Since the building is an existing one and also the work to be done is on the third floor,.why not take your guide from the structural drwg and from the builder or contractor that built the structure??...every building is like a story book,.tear out a leave and you can make a good mistake,..so OP,.you have to know the thickness, the span of beams, any dropping beam or hidden beam already existing on the 2nd floor, before any calculation can be done,..when we build, let us believe we build forever,.CJKATAS Consults ltd, Anambra State
