dotman10: pls can somebody explain to me in a simple terms how to start html page......when i opened my notepad++, the outlook does not look like what we are told that an html page shoul look like. pls i dont seem to understand that part.....pls somebody help me on this
When you open your Notepad ++, the default file extension you're writing in is .txt , so now you save that page with the file extension .html . Until you save that page on the notepad ++ as .html you haven't started writing in html. So please. Do save that page on your notepad ++ first as an html file extension before continuing to add your html syntax and tags.

WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m):
Boy Coy Toy: @appliedmaths pls just explain that JavaScript tin 2 me. Don't even know why am studying
Html is used to input contents to the web page, CSS is used to style the web page, JS is used to make the web page "interactive". By interactive I mean, making the user literally "talk to the web page", so one may ask how do we do this?

1) The alert function in js, makes us programme the page so that necessary and important infos aren't omitted by the user, when the user forgets to perform any task he immediately gets an alert. The alert function has many important uses.

2)We add date and time, with js thus making the web page look real and somehow telling the user that "we aint playing over here".

3)Other functions like event handlers, cookies, changing windows, client side Form validation, etc are very important Js tasks any web developer shouldn't miss or else he/she should just forget about the whole thing.

4)Js is a very important programming language, and has a wide range of use by the developer, that's were "man pass man" comes to play. I use Js to change the color of very important texts whenever the mouse hovers ontop that text, that's just a little simple trick. Js provides us with options to develop our web pages and make us stand out from the average web designer who'll just use html and css to put up a web page and runs away. grin

My guy the list goes on and on. take this tip, make sure you have a note on js and study it gradually like we study our school courses my guy one day e go enter ya head.

Ask iyenimofe those days wey we dey learn html man head wan break that time grin but now I can put up series of web pages with the use of html ,css and parts of js(I nove finish js sha) without breaking a sweat.

Guys endorse this order of arrangement please...

Book cover - Internal content cover - copyright - foreword/Dedication - preface/ acknowledgement/introduction - table of contents/chapters.

The kindle experts should endorse this, and comment if there's any modification to be made. Thanks.

Colynx: So far, I have followed this thread without commenting, but here I will like to say that out of my six books on kindle platform, my spiritual books have sold more than every other book. As at yesterday I have two books ranking 65 and 78 in the prayerbook subniche. I will like to advice you to to look at the bestsellers in the niche you are targeting. click on the image, to preview the book, look at their table of content and the way they wrote their description and cover. Emulate the same. Use a pen name that is not african and I bet like myself your books in the spiritual niche will sell for months.
You have said it all my brother, I'm currently working on three books 1)a christian book 2) and two Fiction to start with. And I also plan of focusing on three other categories as my major. "Go out there and Explore the world, don't be afraid of anything cause in reality you have nothing to lose."

NB: To everyone, Please your research matters a lot , you can spend days doing your research don't be in a haste to upload your books.
EducationRe: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Appliedmaths(m): 12:48am On Nov 26, 2013
Mr Calculus: divide through by ¥x.
¥y/¥x=-[2cos(x+{¥x/2})sin(¥x/2)]/¥x/sinxsin(x+¥x).
¥y/¥x=-cos(x+{¥x/2})sin(¥x/2)/(¥x/2)/sinxsin(x+¥x).
recall::lim x-->0.¥x=0,sin(¥x/2)/(¥x/2)=1,¥y/¥x=dy/dx.
dy/dx=-cos(x+0)/sinxsin(x+0)
dy/dx=-cosx/sin^2x.
dy/dx=-cosx/sinx*1/sinx.
dy/dx=-cotxcosecx
I'm really impressed man, in fact I salute you. When you resume I'm sure you'll dust everyone in your class.
E don tey wey I touch this kind sweet maths, these days na so so theorems and proofs man dey se everyday in maths. huh

iyenimofe: Sorry for the prolonged absence. It was due to some offline problems. We should get back in track tomorrow or so. I just need to get my things together.
We'll round up our CSS and move swiftly to JavaScript.
JS cool Finally, abeg prepare ooo, cuz boys go jam you with questions. Let me even start now... To me there are many useless functions in that js that I feel isn't useful to me. Ex the while loop,for loop, all those jargons. The part of js I do take seriously is the form validation,date and time, changing windows , reg exp, maths function (chio na my name be that nah' grin ), event handlers, cookies etc.

In fact e be like say I don mention the whole js finish. All the same your explanations would do me a lot of good esp on those loop sections,break etc when and what are we using it for? Cause I can't store any yeye syntax in my head which I wouldn't use. Welcome back boss!.
WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m): 10:28pm On Nov 25, 2013
@boy coy, at the beginning don't just expect Js to make any sense at all, sometimes I ask my self what am I going to do with all those yeye functions but just push through taking it step by step.

Since you're not programming then I think you should know the really important aspect of js you need as a web developer. Ex. Date, form validation, changing windows etc so focus on those kind of parts.

@iyenimofe, Boss my faith still dey that's why I'm still here 2/4/7.

mk82: Upload ur books immediately!
Payoneer card's arrival to Nigeria is 1-5 months because of our ancient postal system. All d cards u applied for will still come.
If ur books sell, ur money will accumulate with time n amazon will pay into ur payoneer account.You can then use $60 to order a new card thru DHL (if u can not wait any longer).
That is what I did.
Lol, no body made mention of this part. This is not cool at all. huh So it's best I order the card now just to kill time ahead right.?

mk82: D book cover is a separate file n it is uploaded separately.
Sire, sorry for the beginners question, so do we upload the book cover 1st, then the book contents as follows or vice-versa in the same upload section?

And also, what if we upload 2 books at a time obviously with 2 covers and 2 ms word docs, I think kindle would arrange it properly (hope I'm right)?

Waiting for reply, thanks guys...

WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m): 12:15am On Nov 22, 2013
And to make the image fit the web page to save your self form stress of use

div{background:url(img_flwr.gif);
background-size:100%100%;
background-repeat:no-repeat;}

Bros see you later, *Runs to continue his JS*...
WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m): 12:11am On Nov 22, 2013
body{background:url
(img_flwr.gif);
background-size:80px 60px;
background-repeat:no-repeat;}

You can resize your background image to what you want.
WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m): 11:42pm On Nov 21, 2013
And also you can position the background image, use this

body{background-image:url
('img_tree.png');
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-
position:right top;}

Hope you know how to link a CSS sheet to your HTML file?, It's advisable to alter the background image and color with CSS(my opinion) it's make your codes neat.
WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m): 11:34pm On Nov 21, 2013
Jregz: what i meant was themes and blog background images
already know how to upload images
www.adelowojregz..com
Apply this on your CSS sheet to change the background color

body{background-
color:#b0c4de;}

And also on you CSS sheet for background image.

body
{background-image:url('img_tree.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;}

I used no-repeat because I don't want the inage to repeat it'self continually on the background of our web page.
WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m): 9:23pm On Nov 21, 2013

Arlex: Pls i need u guys ans.do i need to learn web designing b4 i can create my own blog or will reading tru dis thread from page one to dis place guarantee me OF knowing it
The thread isn't complete yet, so even if you read the thread what you'll learn wouldn't be enough for you to build a complete web site. Go and learn how to use Wordpress or joomla to create and manage your blog since that's your major aim.
WebmastersRe: Learn Web Design LIVE On Nairaland!!! by Appliedmaths(m):
@omoelu1, I have one html5 code that validates username, password, and phone num and it's "case sensitive", doesn't accept empty fields, doesn't accept numbers for alphabets. BUT still trying to code the pattern so it can validate email and homepage... No js involved, would keep you POSTED.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 (of 54 pages)
