. I don't need your subjective (usually brainless opinion) by the way. You guys just have your heads in your behinds if I'm being brutally honest. I'm not even sure you understand the conversation that is ongoing. |
Gucciboy:I've been trying to avoid your arguments because they make no sense but you don't deserve to be called dull so you can understand my conundrum. If Palmer is the player you people think he is, RM will try to get him to upset what Lamine is doing in Barca. We all saw Liverpool pay €150m for someone else they believe can make the difference for them. Palmer is not that guy. He has to show it before you give him that crown. That's where I cannot help you. If you switched Palmer to Barca and moved Lamine to CFC, you'd see the difference. The Jackson and what not you are claiming isn't good will have the numbers you see Raphinha have. Raphinha was in Leeds. Before this season who here thought he was this prolific player? Don't lie to yourselves. Nobody did. But instead of thinking critically about why his output improved so drastically, you're here making excuses for Palmer. I've asked before so I'd ask again, what exactly is it that I, as a City fan should be worried about? My team's worst performance in years is still better than the season you're celebrating and while I was criticizing my players, you're making excuses for yours. We aren't the same. LOL |
Ihebu4chelsea:No because currently Palmer is the better player. That's why I was referring to their ceilings. In other words, how high they could go. City academy believe(d) that Oscar has the potential to be the best player at City. Palmer was also rated very highly - just not like Oscar. |
Ihebu4chelsea:I don't know why you're emotional. Both of them played for City academy. Oscar was rated higher. No be personal opinion. |
Google who KdB played with in Wolfsburg. Then you'd have a better picture of what better players do with whoever is around them. Why do you think Bayern, City and Liverpool wanted Wirtz? It is because from Kolñ, to B04, he was making the difference. Not scoring the most goals but doing enough to make sure his teams crossed the line. That's what the supreme talents do. If you need to keep making excuses for a player that hasn't been decisive enough, you'd do so for the rest of his career. Just watch. You'd change managers and keep making the same excuses. |
VicThory:I ignored that post because the person is arguing like air...head. There's a difference between RVN and R9. Both could score 30 goals per season but the type of goals will differ. Those who can use their tongues to count their teeth will know what I mean. |
VicThory:Exactly. And I warned even then that he has to keep showing that progression. It is not enough to be a big fish in a small pond. The best players make those around them better. That's how Lewa and co talk about Lamine. Players can tell you who makes the difference. People just prefer information that accommodates their feelings. |
drisham:You're asking moot questions. I even gave an example of the Betis game he decided for CFC and asked why he didn't do it when CFC were 2nd. Remember it was under the same Maresca. What changed? Mentality. By the way Oscar's ceiling is higher than Palmer's based on their time at the academy. I know CFC fans don't like to hear it but if he had that dog, he'd still be at City. Time will tell. |
drisham:There's a lot of moving parts to this but it seems you're only focused on one. Raphinha and Lewa played under Xavi before Lamine blossomed. What was their achievement? How does Raphinha perform without Lamine in his team? If Lamine wasn't showing signs, the Spanish national team wouldn't have selected him. He was 16. Which player in history does the team depend on at 16? You already think Palmer lacks a competent manager. But if you moved him to Barca and took Lamine to CFC, Barca will not have the same results. Ask Palmer himself. His interview is online talking about Lamine. |
airmark:Barcelona won the league. I pity you. Truly. |
Silentgroper:Relax. I'd rather be wrong than misunderstood. |
drisham:if he could decide it against Betis he should've done so before. You're making excuses. That's the difference. Lamine didn't want an excuse. The greatest players don't because they believe in this principle and I also live by it ![]() "If it is to be/ it is up to me" It is a 10 word sentence made of words made by 2 letters. That's my mantra. It has helped me in life. |
drisham:A child will crawl before they run. Lamine was crawling under Xavi. He is now running. Messi was not always the best player ever. He had to grow. If Palmer is that guy, he would still be at City but he is growing so we need to see that change. Winning mentality is beyond a coach. If it was, Foden wouldn't have been EPL POTY last season. KdB and Haaland got hurt and all of you on this thread said Arsenal will win the league. They didn't because Foden said NO and started deciding games. |
raumdeuter:I'll sign Nico Williams and not even think about his salary. I even want him for City. So yes he's my first choice. The order; 1. Nico 2. Mitoma 3. Leao 4. Gakpo 5. Barcola Barcola is not the shoot first winger you're looking for. He's Hazard 2.0. Even worse because he'll dribble and play the ball wide. He has ZERO goal sense. |
Leyqute:Can you point out the contradiction? You're a United fan so I have more respect for you. Please don't let me down. Please. Nihilist warned me and I didn't listen. |
As e dey sweet us. E dey pain dem. As e dey pain dem. E dey sweet us. ![]()
|
Leyqute:There are currently more City fans in Manchester than United. Fact. Of course, United is still the bigger franchise with a larger fan base worldwide. |
swiz123:It wasn't even a Palmer vs Lamine discussion in terms of talent. It was in terms of winning mentality. I was implying Palmer can and should be willing his team to win even without being the top scorer and I used the Conference league final to give an example of a moment where he did it. |
