I have a 6 months old alsatian myself, he's not pure like the ones they show off here, but we enjoy each others company, which of course is more important to me. I was able to train him to be a pet as well as a security dog.

Firstly, this is a nice prospect I must confess, but be sure you're doing it for the love for them and not for ROI.

Secondly, you're a starter, you shouldn't be after populating your kennel, rather you shld be after quality and the maintenance of standards. You need to consider the risk of transfer of infection. Sure you can't understand what I mean now, but soon you'll get to know the risks involved. It's better you have few dogs with an unquestionable and undisputable purity than having many dogs from impure lineage.

Thirdly, you need to get a whole lot of things right before going large scale. Feeding, medication, time, quarantine measures, etc

Fourthly, I'd advice you get the attention of an expert, one who you can always call on in trouble, someone who has an undivided loyalty for you.

It's always tough losing a pet. To me, it's almost the same as losing a human friend, God forgive me...

Long ago, I lost 4dogs, cried my eyes out, not because of the money involved but because I felt the guilt, more like being a bad father, always blamed myself, like I must have missed it somewhere. At first, one of them died, then another, then another, quarantine was way too late, in all I lost four.

Just recently, I lost castro, it was a black Wednesday, still not over it, no illness, no pains, he just dropped and stopped breathing...

And on one occasion too, I had to kill my lead dog with my own hands, she was named "savage", I loved her and love her still...she was infected with rabbies by bats, we tried saving her, she bit me in the process, I didn't mind. She was in pains, the madness, the affliction in her, the aggressive insanity, I couldn't watch her go through the pains anymore. I had to put her to rest. I still see her in my dreams, I still remember those moments, I still remember how many vet doctors I called but upon hearing its a rabid case, they took to their heels, the pains I went through being injected 7-9 doses of anti rabbies vaccine (rabipur). Each time that picture flashes thru my vision, I feel sick, I feel like a killer. it's been 9 years now.

I wish a moment will come, when there shall be no more deaths in my household, neither illness, nor pains...

I feel your pain...What I ever crave is to hear the thoughts of a dog, my greatest wish.

Anyway for anyone interested in knowing, both dogs are besties now although the boerboel can be a bully at times and always wants to be the first in anything they both do but no fights, lots of plays and they can both be left alone without supervision.

Please remember your dog is due for her first shot today... Do the needful now, na parvo period we dey o... Moreover, several infections comes with the rainy season, see ur vet now!!! My quota.

Bro, please don't try this, that's animal cruelty. Aggression is something that comes naturally and not what you can instill in a day. Your dog studies ur mood, your reaction towards strangers is what determines ur dog's reaction to that particular person. To try this out, try faking a fight with someone in the presence of ur dog and check out his reaction.

Anyways, you can instill aggression in dogs by reducing ur dog's relationship with strangers, try isolate him for a while. Also try teach him some command prompts like "catch", "get", "bark" and the likes.

Please don't forget your pup is due to be administered his first shot of DHL pp, deworm him too, and multivitamin to go with it. Please don't miss this, it's so important, especially the dhlpp. And please find out from the ex-owner if he has been administered anything before u picked, so that he won't end up getting an overdose.
