That's a big lie ...politicians know they can't steal as they do now if they tax the masses ...they know the effect people would become more interested in government functions

Governor you don't need more than 3 cars in your motorcade would be the new normal ...we need to manage our money we contributed well

It's would be more difficult to pay people to vote for you even ...

They know the effect of taxing the the people
I hope so, we will need tax revenues to be public information as well including expenses

Nigeria makes less than 25 billion dollars a year from oil .......for a country of 150 million that's nothing ...that should be Lagos revenue

Until every Nigerian pay average of 150,000 naira in tax its impossible to develop this country
We don't pay any were close to the amount of taxes the govt needs to fund infrastructure. Now the issue i have is the taxes will also be looted. We need to bring in more serious deterrents for financial crimes. I love the US for this , the govt will take everything

Add red wine after the meat is cooked until the alcohol is dried up then add the tomatoes.

I find one diced and one can of paste makes the sauce really nice and thick.

After plating, shave some on top

it is true.

I make close to your figures and stays in nigeria but bro, there is still this fear in you of not falling and going broke.
Nigeria no get shock absorber. If you go out of job, you may likely deplete your savings and go aground without floating again.
In US, even after losing a job, within 6 months you would have gotten something to keep you afloat again and that is the big inssurance we are looking for. Nigeria no get insurance at all.
I don't want to get stuck and 15 years from now, my child will start blaming me that why didn't i leave during my time when when it was easier to travel than their time when my mates where leaving.
I hope not to here that statement from my kids in regret....that ''had i know statement''
Leave if you have to for sure. The best devs will eventually leave the country anyway and can earn well over $200k base salary, the upper limits a limitless in the US

I make well over $100k and if I wasn’t getting married here, I would be in Naija now working but I’m a Canadian now so I guess that makes a difference.

Alusiizizi:
That's precisely my plan. I'm not going anywhere. One would think that $100K in the U.S.A is real money but by the time you pay the government like $40K in taxes, house mortgage/Apartment, meals, fuel and all, you'll realize that you've got nothing.
Yea taxes are a bitch , you will still get taxed on the US side tho unfortunately.

That’s tiny as Bleep. I have a native apple tree right by my room at home. During the season , bats come at night to eat the fruit.

I usually smoke late night on my balcony right in front of the tree. The size of the bats that eats those fruits are fucking massive

Lol! Road sweepers probably earn minimum wage abroad. You think $2k to $3k per month is big money living abroad?
Lol minimum wage is no where close to $3k per month. In Canada minimum wage is $15 per hour, after tax that comes to $1800.

Minimum wage in the us is $7.25 we hour

you can accomodate someone who can split the bills with you. Once he or she gets on her feet they would move on. They might even be your benefactor tommorow
This is an ideal situation you have described but most won’t pay any rent or for any bills and will just eat your food.

On the other hand it’s soo expensive that most will already have room mates. Things are hard, it’s rare to see people that have an entire house with a spare room.

That arrangement is more likely in calgary.

I’ll put it in perspective, I pay $2950 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath. My spare room is free but it will be hard to take in a roommate mainly because I live with my wife and even then I would need to have a guarantee the person will leave within a month.

My wife and I are even managing to share the space , I can’t imagine another adult with us

but the indian community are helping each other even with hardship. Nigerian community is the worst, is all about competition.
They have been in Canada for several generations, those things really matter. Compared to a fresh immigrant 10 years in still trying to find his feet.

The Nigerian community will help you here no doubt but it will have to be family and even then e get as e be.

It also depends on the location, here in Vancouver housing is very expensive, so there is no room for housing someone long term. Especially when 3 or more adult will potentially be sharing a toilet and bathroom.

My parents hate it here for that one reason lol

Jaqenhghar:
True. Once you are go getter with a solid plan you'll get there. It may not be easy at first but you will get there.
It's not impossible , i'll tell you main problem with Nigerians that come here. In fact it applies to all African immigrants.

If 10 students come from Africa maybe only 1 or 2 will really make it and settle down. The other nine will most likely drop out of school within the first couple years. 2 out of the 9 drop outs will end up in Nigeria because of family or financial reasons. 1 will get deported. The rest will start families with only waec

The biggest factor is who you hang out with. If you hang out with people that goto university and finish , you will also finish. The moment you begin to hang with people that are outside of campus you begin to lose your way.

A good friend of mine was always nice and calm, going to church and doing his thing. In his final year he really got into working out and became really muscular. He joined the rowing team in school , made new friends , got a girlfriend and moved off campus.

In that same final year, he stopped going to his classes , he lost his dad and ended up back in Nigeria. What's sad is before he came to Canada he was living in Dubai with his family. Till date he hasen't been able to come back to finish his schooling, this was almost 10 years ago.

When i think about it it makes mee feel some how because i had many chances , i changed school 3 times from engineering to computer information systems and finally finished after 8 years. For many they only had one chance before life will strike.

Im not saying its impossible. It is not the general rule. Did she tell you the process she went through?
I also know of a bank manager in naija who when he relocated to UK couldn't find a job as a banker.
She did an MBA in US, that was the key thing. She's always been a go getter from time sha.

I took a look at her profile and according to it she started out as an intern then worked her way up
Yea she's up there now , but she did an MBA and her time at xerox was probably a contributing factor as well
