But just before you do all these please pause a moment to ponder,

What exactly am I about to do?
Am I about to dilute a breed?
What will be the outcome of what am about to do?
How will the resultant puppies look?
Can I adequately defend my actions afterwards?

In our quest to make that buck off our dogs in the name of dog breeding, we should not lose hold of the fact that it behooves on us to turn out the best pups in terms of health, looks, disease-resistance and untainted breed standards. It is a duty!

I learn on a daily basis and i'll stop at nothing to help others...Personally, I like blunt people, I so much appreciate honesty. I detest people trying to nurse my ego or patronize me...When people give their comments about my dogs, I endeavor to improve on my breed standard, i work towards being a better pet owner and breeder...

Every expert today was at some point a newbie. It's better u take to advices rather than try play the victim and attract pity. You calling on the mods doesn't change anything, it won't stop me from speaking my mind anyways, except if you stop posting.

I remember sometimes around July 2005, I went with a friend to UI for a dog walk, all the way from Lag o. It was organized by several handlers and owners alike, wasn't really a registered show like that. We were denied entry just because they thought his dogs were below standard, but meanwhile he bred from one of the best bloodline in lag. I really learnt something that day, I learnt people will never deny success when they see one. This dude left for lag in fury, sold all his dogs, began from the scratch and I tell you today, he is one of the most famous breeders in Nigeria. He took the best out of the humiliation we got that day. Now many years after, those dudes who rejected his dogs consult him anytime they need pups from pure progeny.

There are so many instances like that, but I wouldn't want to bore you with my stories...No one gets an award for talking down on your pet, all we want is a better canine society...My utmost dream is to wake up one day many years later and boast that I was one of those who helped change the canine world...ONE LOVE Y'ALL

I saw this ad on olx for an 8 month old doberman going for 20k. The advert explained that the owner can't take care of the dog anymore. I called the number and the person I spoke to said he is the vet who takes care of the dog. He said the dog is up to date on all the vaccinations just that the owner can't afford to care for it anymore. I'd love to buy the dog but I know I'm not going to be able to take care of it as I have Shadow and 5 cats and I don't know how the dog will react to cats since he wasn't raised with cats like Shadow. Yea true, I've seen people try this on several occasions. Buy a bag of royal canin with a pack of canned food to go with it. Always serve in the morning and in the night. Buy pet milk to go with it, Vit tabs too... Trust me, this works wonders, as ur dog has no other reason not to be aggressive...

Nice write-up bro... But I'll like to spot some errors u made. Yea true, several breeds were the results of repeated mixed-breeding programs, but u shld note that at no point in time were their pup's sold out till the desired traits were met.

How do I explain this? OK, a breeder wanna experiment on cross breeding a rottie and a basenji for example, it's cool... but this requires repeated mating of the offsprings to ensure a standard breed is met. All these takes time. The boerboel wasn't just a product of mating one breed and another, it was a result of repeated mating of the product back into the gene pool. At no point in time were the pups sold out to the general public because it's protected and restricted within the program, please check ur facts.

I frown on cross breeding because it was and still remains the greatest undoing on the canine world. Just like the guy who advertised his mastweillers on the other thread, ask him to snap and post the pictures of the parents. Sure you'll be expecting to see a pure bred rottweiler and a mastiff, but no, all he'll post is an impure rottie with another ekuke breed. He only decide to find a suitable breed to call his pups just to get them sold on time.

An unsuspecting and innocent starter will buy such pup thinking he bought the best. As time goes on, he'll realise he only entered one chance. As a business conscious individual, This person also mates this breed with prolly a boerboel or another related breed and sells to the public. Another person buys and the trend goes on. Now look at it this way, these pups now have several behavioural traits inherited from their progeny. That's when u hear news of a lhasa who tears off a kid's skull. Now u wonder, are lhasas made to be aggressive? not knowing they're the products of people like codeinejunkie and Co...

I've given my piece, let's frown on roadside breeders who wanna make a fortune overnight.

Hello there, by doing so, you'll only end up ruining the pedigree of both breeds. I understand you want pups and dogs of a more respected breed but there are better ways around it. It will only take time but believe me, by this time next year, you'll thank me for it...

A dog comes on heat on the average of 3 times a year, 2 times in some, depending on the fertility of your bitch.

All you need do is mate ur mongrel with a mongrel of equal class. I reckon mongrel pups are sold for 2k or thereabout. If your bitch litters like 2 or 3 different times, you can gather up the cash and get yourself a good breed...That way, no one will criticize your pet and you won't come back here with a mastweiller or corsoweiller. You will be known for breeding nothing but the best.

Always understand that nothing good comes easy, and people tend to appreciate anything good...So bro, work on this...
