Well, being a Christian involves being humble and modest and no "show off" attitude. Nigerian church members fail hopelessly on these points. why then focus on something as trivial as what a woman wears to church? undecided
In church, all your focus should be on your god and the man talking up on the pulpit. looking left and right to checkout the nearest hottest chic should not be allowed as well.

ps: as my name would imply, I don't go to church either tongue

Johnchike: Trousers can be worn by women. I accept that...but not all trousers. Low-cut trousers can be embarrassing when a lady sits down in church. Some are so tight that all d sexy curves are revealed thus causing distraction. It's better to just avoid them. Wait! Why d complain? You've got 24x7hours= 168hours in a week. All the pastor is saying is that the 3 or 4 hours you spend in His church do not put on trousers. It's that simple. Take it or leave it.
oh for the love of god pizza spare me that sort of talk!!

Are we moving forwards or backward? Just cos it says women should not wear garments for men then people read all sorts of meaning to it today?

Whatever she can wear to work (I mean a professional Job lol, cos i know what you guys are thinking), she should be able to wear to church. trousers no trousers how does that change anything.

Christianity EtcRe: My Theory About The Earth, Heaven And Hell by Areaboy2(m):
Not really.

you see, the same way we cannot prove the non existence of a god, neither can anyone prove existence.

The problem isn't whether we came from the same ancestors as apes, that one is agreed and can be seen easily. It rather is that we came from a chance mix of elements which is more puzzling. Agreeing that evolution occurred puts the god of Abraham in huge doubt since he claims the earth is about 6000 years old.

We cannot be alone in this universe, it is too vast to suggest that. we just don't have a definite proof for that.

why is there something rather than nothing? this question rings about easily without understanding its implication. You can extend that to a supernatural being and question is existence against non existence.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that human beings are not special. We share our world with some amazing creatures that also share a lot with us. Some even have consciousness. That alone makes it difficult to ask "what is the explanation for man's existence in this world?"

Christianity EtcRe: My Theory About The Earth, Heaven And Hell by Areaboy2(m): 10:30am On Aug 23, 2012
Well, first of all the so called multiverse is simply an idea and there is no evidence to confirm that. It originates from the logic of earth -> solar system -> galaxy -> universe -> multiverse? Sounds nice to think about and postulate different possibilities but we can only see 13.7 billion light years in all direction before we hit the opaque extremely hot plasma like region (which is actually remnants of the bang itself).

Now, look at it from another angle. What if we are here by chance and there is really no omniscient, benevolent, omnipotent being or entity to create all this? or our idea of a god is TOTALLY Flawed? shocked

The whole idea of original sin is frankly appalling if you ask me. A so called all powerful god must know the beginning and the end, if so must also know that his creation will fall short of expectations and put in place measures to correct it (Any reasonable engineer will do this). Except this is what he/she/it wanted in the first place so he/she/it can punish and create more angels and demons (by your logic) at the same time. what's the goal here?
Again, he/she/it has a funny way of "answering" prayers and putting priorities straight. A hungry child in a war zone will pray endlessly with no response while someone else prays for promotion in the office and gets it? That's just plain wrong (you can say god knows best here, but if he* created us in his* image and likeness then we have become smarter than him* cos you and I know who we will answer first in that scenario). Well on the other hand we have to ask ourselves, which god is the right one? They cant all be correct right?

So then He sends his Son (who is by the way himself in another manifestation) to come and die for our sins so that he can forgive us of the original sin (and every subsequent sin) that was his fault to start with? Very twisted logic. That who ever believes he was bruised, tortured and murdered for our sins will be saved. Now lets back track here for a second and take a closer look. He came to die for our sins but he knew he will resurrect again after being killed, so what the hell is the point? I think we've all been had here shocked. I'll die for a lot of simple things if I know I'll resurrect after three days lol. Such an easy task for a god to do don't you think? tongue
what's up with all the sacrifice for goodness sake? cant he (or she or it) just wave his (or her or its) magic stick and we r back to normal?

Food for thought:
We are probably here all by ourselves and when we die, that's the end of it. No spirit realm, no soul, no heaven, no hell, no judgement, no 72 virgins. Lets make the best of this tiny speck of time we get to spend here. Enjoy every moment and be happy to be here while showing compassion, Loving, caring, and helping your fellow man/woman. Knowing that our death is the end of everything makes living here on earth worth a million times more.
Now I'm not here to convert anyone from their faith. I used to love preaching atheism any chance I had until I realised something. Religion gives a lot of people hope(although it blinds them), it makes them wake up the next morning and believing things will get better(although it limits their potentials), it gives comfort in times of bereavement (although its a lie we tell ourselves), it forces morality on people (although, anyone who needs religion to be moral is inherently evil). So let them have what they have and lets all live in peace cool

Car TalkRe: Problem: My Reverse Gear Gives A Scary Jerk With A Sound. by Areaboy2(m): 12:07am On Aug 22, 2012
Awwwww. I had basically the same car but the 2005 model. and i'm sure they carry the same engine and gearbox so I can chip in here very well.

After my first gearbox died, (long story how that one died. and It died suddenly with no warning) I replaced it and used the new one for quite a while before it started another round of problems. It was having weird lag(delay) changing from gear 2 - 3 and sometimes not changing at all. then suddenly, the all dreaded flashing " D" light began. this normally comes on to indicate the gearbox is having an issue.

I had it checked and they decided to service something called a solenoid ( I frankly cant remember the name of that stuff but lets go with solenoid for now), 4 of them had to be checked individually and the mechanic didn't notice anything odd.

Long story short, I had to run diagnostics on the car and it indicated a particular "solenoid" (1 out of the 4) as the culprit. Had it replaced and still no luck. Then a guy referred me to someone who could rebuild the gearbox.

4 days and 50k later he completely rebuilt the gear box and then I started noticing that "clicking" sound when engaging reverse gear you complain about in your post. This sound was accompanied by a slight jerk ( I bet not as much as yours), but I managed it that way until I passed the car over to my brother. this was in 2009 and that gearbox is still holding on until now with the same symptoms. not getting worse not getting better lol.

So my Suggestions are as follows:

1) first run a brand new transmission fluid into your gear box and hope it helps. I have a friend where this worked perfectly for him (this is by far the cheapest and better start with this step)
2) Run a diagnostic test. You cant afford to do the guessing game here it will cost so much and you may still end up doing this. so if your mechanic has the tool, all good or else get someone who can do it.
3) Depending on the result from 2 above, you can manage this problem until you can save up for a new gear box. <-- best solution

Ways to manage this problem

1) always have the car at a complete stop before engaging reverse gear.
2) Limit your acceleration ( I know this v6 is not sitting about for anyone, but try to stress it less)
3) Try to maintain your rev at around 2000rpm (or "2" on the dial). this reduces the dynamic stress on the gearbox
4) Don't bother with gear numbers 3, 2, always leave it in D
5) you don't!!! SELL THE CAR tongue

Christianity EtcRe: Is There Any Evidence To Ascertain That Mary Is In Heaven by Areaboy2(m): 12:34pm On Aug 20, 2012
Its amazing how no one picks up the fact that we know almost nothing about Mary.

She is mentioned only a few times in the bible. And what most people know about her is simply that she's d mother of a certain 1st century hippie Jew called Jesus. How everyone then deduces that she must be the holiest person on earth is beyond me.

Think about it, it is funny to pick one "holy" woman out of thousands of women worldwide to enter this world through and then ascend her to heaven based on that alone!! Not fair for the other "holy" women of the time. cos then, it is either they are all in heaven too or no one else is or god himself/herself/itself isnt that "just" afterall.

Except the whole story is hodgepodge (which is my view by the way) undecided

wrong.. Actually it is the fear of hell that makes people wana go to heaven. Hell has been described intricately in the bible but heaven on the other hand only vaguely, yet people ascribe to it because it is "good"

Christianity EtcRe: A Letter To God by Areaboy2(m): 8:21pm On Aug 17, 2012
Somewhere In Abuja,
Today.

Dear Larry Okeke

RE: REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION ON THESE AMBIGUITIES

I am obviously not God but as His humble servant I have taken it upon myself to help you clarify some of the issues you raised in your letter.
First issue is your confusion brought about by religious institutions. Here is His word on that:

As you can see religious institution is not the basis for God’s acceptance.

On the issue of the genesis of mankind there is one universal thread that runs through all accounts including the scientific, there was an external agency to the birth of human kind. What we all differ on is the specifics of that agency and it’s actions. If God was to answer you directly He would say that He made man. This is all that is important that the source of your life is Him.

Ahh, the issue of sex. One of man’s most enticing acts yet the one with the most "caveats" on it. Yes God put that hunger in you and indeed He needs you to use it but here is His “caveats” distilled - control it. Sex is like power and authority, they are designed to be used rightly. Anytime people misuse any of the three bad things happen mostly people get hurt and even die sometimes. Do you want to enjoy sex? Do it the orderly fashion and get married. It is the legal way and the way God does not recognise as sin. Self control is not an impossible task set by a taskmaster, rather it is the training imposed by the Great Coach of the universe.

Understand the purpose of prayer. It is primarily for you to interact with Him not to shout at Him. Your needs are being met on a daily basis. Does God invent food everyday? No He has set in place a system whereby you can get your daily bread. What you do when you pray is seek wisdom as you have said He has more wisdom than can be searched out in a million life times, why deprive yourself of it when He offers to give it to you?

Yes the sacrifice was necessary because the universe He created has certain rules which even He will not violate. The cardinal rule that required this sacrifice was that of justice. You sin/err, you pay. But the whole world had sinned, is sinning and will sin so how does He help all we sinners payback a debt we can’t pay? He provides for Himself the payment in our name. The sacrifice on the cross was cruel because our sins/errors are too numerable to count and that debt must be paid. Now as to the resurrection, that is where mercy comes to play. God is a merciful God you have heard haven’t you? The resurrection is the prefect example of His mercy. Thus is God’s nature satisfied He executes judgement on the sins of the world and He bestows His mercy in one dramatic swoop. It’s quite a drama I know but He is Who He is.

God is never angry at seekers of wisdom be rest assured.

Please accept this reply as the answer of a heart that is just as earnestly seeking as yours.

Yours Sincerely,
His boy known as Lord Reed.
I stopped reading after the bolded section.

Well, just like everything else, the almighty all powerful all knowing all everything god needs men to speak for him, write for him, argue for him, fight for him and even kill for him.
