Niseamaka: This topic is about beauty not character, and talking about character, are you married?, are you a saint?, marriages these days are filled to the brim with negative tales, maybe yours is an exception. Must we dwell on problems always, sometimes we`ve to throw problems aside and talk about beautiful and positive issues.I respect your points, but I feel that in championing beauty subtly or directly we inspire people to aspire to it over and above what should truly matter, character. But,hey, freedom of expression in all its variations is allowed. |
qstar: Yes and you created Him, out of your longing and indoctrinations.I plead guilty sir! Thanks. |
lokito: It works wella especially when the arranged damsel is not too exposed...Wow wow wow. So direct, sharp and absolutely apt. You need to comment more o. Well done well done! ![]() |
qstar: He exists and is real only in your mind. Capisce? In my life! ![]() |
alutacontinua: Good points! You ran from a treasure that you could have nurtured? What did you do? ![]() |
Atheists are often very smart people whose high valuation of reason and evidence dictate disbelief. The foremost philosophers from Miletus were sound thinkers but atheists,Thales,Anaximander and Anaximenes. So were the successors of the medieval churchmen thinkers and writers like Neitzche,Camus,Macchiavelli,Hegel,Bacon,Hobbes et al. In our times,Dawking and S.Hwakings,to Sam Harris, christopher Hitchens-the late titan of polemics and reason,Harvard's Niall Ferguson,James Fenton,Ayan Hirsi, politicians like Nick Clegg,Ed Miliband and David Milliband,Steve Fry and the Nigerian answer to Hitchens,Unilag's Douglas Aniele whose Rational Perspectives column in Sunday Vanguard is a temple of reason, are high flying egghead and colossus of knowledge and intelligence. I have read all there is to read about atheism and have,in homage to liberty which I cherish, given some deep thoughts to it,but my experience and all there is in the world tell me that God exists and He is real. |
I believe the Eucharist(Holy communion) is Christ's real body and blood. From my personal experience of its essence and power,Christ is truly embodied in it! Instituted at the last supper and carried on by the early Christian community in Jerusalem. As the Emmaus trip did show,in the 'breaking of bread' is Christ truly experienced. "...whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven, what you untie on earth is untied in heaven".Confession to priests is a sacrament of penance, and it is a valid and scripturally-backed practice. These years I have reduced going to confessions for personal reasons. Purgatory does exist as 2 Maccabees shows. The dead shall rise again on the final day right? At the 2nd coming of Christ right?Where will they be until then? Our prayers can affect the mercy of God for the living and the dead. Nice thread though. |
LyndaRoyce: Hello everybody!Thank you my dear lady. ![]() Don't worry the weekend clouds are fast gathered. Pele. |
cococandy: How funny is that?LOL,don't mind being naughty. Thanks. Hope you are alright. ![]() |
alutacontinua: Na dt kain public own dey pain passI have a friend like that o,and while doing my masters in Leicester I also met some African guy like that. Funnily, they are most loud when around people. Maybe you have some visiting girlfriends or some school mates that respect you,na there the grammar go begin o. Normally I just get cold. Both men and women of such strength(yes na,they sabi speak pass us na) find it difficult to accept corrections easily. I think for a man,in those post-intimate moments just draw his attention to it. He may not like it but still be clear and loving in doing that. Also, you can get them to watch CNN and Fox news with you while you nudgingly guide them to errors using little stories of friends. Share articles with them from Naija newspapers-Thisday and Leadership, even Premium Times, have fine columnists. From reading his expression quality grows. Again, you can always ask him if a particular spoken English of yours is correct every now and then,in that way you build a culture of corrections that makes it easy for you to correct him. ![]() Good luck! |
alutacontinua: Ok, the truth is I ONCE FOUND myself in the situation sometimes ago!How did you deal with it so that we can articulate that as a possible solution to your hypothetical situation?LOL |
ihedinobi2: Finally. So you can say clearly now that you think that there are flaws in my argument. Good. Now the onus is on you to point them out.You have assumed in this reply that only Coogar and you have brought up issues and taken positions on this thread. This highlights a shortsightedness that 'bake' most of your points. Also, you are clearly picking and choosing what to respond to;you sieve out rubrics of essential points to subject to your limited lenses. Very many have contributed to this thread with anecdotes and life stories which some of my responses have been directed at,not your heavily jaundiced and hypocritical rants and chants. I suspect your determination to ridicule with a vesture of rationality will dictate a degeneration of this thread. I won't stoop to replying you anymore. I believe the thread is about shared thoughts and reasoned opinions from reflected hindsight, I am sure those who will find made points useful surely will. We can only wish those who know so much and are determined to be right than learn the very best. ![]() |
alutacontinua: lol...exercise wellI am doing very well. Thanks. |
[quote author=benbuks]exactly the point bruv. , life changing , educative , insightful & nation building topics hardly hit F.p . kept wondering why/ how selections are done , *smh* Yes,just when you think a platform is beginning to evolve into a progressive front of quality ideas and information to be shared it begins to lose its promises to politics. Let's watch on. |
alutacontinua: welcome. My mouth is attempting some exercise to ensure wider opening. ![]() How u dey? |
The comments are directed at whoever the source is. The source is being practical, but the must negates the spirit of love that dictate these things. Marriage no be job na. ![]() |
ihedinobi2: Is your problem the "purism" or "puritanism" of views here or the questions that such views attempt to answer? My problem is with people who champion positions that their life experience and original choices already make mockery of! |
ihedinobi2: Here is the problem in your participation in this discussion. It is that your comments suggest that my arguments lack merit by dint of the fact that they do not accommodate reality. That is an indictment that I must respond to.What an unimpressive attempt to be right than acknowledge the flaws of your arguments. If it is so right for you to push me to repeat points I have made so clearly, why is it wrong for you to repeat the status of your virginity? My position has been clear in all my points that I do believe in test driving wholly and without apologies. I have also been clear in saying that those who are inclemently saying they don't believe in test driving before marriage but who have acknowledged that they have test driven are hypocrites. Why champion a position that your life evidently discredits? More than anything else,I have littered my points with an advice to those who say they don't believe in it that they always will run into serious challenges as the crowd of men who will be interested in them romantically and seriously happy to marry them will insist on test driving. And this insistence does not mean that they don't love them or are not serious about them. Are these elementary points so unclear to a mind so determined to champion a position than understand alternative views? |
Lovely pictures. God bless their life together! |
Adorable beauties but a list of mostly uninspiring characters. I cherish beauty but worship character. And some of those names have not inspired our daughters and sisters with their marital tales. What is beauty without character anyway? ![]() |
yorke1: Are you a card carry member of certain political party in Nigeria?Well, SR is not as anti-GEJ front as some are won't to believe.Come to think of it,what is news?It is the activities of those who are proactive and matter. So,this definition presupposes that the party controlling central power structures will generate more news. SR and PT are quite progressive with their little biases. I am all for progressive and visionary leadership which I believe is lacking at the national, state and LG levels in Nigeria. |
Tattoos are some form of freedom of expression and bodily fashion freedom Yet it is a total no for me. While I may be dismissed as some ill-conservative,the Naija upbringing in me will label it some atom of irresponsibility. ![]() Now,where I come from a woman wearing tattoos is immediately judged a 'no bride' material. I will think it is to the extreme, but I will never date anyone with a conspicuous tattoo. ![]() |
Why exactly is such a trivial thing occuping the front page while more serious issues and thematic concerns are left hiding far into this forum? I hope the moderators can be more reasonable and progressive than this piece suggest they are. |
It is a sad one. Unfortunately,it is too civil a case for the police to be brought in. I hope you are able to send the exact post to Sahara Reporters and Premium Times editors to help us share with a larger audience. This is because while this might appear trivial,it is potentially enough to kill innocent kids. |
Ngokafor: You are so right!...being 'just friends' with the male gender has never worked for me..right from the get-go..Thanks for illustrating my point with your experience. Thanks too for appreciating my points. We can theorize and take purist views on these issues, but the practical voice of reason will insist that the male attitude to the female is coloured with attraction than the 'innocent friendship' we are won't to impose on it. |
ihedinobi2: What exactly is the hypocrisy here?I guess my reply to your other comment speaks to this. To live in denial of the fact that most men will insist on sex before marriage is the hypocrisy. For a start,if you are married can you,I ask trusting your sincerity as a christian, say you married as a virgin? If you are not married, are you a virgin? If the answer to either is no,then how do you reconcile that with your purist views here? |
ihedinobi2: Ah good.I have read your other comments directed at my post too. It is not a persuasion march nor a duel. We can theorize and champion chastity, yet it does not negate a truism that can't be falsified: the young men of today are mostly believers in test driving. And it is this crowd of young men that our girls and sisters are facing and will face. The best we can do is to prepare them with the knowledge that experience and our evaluation of reality dictate:practical knowledge, and pray for grace. That you don't believe in it does not mean many others do not believe in it too. Will you marry your girls or sisters? Have you a control over who they meet in school, church, and what have you? My points are on the psychology of the average male of today, not an indictment of puritan championing. |
DonaldGenes: With whose natural resources is he using to do that?I guess plastic is now petrol and beverages is also crude oil. Faro survives on milk from the real rearers of cattle. Not an Atiku fan though, but I like the fact that he has stayed industrious with all he has been looting since his custom days. |
Any coincidence that the finest minds and most refined contributors on NL chill out here? ![]() Thanks to Aluta-C for guiding me here. I am Emmanuel,an Igala,a lawyer and PhD student in the UK. My moniker is a conjugation of apolonia-that adorable babe and all she represents-in the Godfather movie. My hobbies are reading, sharing on life especially politics, meaning and man-woman relationship, and watching tv. ![]() I am single but in relationship with an angel that is marriage-focused with a date that is a very few months away. ![]() |
alutacontinua: NONSENSE!Real nonsense. What happened to freedom of love and the charity culture that marriage celebrate? 'Must' is not the word, a true couple I will say live for each other and do all they can to make the shared life happy. ![]() |
alutacontinua: thanksBoundaries are crucial to guarding honour. I sure respect that. Of course, will come on there for the drink. I am glad to be back to learn and share with you guys as always.Thanks. ![]() |
alutacontinua: Did you just miss this part tooYou are a clear thinker who also writes beautifully. I totally agree with your points on the benefits of the US passport. It is a goldmine, really. To add to your points, such a kid can enjoy scholarships and even some pay-once-you-are working loans to study in some of the best universities in the world. Accessing quality job opportunities in the capital of global capitalism is assured for life. For those who talk about hustlers in the US,it takes most over 9 years to get the citizenship that such a kid will have from year 1 of his/her life. The security value of such a passport when compared to the hundreds of deaths in a country that does not value life is enough reason to go for it. For sure, the US troops stationed in the US embassy in Nigeria will easily take the responsibility for the safety of such a person even in Nigeria when it matters. AC,I hope you made a gracious consideration for a PM for me. Not just you, some of us don't do shit of all forms too. ![]() |
