PoliticsRe: No Deal With Jonathan Yet –ibb ! by apoti(m): 12:21pm On Feb 23, 2011
wales:
“General Ibrahim Babangida is not a dealer. He has never been a dealer and he does not intend to be one. He is a distinguished elder statesman who is not persuaded by pecuniary benefits but a leader who is genuinely concerned about the development, unity and stability of the country.” The former military president, according to Afegbua subscribes to the principle of collective bargaining as well as constructive engagement in any national interest that must be canvassed. IBB said if he would engage in any dialogue with Jonathan, such must be constructive, adding that the subject matter must really center on the unity of Nigeria and stability of the country, just as he noted further that he was still a member of PDP and would be willing to help the party succeeds once the internal contradictions were sorted out. “It should be understood that the idea being sold out that President Jonathan would serve one term as a precondition for getting the Northern support is non-applicable. By law, if President Goodluck Jonathan gets re-elected, he would be statute-barred from contesting in 2015 having been sworn-in twice. General Ibrahim Babangida remains passionate about one Nigeria and would go to any extent to sustain that ideal.”

For your information Nigerians in diaspora know what is going on in Nigeria more than an average Nigerian in Nigeria: He/she can read all Nigerian papers online about 20 times a day (they have multiple access to the internet-at work, at home), watch NTA daily with NEPA not striking. Again, Jonathan must lose the comming election for Nigeria to progress.
Pls tell them o. sometimes I tell my friends in nigeria about things that are going on and they are surprised cos they've not heard about it.
Most people in Nigeria get full gist about happenings about 2 days after the event.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Jose Mourinho Completes Nine Year Unbeaten In Home Matches, What A Record! by apoti(op): 1:46pm On Feb 21, 2011
This Saturday marked another special anniversary for Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.

It is nine years since one of the four teams he has managed since 2002 - Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real - lost a league match at home.
That record rolled on this weekend with a 2-0 victory over Levante courtesy of first-half goals from Karim Benzema and Ricardo Carvalho.
The last time the self-styled "Special One" experienced a league defeat with a side that he coached was on 23 February, 2002, when Porto were beaten 3-2 by Beira Mar.

Even then, Mourinho could claim extenuating circumstances given his Porto team were down to nine men by the end of the game and played for 65 minutes with less than 11 players.
Jorge Andrade was shown a red card in the 25th minute for a challenge on Beira Mar midfielder Bruno Ribeiro, with Cristiano Rocha's ensuing free-kick putting the visitors 1-0 ahead.

To all the PDP and GEJ supporters, I still can see any reason why I should vote for GEJ/PDP. I have tried to lay both religious and tribal sentiments aside. PDP has ruled for 12 years, thousands of graduates are on d streets with no job, pple are being killed like chickens almost on daily basis, our education system has gone bad. We keep on borrowing and we can't see any meaningful changes. All we see is bad roads, blackouts, insecurity and violence and corruption. We can no longer say Nigeria - the giant of Africa, which used to be the common slogan.

We all need to wake up, we can't just keep going on like this cry cry

blink182, my analysis are accurate based on my knowledge of nigeria.

there is noway jonathan can beat dele momodu in yorubaland. it is impossible. expect by rigging.  look PDP is not a very like party in yorubaland. go and ask anyone. they failed myself.
jonathan picking a fulani/hausa  against a fulani/hausa presidential candidiate shows jonathan is naive.
even in kaduna , in a free and fair election buhari would beat jonathan/sambo in kaduna state/ i am looking at the satellite picture fulani/hausa are 80% of the state. and buhari would win it .

looking at the satellite picture the reoff is going to be between dele momodu and buhari.

you , i am telling you the truth. if i was president, i would give the north oil well and make them a country to avoid a civil war. it is possible to give the north oilwell on the sea; you oil is a gift. they did it in russia.

PoliticsEgypt's Mubarak Transfers Power To Vice President by apoti(op): 10:54pm On Feb 10, 2011
CAIRO (AP) — Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak announced he is handing his powers over to his vice president, Omar Suleiman, and ordered constitutional amendments Thursday. But the move means he retains his title of president and ensures regime control over the reform process, falling short of protester demands.

Protesters in Cairo's central Tahrir Square, hoping he would announce his resignation outright, reacted in fury and disbelief.
Many watched in stunned silence to his speech, slapping their hands to their foreheads in anger and shock, some crying or waving their shoes in the air in a sign of contempt. After he finished, they resumed their chants of "Leave! Leave! Leave!" The crowd in the square had swelled to severals hundred thousand in anticipation of the nighttime address.

"I have seen that it is required to delegate the powers and authorities of the president to the vice president, as dictated in the constitution," Mubarak said near the end of a 15-minute address on state TV. The article is used to transfer powers if the president is unable to carry out his duties "due to any temporary obstacle" and does not mean his resignation.

He said he would stay in the country and that he is "adamant to continue to shoulder my responsibility to protect the constituion and safegaurd the interests of the people , until power is handed over to those elected in September by the people in free and fair elections in which all the guarantees of transparencies will be secured."

Mubarak said that the demands of protesters for democracy are just and legitimate, but he adhered tightly to a framework for reform that Suleiman drew up and that protesters have roundly rejected, fearing it will mean only cosmetic change.
He said he had requested the amendment of five articles of the constitution to loosen the now restrictive conditions on who can run for president, to restore judicial supervision of elections, and to impose term limits on the presidency.

He also annulled a constitutional article that gives the president the right to order a military trial for civilians accused of terrorism. He said that step would "clear the way" for eventually scrapping a hated emergency law that gives police virtually unlimited powers of arrest, but with a major caveat — "once security and stability are restored."
