What I have come to understand and made peace with is the not all women will be alphas, just like not all males are alphas.

Omg! A guy just created a thread on romance section asking if there's anything wrong in calling his married ex to come cook for him! Omg!
The lady not only agreed, she also went with him to the market to buy the ingredients! grin

I swear, I'm so pissed right now! grin

Its mostly religious and societal programming that makes women/girls decide to depend on males for things they can handle on their own.

But I agree that girls should take more steps to be more powerful, rich/independent so they dont have to depend on some male that treats them like thrash.

This stupid bragging from males about how women are dying to be with them and get married to them is so disgusting.

grin Those things are what make Nigerian men feel incharge .Part of the submissiveness.Their Ego fully massaged and pumped?

Do you want them deflated and see it worthless? grin
Only an insecure man (which most Nigerian men are anyway) will have issues with his wife/girl being able to solve basic problems or face basic challenges without always calling for help!

It is this same reason that makes most Nigerian men scared of their wives being high fliers, achievers and career driven!

Only a woman raised with Inferiority complex and a poor sense of self worth will keep waiting for a man before she can do anything.

Personally, my hubby even prefers me dealing with our mechanic for instance, because I get better results plus cheaper prices. They see him as a big man, so whenever he wants to fix anything, they bill him. Something of #7500 for instance maybe brake pad for one leg, they'll tell him 20k. But if na me, I'll go buy the stuff myself and supervise them sef. Hubby doesn't have that much time, besides he's so cool with delegating duties! So even his own car, I take it for fixing, servicing anything. We'll just exchange cars if need be.

I remember when we were still doing our building project, many tasks that I was the one who handled it, many things I was the one in charge. Infact there were days I'll be the one to go to site and supervise/coordinate workers - mason man, plumber, electrician, carpenters etc.

Infact hubby never bought a single plumbing material! From pipes, to GP Tanks, to submersible pump for borehole, I was the one who bought everything, and they were top notch at good prices! I only took the plumber along and coordinated everything!

Whatever we're doing at home, hubby believes in doing it together, including both of us working on our PhD together currently! I could go on and on.

God knows I've got no freaking business with an insecure man, that will tell you don't do this, or don't touch this. I'm amazed when I see some women that would even say their hubby don't allow them drive, I'm like wtf!

Caveat:
I know some Broke ass wimps aka Red Pillers would soon come and tag my hubby a simp for making the home a place of growth and progress, but he's way more Alpha than they could ever be all their lives! Alpha is not subjugation of women, neither is it misogyny, unfortunately these retards can't see beyond their noses!

I'll rather be single than be with a man who limits my potentials or sees me as an object to be used and discarded! I rest my case.

I don't know why Nigerian men like to assume that divorced women desire marriage. In many cases they truly dont want to remarry because of the trauma they went through in their first marriage.
Even some single women are only looking for marriage because of societal pressure and not because they cannot survive without it.

I guess its very sweet and boosts their self esteem to tell themselves that females are craving marriage to men and are desperate to be with them.

KANAKU

Anger Issues

Life as a thug is hard. Although there are different seasons with different opportunities which you have to recognize or be smart enough to create, but the truth is that in the long run, the struggle is real. I like to believe I'm well feared from Mushin to Shitta and this respect has its own perks, like I could always expect to get weed for free and I'm assured of taxing at least one or two people to take care of my bread and beans breakfast plus jedi and cigga.

"Mtcheeeew"
lately I had been sighing and frowning a lot but can you blame me? Decades hustling in these godforsaken streets and what did I have to show for it? everyday a new scheme to survive, to earn small money that didn't even last. The hole digging had worked perfectly fine the other day. I think the three of us had made abaout 7k each, but then, we got to do it only once in a while cause the weather conditions had to be just perfect with the perfect amount of rainfall before Isa did the digging, that was the only way the cars could get stuck.

Apart from similar schemes the other way I made money in the street was by good old fashion intimidation.

There was good money in the streets even if it was change, but it was easy come, easier go. You see, I have a daughter, she was just 7 months and her mother, the ever stubborn Barakat had decided it was her life calling to nag me to death until I "did the right thing and married her" She just refused to understand that I had no plans of settling down anytime soon. I could imagine it; the great kanaku, self acclaimed lord of the streets now a loving husband and father. Hahaha, no one would fear me again for sure.

It was fine just like this, Barakat and I had been practically living together before she even got pregnant, why complicate things and add a ring? I liked life with her and the baby just fine but the only problem is she had decided to punish me by constantly milking every little money I have to always buy something urgently for the baby. It's always urgent, and God help me if I failed to give her, I won't be able to rest, and when she starts shouting, Ruki will always start crying, and she knew my daughter was the most important thing in my life and I will always do my part and provide.

Which is why I was always angry these days. The small change that used to be enough wasn't cutting it anymore. In fact the small change alone was diaper money these days. I still had to hustle for formula money, clothes money, drug money. And trust Barakat, since I refused to give her what she really wanted, she made damn well sure to collect whatever baby money she asked for. Ask me what she was doing with her life apart from making my life a living hell? I wonder. She's supposed to be a "very good hair stylist." Once in a blue moon, a customer comes to the house....my house, they gist, eat my food, watch my tv and then she finally plaits her hair.

I was so cranky I decided to head to the bus park instead of going home.

It was at the bus park I saw the Jjc. It's never hard to spot a jjc, some of them try their best to hide it but if you scrutinize them long enough you'll notice the signs; they never maintain eye contact, they are always restless and they're always unfamiliar with the hood usually cause they don't go out much. This particular jjc had shades on to cover his eyes and was dressed in carrot jean and some fancy footwear. His swag was complete up to the durag and down to his airpods. I had a category for his type, I called them ice cream boys and they were my favourite type of jjc's. How? Just observe;

"Fine boy, wettin you dey find?" I barked out from outside Isa's shop where I had been sitting and observing the young fellow. It was obvious he wanted something and I could guess what it was. He looked at me then hurriedly took some relieved steps forward. Merche' the vulcanizer idly observed me from his tree spot prepared for the show since business was slow today.

"weldone bros...please, abeg I dey find...I want buy...errrm arizona"

"How many you wan buy?" I asked.

"Please I need 1k"

I stretched out my hand and he brought out one thousand naira note which I immediately squeezed in my palm. "Suleiman" I called out

My unofficial right hand man appeared in a flash. He was never too far away.

Now I could predict what will happen next all too clearly ; "Take this 1k, collect AZ from Baba for this young man, sharp sharp"
"sure tin egbon," Suleimon would take the money and dissapear and bring the weed and I'll give the kid and say; "make I hold something for here," or maybe ask; "you no go buy our own?"
Either way, maybe he'll drop 5hundred, maybe 1k, then I give suleiman 40% for his troubles. So I go home with how much? I had SmA gold on my mind, frisocreme on my mind, pampers on my mind, lots and lots of pampers. For such small creatures, babies pooped a whole lot.

Unsatisfied with the scenerio, I shook my head and pocketed the 1 thousand naira. "first things first..." Suleimon was looking at me expectantly, ready to follow any direction I play it.

I noticed the jjc move from side to side from the corner of my eye, restless. Perfect.

"Suleimon them dey sell weed for here?"

"no officer"

Hahahaha crazy Suleimon called me officer

I looked at the boy, "do you know who I am? you want to buy Arizona from soldier, you will explain yourself in the barracks,"

Normally the boy wouldn't believe this crap, not with my bushy goatie and casual but terrifying face, heck I was even wearing a faded small Pasuma concert t-shirt but then again he had no choice than to believe because he didn't have the balls to challenge this bullshit I'm feeding him. You see how this works? it's all about guts, and if you wanna go far in the streets, you have to learn to say no or else vultures like myself would hustle you to the ground.

I ended up cleaning the boy out of extra 3k. Of course he got his weed, I'm not heartless. Sule got 1k and I went home with 2k, which entered Barakat's claws not long after.

Still it's important to always turn it around and become friends with these people, when you hustle someone once in the streets, you make him your friend. That's because no one likes to be taken a fool for long. Even a coward will fight back after a while. That's why you see crooked police exchange contacts and tell you to call them if you run into trouble, after they finish extorting you.

Same thing happens on the street. After everything I did to him, we smoked one of the 10 wraps and I gave him my phone number. "if anybody bother you on this street, just find me come. You be sure boy, oya na ma guy!"

I found out his name was Jackson and he was lodged in a hotel close by. He had asked around discreetly and been told he could buy dope at the motor park.

I saw him like three more times after that day and always taxed him continuously while reminding him I was now in his corner.

Back at home I had figured out a simple recipe that worked and reduced all the nagging.

Barakat couldn't complain about anything if the baby was asleep because my small apartment carried voices through the thin walls. So anytime she was about to throw a tantrum or complain about something, I always stopped her with, "shh, the baby's sleeping"

And my little girl was just like her old man, she didn't like stress. She just wanted to eat, sleep, play with her fish chewy toy, have a fresh change of diapers and sleep some more. So you see, all my street scheming, intimidation tricks, scowling and frowning and even at times fighting is just to make sure my baby girl is comfortable, cause when she's comfortable I get a little peace.
I like the slight touch of humanity in this character!

The fact that the guy is tough and roughing it out on the streets, yet has a daughter to care for makes him all the more human!

Terrific!!!

FamilyRe: Challenges Of Being A Man In Our 'modern' Society by apatheticme(f):
LadyRosa:
Hmm...

The challenges of being a man in a modern world is the aftermath of precautionary measures the west and other civilized communities has put in place to reduce the brutal roles men played in women's lives in time past. Women have always been at the receiving end of men's egotistical excesses.

" Na woman she be leave am", may also be a reverse psychological to restrain men who on a normal day would never fight their fellow men standing on the street. I have seen men argue at moto parks, swear and curse each other, flex muscles as to what damage they are likely cause to each other, only for them to settle their disputes, go home and beat up their wives, sisters for issues as little as not putting enough meat on their meals.

Funny thing is many Nigeria men will always defend any brutality that will affect their mothers and sisters from their gender, but will want to exercise same thing to other people's female gender. If the thing dey vex you if them beat your mother like thief, why you come won beat another person pikin like thief. Talk about hypocrisy.
Una just won hustle, _4ck, let the woman born, If she no born push am comot carry another, beat them if them talk pass their mouth like the old days?! Na this modern times has really set a good precedence, and in no distant times I see pro women laws sweeping over the entire black continent. That time to do anyhow because say Una get _preek Don pass. These Era olosho dey slaughter billionaires like chicken...that fear e be like say e don dey comot for this generation of women body. After all Agbaya wey expose him big hairy white blockus for small girl hand gats no complain if she set the 'bush' on fire when the _preek 'spit' for her body.

I'm not here to advocate for women who throw the first punch, it's insane to want to fight that kind of battle, but we all know that men usually, more often throw the first punches. You all want a woman who don't nag, who swallow your _bullshiit just so the avoid those punches, you know you just want to get away with being a bully, messing up and expecting the emotional hurt to be swallowed like it's nothing BUT, you can't take half of what you dish if the roles are changed.

Guess what? That time is long gone.
Now women get to _4ck and cheat even better than you do. And you now get to wail and gnash your teeth all over the media. Now you get to open threads lamenting on how we sleep around and why you're gonna opt for being a baby papa as if you still gats to get away with it. Boy, you go Stull hustle bring money for your children and your baby mama go still squeeze some from the money to look good enough to _4ck another man. And if you tlak too much or won get strong head, at your old age when your bones are frail and your _preek looks like the hopeless remains of an overgrilled hotdog, we may get to decide if your children visits you or not.

You guys should stop crying foul, women have been through hell and still trying to manage their lives amidst societal expectations. From being called olosho even if their hustle legit, to being called old hag, then Evening newspapers even to the good ones who's dedicated their lives to their careers, to all manner of demeaning names, yet e no do Una. Make Una rest abeg.

Next complainant please!

People have a choice to believe what they want the very reason I have learned not to comment on threads as this.

Good side is there are many decent females out there.

Generally, I feel many grew up in dysfunctional homes and they try to force the impressions of their upbringing on the innocent ones.
Good point.

People will believe whatever they want. There are lots of faithful spouses/partners regardless of gender all around. However, this generation will tag them prude, boring and then turn around to wail after the interesting and loud ones disappoint them!

It is what it is, to every rule or norm, there'll always be exceptions!

I hope this generation understands this.

Are vulcanizers lesser humans??

Since when did profession define a man?? You're not making valid points, only further proving to us your obvious lack of tact and intellect!

Moreover the message above was for women, so that they'll stop dressing nude while complaining about being objectified. I don't think that message is too hard for you to decode.

According to the UN population division, there are currently 3,822,561,000 females in the world. Common sense should tell you that every female will not be married, either due to their fault or not. It's only in this country that people shame women for being unmarried while same men like you are rooting for MGTOW. So what's the fuss about really??

Someone gets married, fine. Another is unmarried, cool! Life goes on. We really spend unnecessary time and energy on irrelevant things in this part of the world!

Go spend more time on your several pages of TRP thread and slam women all you want there. Leave this beautiful thread alone.

Ciao!
CrimeRe: Tribalistic Comments On NL by apatheticme(f): 12:27pm On May 25, 2021
Abosi31:
Dear Mods,

I’m a regular on NL. I’ve been for few years. But I just realized today that over the last one year, there’s something strange and dangerous - tribalistic comments are always glaring: in EVERY comment section on EVERY post on NL.

Why?

I believe (most) folks here are progressives and mature, who are literate enough to discard ethnic fanaticism and tribalism. It’s painful because it has become a norm on here, and there’s nothing strange about how hurtful and needless insults are thrown on handles based on their ethnic backgrounds - we have gotten used to it and we don’t realize just how deep we are in the pit of tribalism.

Why does Nairaland reek of tribalism? Why are tribalistic and incendiary comments overlooked by mods? How can we make here a less toxic and more intentional space for us all?
NairaIand is a microcosm of the nation!

The recent surge in tribalistic and incendiary comments as you posited simply reflects the current state of the nation!

Never has the country been more divided across ethnic, religious and social cultural lines than this! It therefore would reflect on such a forum as this which is a miniature representation of the country!

May God see us through till this tenure ends in 2023!
