Hi guys,

My school just sent my new I-20 now because after i got denied for falls i had to defer my admission. So my question is, can i still use my Sevis fee for the new I-20, Or let me put it this way, does every i20 come with different Sevis ID number? or always the same ID number so far its still the same school. and Can i book for interview without having my New i-20 at hand. I await your response.

PS. I read on the internet some days ago. Ambassador McCulley says Nigerians are to get US visa within 20 days. Please how true is this.
TravelRe: A Question About France by Anthonymighty(m): 3:50pm On Oct 18, 2012
hello guys, first of all i know this is not a thread for FRANCE visa but its related to france enquiries. I have searched for such thread and didnt see. Please can someone just attend to my question below:

I was recently denied visa to go to france on tourism purpose. Yesterday when i went to pickup my passport at VFS i was given a white paper where they marked 3 different reasons why i was denied but i am still confused because i submitted all authentic and necessary docs. Here are the reasons they gave me so one of you can please explain to me what it means and what i have to do to correct these mistakes because i am planning to re-apply next week.

REASONS ARE AS FOLLOW:

1) You have not provided proof of sufficient means of subsistence, for the duration of the intended stay or for the return of the country of origin or residence, or for the transit to a third country into which you are certain to be admitted, or you are not in a position to acquire such means lawfully. (dont know what this means. meanwhile i have a kenya tourist visa on my passport valid for 3 months but i have not gone.)

2) the information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable

3) your intention to leave the territory of the member state before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained.

Those are the 3 reasons. i really want to work on this reasons but i need to be sure what i am doing this time so i dont get refused for the 2nd time. I await your response my good people. thanks

TravelRe: Nigerians In Belize And Bahamas: by Anthonymighty(m): 10:01am On Sep 21, 2012
19naia: I was in belize in 2000 or 1999...it is a very simple country, the capital city Belmopan reminded me of a town and not a city..Water is every where and most people there as tourist visit the ancient pyramid sites or do ocean tours in the cays (cays are large stretches of ocean with islands and the water never gets deeper than a swimming pool)..Some places you can walk few kilometres out to sea without finding your chest underwater.....it is not a hustling kind of place, the big city there is like a town and even some nigerian towns are more populated...the many black people there are very much like jamaicans and talk like that...i hired a car to take me to guatemala the neighbour country, and the driver was a joyful black man that had much marijuana as is common there.....there is casino hotels there as the most likely big industry there other than fishing and farming...belize is unusually expensive compared to the neighbour central american countries, maybe because they link their economy more to the carribean and not central america where they are seated....many americans retire to live there and english is the main benefit in belize...from belize,i entered and visited guatemala and also mexico....I am currently south of belize in nicaragua and visiting between honduras, costarica, and panama......Dont expect to have to hustle in belize, and dont expect to suffer if you dont have good job making big money..life in belize is easy if you are content with simple things in life and natural surroundings...nature is so well preserved there that belize is one of the few countries with healthy jungle supporting the rare black jaguar and howler monkeys..And much more.... I travel with american passport and US dollars,so i dont have problems entering the country and visa requirements..many of the central and south american countries allow US citizens to just come without visa and they stamp passport for 3 to 6 months for a small fee...sorry no experience with having to apply visas here....this thread post gives me the idea to visit belize again,i can take the bus from here less than 24 hour trip costing about $70.00....Enjoy..
That's a really nice story you wrote above. Its really a nice place for relaxation and not to hustle. Can you help a brother by helping me in there because I think visa to belize shud be easy. A friend told me all he did was just send his passport down there and his uncle helped him get the visa done and sent the passport with a belize visaa on it. As simple as that because his uncle is an American too. Is that still possible or do one have to get documents piled up in order to get the visa? I heard they have an embassy at Garki in Abuja. Kindly advice.
TravelRe: Nigerians In Belize And Bahamas: by Anthonymighty(m): 10:02am On Sep 20, 2012
Where is everyone here. I am planning to go to Belize too. I don't know much about there.is belize a developed country, Is their economy good and does it snow there? And how about schooling...is their education system standard like that of USA? Or other developed country in europe.

king1_00: Just Passing by.

Wishing everyone applying for visa come fall success, especially my man deeverick, you shall testify. For those applying to community college or what have you, sincerely i used to think that the school you apply to can decrease your chances of getting a visa but thats a big lie. I know of more than 5 different people that applied to a community college this year and currently in the US. As a matter of fact i was on a flight with one of them he applied to a community college in Vegas. I sincerely do not know the criteria for a visa, but in my own opinion, community college is not what everyone says it is here. I applied to a private school in Ohio that nobody knows not even the VO and i was given my visa. My 2 cents pls complete your DS 190 form in a very professional and coordinated manner, cus thats all they gat on you. I hate to say this but luck also comes into play. A new Nigerian student joined me in my school early this week and trust me when i say this, if this guy could get a visa, all nairaland should also get one.

May the good Lord guide your steps and lead you the the right VO that will issue your visa My 2 cent.

For those currently in the US pls before yo make any serious crucial decision, call your relative in the US or a nairalander. Knowledge is power. I am adjusting very fine so far because i have a brother and a sister down here.

All is well that ends well, the struggle is not over. US is another set of struggle, trust me because the people here are totally different, or maybe its just state, dont know.
Please can you give an example on that. How do you mean complete your DS 190 form in a very professional manner. Are there special ways to fill that form? kindly advice.

PS. is it DS 190 or DS 160 form.....im confused o undecided

bigfrancis21: SAT/ACT and TOEFL are the two main exams for undergrad education in the US. Depends on your school's requirement. Since you already got admission and just want to write one of the exams I mentioned to stand a better chance at the next interview, i'd suggest you write TOEFL. Its not hard and try scoring above 80. I know you can wink
Sent the TOEFL materials to you.
The fee is N37,000 (E-global technology). http://eglobaltechng.com/examreg.html
The next available dates are oct 12, oct 19 and oct 27. They are based in Lagos but have centres in Ibadan, Owerri, Port-harcourt, Enugu, Abia, etc.
Thanks mate. I got the materials and the whole info. 1 love.

I went for OND. its a diploma and not BSc. I had transcript from my Diploma school, secondary school and certificate courses i had been doing prior to the interview. I would have shown the VO but he was not interested i think. I am going for undergraduate, even if i already had an undergrad cert. cant i go for another undergrad in a different major?

Ovap. You got denied also. Sorry bro. We were both bleeped by whites. If I may ask, where did you do your interview? We just need to prepare more and this time I have also decided to take exams. And I wanna get an EU visa before I re-apply again. Just to have a travel experience, I was told it aids it too. Good luck next time to us mate.

kpolli: Sorry bro
Quick question, when did u leave secondary skool? Cos that's why he probably assumed u were a student or working
Kpolli I finished senior high in 2003. And I went for undergraduate. But I had back up docs to show him what I have been doing since 2003 till date if he had asked. Because I had my OND and did some other computer certificate courses. All docs was with me yesterday but the douchebag didn't even bother asking or looking at the pack full of docs I went with. So why did you think he assumed I was a student or working. He saw it there that I was going for bachelor's and I had a sponsor. Yet he was asking me if I work after I had told him and he knows I am a prospective undergrad. Student. Those people are just hobos. You need to see how he was interacting with this gurl that day because she was cute and he gave her visa after smiling and laughing with her. Smh

imperiouxx: @Anthonymighty,

In case of next time you are working and for who? Your dad. Find something to attach yourself to in your dad's business and claim that what you have been doing. The number of admission isn't the issue but it's not your time that's why the VO didn't feel convince enough. Best of luck next time.
Oh! You mean I should have told him I work with my dad. That's right o!...anyways this is my first time and I have gathered some experience. I'll go back there and I am sure I would get it.
Thanks

bigfrancis21: From what I've read about what's on the mind of VOs, if you have more rejects than accepts, they believe you're generally not good enough for their academic standard. It's their way of knowing the student's academic strengths.

By asking you if you were working he wanted to know if you have ties to your home country, but I don't see that as a criteria for the visa na undecided. Someone here on NL who got his visa and posted his interview some pages back had to lie that he was working when the VO asked him. You may have to use this strategy next time.

By asking you if you were a student to which you unknowingly answered yes to, he may have felt you're already studying and don't need that of XYZ University. Unless you're on transfer.
If I had told them more than 1 school admitted me the VO would definitely ask for the other i-20 from the other school. And in the aspect of Working. I was going for undergraduate. I have a sponsor and docs to back it up. Why should I tell him I work? I still don't know why I was denied but I just believe I won't giveup. I have emailed my school now and I will defer to January.

Imperiouxx abeg help me look into this matter and pinpoint where I fuckup o...because I dey vex o.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part3 by Anthonymighty(m): 4:44pm On Sep 12, 2012
After so much biometrics at number 5 stand...and waiting...there were only 2 people interviewing...A man on Number 7 I think in his late 30's and a woman at number 9 other stands where empty. I was saying abi this people no dey come work again?. Anyways I was studying them as usual, I noticed the guy was friendly to females and the woman was a little friendly but calm and strict. But in general they were only giving out visas to parent and parent(s) who came with their kids. They gave all of them visas. But they denied 4 students that that went before me and the guy gave just 1 student then called me for my turn. Here was how It went:

VO: Good afternoon sir.
Me: good afternoon sir
VO: I can see you got admitted into school XYZ
ME: yes
VO: How many schools did you apply too and how many admitted you
ME: I applied to 3 schools.(I named them) but just school XYZ admitted. (Vo started typing)
VO: How long are you planning to study there for:
ME: 55 months
VO: how did you come about the school
ME: I am a member of IEEE and we have a student forum where prospective students interact with themselves and a friend of mine from this school told me about it
VO: How much is your tuition fee
ME: I told him the amount excluding accomodation
VO: your i-20 here states you are a student ( I was wondering what he meant by that)
Me: YES.
VO: so which school do you attend
ME: I told him NO, I'm not a student here. I'm only a student planning to study at school XYZ ( those are the exact words I told him...I had a feeling I had begin to mess finz up)
VO: Where do you work
ME: I don't work
VO: How do you intend to pay the fees
Me: My dad is paying
VO: what does he do
ME: He import and sell cars
VO: oh! Ok does he import new or used cars
Me: I said New cars at first...then I don't know what made me include used. I told him new and used cars ( I believe I made another mess here again)
VO: where do you live
Me: Lagos but we have a house here in abuja.
Vo: family house
Me: yes

Then the vo keeps typing like forever and after the typing he put my DS-160 form in one cabinet and brought out a white photocopied paper: and he said; Unfortunately you are ineligible for a non-immigrant visa today. The white paper I gave you explains it all. You may consider re-applying. Then my face changed and I started feeling sick. And I left. But I will go back there...but it would be next semester. Because I was given a late resumption offer by my school because I couldn't get an early date so I'll have to defer my admission now and get a new i-20 for winter semester in January and try again.

Please great minds in the house, what could be the reason for my refusal. He didn't ask me for bank statement or sponsorship letter or any document I was expecting him to ask. Please kindly advice.

imperiouxx: @tony,

Though you got no test score, still you are good to go like seedord said. Best of luck.
imperiouxx, I didnt take the test because initially, i did not really think it was needed until i saw everyone here talking about it, I tried to quickly do one but the dates i saw were far from my appointment date, so i had to rest my case to God. And another reason i wasnt serious abt the test was because about 3 of my friends that has gone successfully to Yankee, during their interviews, the VO never asked. One just traveled to New jersey last week friday, he had his interview at abuja last 2 weeks and he wasnt asked about any test too. I just pray i wont be asked too. Favour of God is all i seek. and i will be alright because i have learnt so much from this forum. grin

Thanks dude...What do you mean by the bold text there. does the DS 160 have questions to be based on? As for the sponsorship, its just an official letter from my Dad stating he is my dad and he will be the one sponsoring me and after my study i will return to take a strategic and leading role in his company. which is also part of the ties needed. and it is accompanied with the statement.

Hello guys. I am having my interview next week too. Abeg make una pray for me o. Here are the items I'm going with. Please if I am missing anyone kindly signify:

Admission letter
I-20
Travel Passport
2 passport photo with white background
Mrv (visa fee) receipt from GT bank
DS-160
Sevis fee Original receipt
Original Waec cert.
School's statement of result
Transcript for ssce and ond
Ond Certificate
Letter of Sponsorship
Statement of account.

Please I need to know if I'm good to go with all the following above and if I'm still missing any, kindly tell me. Thanks

imperiouxx: Go with the notification since that all you can get for now. You can ask your department head or the office of the registrar to give you letter with respect to that. Copy of transcript isn't good enough. Why don't you ask your school to give you a new one addressed to the embassy and you go with that. When asked for your transcript, you show the VO and ask that you're about tearing the envelope. Best of luck.

imperiouxx: TO PHY,

Just got back now and got your time. Have we ever met before and why you always pick on me here? I owed you anything? Have I ever asked you anything or picked on you before on this thread? Why don't you have anything good to contribute but to come, say s h i t and leave? Let this be the last time you'll ever direct comment to me or you quote my statement. In fact, who the hell are you? If I'm tracked what's your f u c k ing headache about that. Are you the one paying my school fee or you brought me here? Are you ok at all? Respect yourself because I found it hard to believe you're a graduate student and never, ever again on this thread say imperiouxx, else you get it raw. If I send the materials and you're pissed about it....go to hell or strike your head against wall and call your police or FBI to come for me. On this thread pleassssse don't cross to my line again.
Hey easy guys....Imperioxx and PHY. You are guys and not girls. Take things cool. Most of us look up to you guys and you can't show us examples like this. I respect you a lot Imperioxx so please keep your honored reputation and always ignore messages day you find offensive rather than voice it out. Thanks bro......my own piece of puff puff.

TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part3 by Anthonymighty(m): 10:13am On Aug 23, 2012
biofem2000: Ovap, here`s what I think about standardized test requirements/preference. Your school sets the rules. If your school says its a requirement, then it is a must that you have it. If its a preference, it is a matter of choice. If it is neither a requirement nor preference, you have no business with it. Like someone said, these are Americans. Yes, so am I and a whole lot of us. Being an American does not make you a small god. You need to be able to defend yourself when someone question your choice. If someone askes you " Why didn`t you take GRE?", if it is not a requirement, the answer should simple be my course of study does not require that I take GRE. Simple. That is the simple truth. If you`re asked "Why didn`t you take TOEFL? The answer should be "Since the language of instruction for my undergrad studies is English, I am not requred to take a test of English". Again, simple. For the sake of all that is holy, aren`t we speaking English? ( Oh well I know we`re not writing English).
I think it is high time we let "people" know what we are made of and wht we can do. Why take TOEFL if it is not required? Why let someone question your ability to speak a language you were not taught? To many of us, English is like a second mother tongue. We didn`t learn it, we simply started speaking it. We need to actively stop giving the impression that we can only speak in monkey. If you need a TOEFL waiver, write an impressive statement of purpose. Simple. If you`re asked why you got a waiver, tell the VO your statement of purpose was from out of this world. Oh, shhhhh don`t tell the VO I said this but I bet he/she will not pass the TOEFL.

My suggestion is go for your interview with confidence knowing you have done all that is required of you. The VO does not expect you to go above and beyond what the school expect of you. You have satisfied the school requirement, there is nothing like the VO requirement. These are people who have been trained to do what they do; they do not expect you to be a genius. For all you know the person interviewing you may be a 26 year old with nothing more than a high school diploma (Ha ha ha... here goes the American) and guess what? Because he sees the fear in you, he capitalises on your vulnerability and squeezez life out of you for the 3 mins you are in front of him/her. Take charge. Be confident. The VO is American, You are Nigerian.

I wish you luck!

Hey Guys. I have not been commenting for sometime. I was only doing the reading. So far; all the interview experiences shared...I noticed the VO all asked for GRE, SAT or TOEFL. But my school never asked me for that so I didn't do any of 'em. I am having an interview next month and I will like to know if that won't be a problem. I am going for Undergraduate studies. Will they still ask me for it because I noticed most of youz are for Masters. Kindly reply pls. Almighty imperioxxxx....I hail o. U too much. God bless ya 4 everything u have been doing here.

Hi guys....Please can someone tell me what month does WINTER 2013 fall into. I think my school is trying to tell me its late for me to apply for SPRING 2013. which to me i feel it should still be possible to be able to re-apply because i have their i-20 for fall 2012 but cant get an appointment before the school's resumption date. so since they already have all my info, it should be easier for me to defer to Spring. why are they saying WINTER is the next available to defer too. I need suggestions House. Thanks
