Hello Nairalanders,
What would you advice a woman who walked into the room and found her husband on top of another woman (having sex) to do?

What should be the best reaction for her at that moment?

Should she fight the husband and his female companion? Should she walk away?

Should she discuss with them calmly?

I need both male and female inputs please, thank you.

What is the best response for a woman who walked in on her husband sleeping with another woman?.
Thanks.

Had to quote you on this thread!

Just know I'm rooting for you guys and always reading your diaries and write-ups. I learn a lot from them and I'm proud of you and others with enough sense to stand up against the male oppression!

I really don't have time to write and comment like before, cause I got my hands full; 9 to 5job, mothering, house work etc but I still log in once in a while to read and relax, though I may not comment.

Thumbs up girl

4. Leech Collectors
In the days before modern medicine, leeches were used for bloodletting, a medical practice in which doctors extracted blood from a patient to treat various diseases.

You might view this as a strange and barbaric practice, but leeches were actually in high demand by doctors.

So much so that there were people who collected them for a living.

These β€œleech collectors” often went into swamps and marshes to find the leeches.

They would use old horses, which the leeches attached themselves to, or the collector would use their own bodies to attract the leeches.

Can you imagine having to do this for a living?

That's awesome!

Stem cell therapy and gene therapy are already primed to disrupt the health sector.

@Apatheticme, how's it going? wink
I hope you had the time to take deeper breaths of fresh air and enjoy the holidays with your fam.

Whoa! So, as a doctor, what's your take on these cutting-edge disruptions in anti-aging research.

How are these disruptions going to affect your branch of medical practice employment-wise?

There will be need for some
foresight to be able to adapt IMHO.

Hi!
I'm fine thanks. Hope you're good too?

Holiday for where😭😭😭😭, Emergencies wan kill meπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

Well I wouldn't say stem cell would cause any disruption in the health sector so to speak, rather it has offered hope for a lot of persons with debilitating diseases.

It would interest you to know that diseases such as sickle cell is treatable with stem cell transplantation. Other medical conditions where stem cell transplant has also excelled and offered hope include Leukaemias, Lymphomas, Blood dyscrasias, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, AML, Turner's syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis and a whole lot of cancers particularly blood and lymphatic based cancers!!

It would interest you to know that many patients with Leukaemias, sickle cell have been CURED with stem cell transplantation.

There's currently cutting edge research on going in usage of stem cell therapy for spinal cord injuries to offer hope to paraplegics and some quadriplegics.

Stem cell is seriously being considered for management of Diabetes especially Type 1 DM which is absolute insulin deficiency. If the beta-islet cells can be regenerated by pluripotent stem cells then maybe we can achieve a cure.

So basically this anti aging stuff is just the aesthetic, sensational part of stem cell that you'll hear because it's media-appealing (afterall everyone wants to live long) so it's a topic that is eye catching!!

Stem cell has been in use for a long time in the medical practice and is here to stay without 'disruptions'πŸ˜„ So keep an open mind that stem cell is beyond those 'spurious' pills being marketed by some pharmaceuticals as stem cell wonder drug.

The real stem cell therapy entails harvesting pluripotent stem cells from a healthy donor and transplanting it into a diseased recipient that has been irradiated, with all cell lines dead, in the hope that the transplanted cells differentiates into various cell lines and replaces the diseased, worn out cells.

(I can't say more than this here because it's social media) however, a lot more is involved to finally cure the condition.

It's an expensive procedure, tasking for both physician and patient, and of course has a failure rate too, can't remember the percentage right now.

Employment wise, stem cell surgeons/physicians/haemato-oncologists are one of the highest paid and sought after in the medical world particularly oncologists. So this time no one is losing their jobs because of stem cells πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Adaptation would only mean learning and upgrading knowledge in this direction so as to be up-to-date with contemporary medical practice and knowledge, since it's a highly promising field.

Happy weekend, enjoy your weekend.

I'm praying to enjoy mine, hoping for no emergencies πŸ˜’πŸ˜“

XAUBulls:

Whoa! The feedback you gave here on the regimented medical space floored me. The NMA and the
Nursing Council would only take drastic actions against these paternalistic and narcissistic med elders, if the younger medical professionals engage in mass protests. I guess the younger ones are too occupied with the pressures of daily living and the plans to leave for greener pastures in Saudi Arabia or the Western countries.

Forget NMA, they are only interested in their monthly deductions from our salaries, and MDCN only interested in your annual practice license renewal fees!

You rarely post but this is a nice and sound post wink. I would have loved to see the post XAU.Bulls mentioned because I'm sure the content was detail rich and valuable.

Hiya!

Thanks for your kind words.

I rarely post because this place has been taken over by kids and disgruntled elements, and lately tribal/gender slurs are flying everywhere.

No educative threads, no inspiring issues to discuss other than gender and tribal wars. I have my sanity to preserve biko. For instance this thread is almost a year! If not XAUBulls that mentioned me, I have completely forgotten about this thread!! I just come here once in a while, read headlines, few sensible comments and log out grin

I do read your comments most times though, and some other sensible people here and I'm always glad we still have good people around!

Happy Sunday!!

@Mystery2020, this thread is an accurate summary of workplace realities. I smiled when I saw the financial services sector topping the chart. That is one sector I never want to go back to in my lifetime, it was a very cutthroat, high stakes and high stress environment........and to think it was not even a traditional bank offering microfinance or commercial banking services.

Lol... How's it going Doc?
Yup, the faster than a "speeding bullet" way of post deletions has become the norm for some folks here.

You remind me of one of my favourite female Nlanders here who also likes to delete her posts, and she says it's her way of carrying out "detoxification." Her reason didn't resonate with me though when she told me that... but then she has a right of choice.

The elder medical personnel you talked about have to go for "Emotional Intelligence" crash-courses and trainings in order to be able to handle the needs of all medical personnel in this tech age where e-medicine is now the norm. The fact that they had their own early medical years in relatively "conservative settings" doesn't give them the right to demoralize the entire workforce.

As to the many challenges you've faced on the job, my take is that you really have to start gearing up for some Diasporan employment too like the folks who have left. There are useful threads here on NL for that as well and many of your colleagues frequently visit here [the Travel threads especially]. The Tech field may be experiencing some headwinds right now with the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank last [a major financier of about half of all Tech start-ups], and the cut in staff strength of many Tech companies such as FB, Twitter, etc, BUT the health sector space is lit right now.

Do have a lovely weekend ahead and I'll stay in touch to gain some more unique perspectives from you.

Thanks, and you too. Enjoy your weekend.

Ciao! wink

P.S. Just curious, what made you to choose the @apatheticme NL user name?

Doc apatheticme, what happened to your feedback to me that you posted right here?!

I earlier skimmed through it only once and I liked some of the feedback insights and perspectives but because of a prior work-related engagement, I had to re-schedule replying you.

I was just gearing up to reply you and now it's gone (i.e., your post). I'm trying hard to recall some of what I assume you wrote... so as to have a better convo/reply.

Instead of deleting the post so quickly like a "speeding bullet," there are folks that would have learned from your unique insights on the subject matter of the thread.

I've been a veteran member of NL since 2005 using my older NL account, so, I understand full-well the need to be circumspect here and why you didn't want to give too much out on location though.

Lol @ bolded grin grin

NL is a strange place, so I've learnt over time to take down some posts as quickly as possible.

Don't mind me

In my opinion, that guy did not make any sense. I have come across hard-working and well-cultured ladies who contribute immensely to themselves, their families and the workplace. I discussed with them frequently, so when he was told to change his environment, it was actually good advice. Honestly, I am proud of how my parents brought my siblings and me up because we no fit reason like this. There will always be the good and bad, handsome and ugly, and logical and illogical people in society. That said, I don't consider the average Nigerian man to be intelligent. Nigeria is a case study of how a country is when governed by unintelligent men, so the braggadocio that men are inventors and built successful societies does not apply to Nigerian men. Na white and East Asian men get those appellations. Interestingly, you would never see them make mouth o.

I think the major issue with these Ndi alfa meils is poverty because if na public education, I and my siblings and even these ladies I know all passed through the public education system. Hasty generalisations are not the right ways to look at issues holistically. On the other hand, Ndi feminists have their own faults, and one of the reasons alfa meilism rose is because of the extremism of Ndi feminism

Hmmm, workplace toxicity hampers productivity in the long-run and messes with employees' mental health.

The health sector particularly is deeply rooted in bullying and all kinds of oppression particularly from medical elders. Funnily enough, it's not just a Nigerian thing.

Of course everyone should have a voice and be assertive. Those are not the problems.

It is your masculine attitude that makes me sure the only kind of man that can marry you must be feminine and docile.

This is what I saw in the OP and that I was sure your husband would exactly be like. You surely must walk all over him, while he is patient and trying to please you.
