obyno82:Another question is: Do we have the fund for a protracted war? We should remember Sierria Leone and Liberia. Nigeria practically funds ECOWAS military interventions and they never reimburse us. |
Revolution2022:I am sorry, but you are ignorant. Boko Haram fights nonconventionally. They use civilians as cover. It is hard to fight terrorists or insurgents. |
meobizy:You probably don't know anything about self esteem. You have never heard about very good looking men with low self esteem or ugly men with high self esteem. |
Brendaniel:Check my last post. I said GDP is the best bet for comparing, but that even GDP does not tell the whole story. Statistics is never straightforward because of individual differences. Mr A may perform better in a test than Mr B. But a test does not tell the whole story about intelligence. Take for example, the IQ test. Does it tell the whole story about intelligence? Of course, not. That was why I asked you to tell me why you think OBJ was the best since the return of democracy. You were the one that used a comparative term. My original argument was against people singling OBJ out for praise. |

Like I wrote earlier, even GDP does not tell the whole story. There are individual realities which make it difficult to compare governments. But what I won't take is when people single out OBJ praise. Just like Peter Obi said, our problem is as a result of a cumulative of bad governance. You can't single out OBJ for praise. He laid the foundation for many of the problems we face today. |
Brendaniel:So, in your school, you compare governments using growth in agriculture, industry and service, and not GDP? In fact, how do you even compare governments using factors that are subject to conflicting realities? Under OBJ, oil price was stable and high flying. Yet OBJ averaged 6% GDP growth in 7 years. Under Yar'Adua, the financial market crashed in 2008, and oil price slumped subsequently, yet Yar'Adua still managed to average a GDP growth of 7% in 2 years. And even that does not begin to tell the whole story of OBJ's incompetence. Did you know one of the ways by which Nigeria survived the global financial crisis of 2008? It was by reversing some of the sham privatization programs of OBJ. You went and lifted data that you cannot back up. So, what if agriculture grew under OBJ than under Buhari? The question is, how much of it reflected in export and not in consumption? Do not also forget that insecurity which carried over from PDP's years of mismanagement caused our food production to drop as Boko Haram ravaged Borno (the food basket of the nation). Despite Buhari's many policies, including the free fertilizer programs, farmers lacked the confidence to farm due to insecurity. We all know that Boko Haram appeared on the scene during OBJ, even if they were not physically violent at the time. There is more to a statistics than a screenshot. That was why I asked you to explain the data you shared. If you can't explain your own data, then you have no business using it in your argument. |
People like to say Buhari had bad luck. But D'Tigress won the AfroBasket Cup three consecutive times under Buhari. |

Interprete the data in layperson's terms to me, please. |
Revolution2022:Niger does not even have 1 fighter jet. And their manpower is not even up to a quarter of Nigeria's paramilitary manpower. A total mismatch. |
SpatialKing:Ben Okri won it in 1991. |
Revolution2022:As if Niger has not been battling Boko Haram too. Depletion or not, Niger no reach. The Nigerian Air force will dismantle Niger within a week. |
Brendaniel:How is he the best? Explain, please. |
Brendaniel:What I am saying is that Obasanjo did a bad job. Many Nigerians are fond of singling him out for praise while vilifying others that came after him. It will take many years for any one government to right the wrong of many years of mismanagement. |
Brendaniel:We didn't benefit anything from them. Rather, they destroyed the little gains the military made. They set the direction in which the country has walked in since then. OBJ had only three jobs. 1. Fix electricity. 2. Combat corruption. 3. Repair refineries to maximize gains on crude oil while systematically reducing our dependence on oil. He did nothing. All he did was create a few billionaires while destroying our middle class and impoverishing millions of others. Yar'Adua came. Used 3 years using our money to sustain his failing health abroad. The others (GEJ, Buhari, Tinubu) inherited a messed up economy that was not tailored to survive any slump in oil price. OBJ was in the best position to reposition the country. He had massive goodwill from the international community and from Nigerians many of whom were probably witnessing democracy for the first time. But he failed woefully, unable to address any of our major problems. |
Brendaniel:I hate it when people mention OBJ and Yar'Adua in the list of good leaders. Don't you know that the problems we are facing today are as a result of the foundation that OBJ laid. Imagine that OBJ had fixed electricity, diversified away from oil, and reduced corruption, don't you think he would have set the pace for a better democratic era? Obasanjo did absolutely nothing for 7 years. He did not fix electricity, and even supervised a privatization program that left us without a national carrier up till now. Their inclusion policies on education also destroyed our public universities who have all been falling in standard since then. Who can ever imagine that at a time, OAU was the second best university in Africa. And then massive corruption under OBJ was there for all to see. From the electricity project that gulped millions of dollars and still failed to see the light of day. Up till now, no government has had the time to probe that uninterrupted electricity supply that OBJ promised would begin in December 31 that year. As for Yar'Adua, his only goodwill was reducing pump price without embarking on any sustainable longterm plan of keeping the price low and stable. Just like his predecessor (OBJ), he had no plans for our comatose refineries and yet could not diversify away from oil. All he did was spend all our money on medical tourism abroad. These two ineffectual leaders laid the rotten foundation for our currently struggling democracy. The likes of GEJ and Buhari struggled to make any impacts because of the rotten foundation they inherited from OBJ and Yar'Adua. |
ShadowCommander:Inferiority complex is allowing some people to underrate ECOMOG. Moreover, Nigerian soldiers perform better when on international duties. Now, join that with the forces of ECOWAS member states. |
Putin who has had a coup scare would never support the coupists in Niger. A strong relationship is brewing between Russia and Nigeria, and so Russia would rather support Nigeria against Niger. They have far more to gain from Nigeria than from a landlocked, poverty-stricken country like Niger. |
ColdHunter:They were as dry as fvck!!! |
Chibabe005:But can it be possible for there to be someone who doesn't wipe his ass after using the toilet? Ike looks disorganized, but I believe Mercy exaggerated. |
Lastmankc:It is not even military regime, Nigerian soldiers are doing anyhow. Imagine military regime when a soldier is in power. Many of you asking for military rule were probably born during democracy or in the fading years of military rule. The only reason why it appears like military regime gets things done fast is because the dictator operates with decree, not constitutional law. In a presidential system, the president does not have absolute power. To get many things done, Tinubu needs to get some sort of approval from the National Assembly. Sometimes, he may send a request for 10,000 naira, and the NASS will slash it to 5000 naira. But in military rule, the head of state is extremely powerful. He can make decisions (decrees) without consulting with anyone. That is why decision making is fast under military rule. No constitution, no checks and balances. The head of state can do and undo. |
JUDGEJUDITH:It wouldn't make any sense if he asked. If Biggie made it optional, then no one would pardon anyone. |
Edu93:And K-leg |
Amya:Billionaire ![]() Do you know what a billion is? |
marlow1962:Which evidence do you have? |
I am attracted to her, though. Not the ass. There is something about her. You can't blame Ozo or Prince or maybe a few others who didn't voice out their attraction. Forget the Olosho vibes or the ass. That girl is attractive in a very subtle way. |
Many Nigerians can be funny sha. What do they think BBN is? A family soap opera? This is a game. It is for gamers, not actors or pieces of furniture. Let the General play his game. Even the Cee-C some people are supporting, I don't understand what she is doing in BBN at all. She has no game. She is most time just a piece of furniture. Take the General out of that House, and all you have would be no better than Family Circle soap opera with a bearded cook, some fake booties swinging in your face, and some pieces of furniture. |
marlow1962:You are talking as if Traore won an election. Did he not seize power in a military coup? |
Workch:The administration of Buhari had stated that subsidy on fuel would be removed by June 30, 2023. In January, while campaigning, Obi said he would work with Buhari's plan. He said if elected, subsidy would go immediately. Do you need me to show you receipt? |
Workch:Stop being petty. During the cash scarcity, Obi and Atiku supported the policy. What is the assurance that that things would not be worse if either of them was president now? |
Horus:Fighting a conventional army is much easier than fighting a terrorist group. And this would be an ECOWAS troop, not a single national army. Nigerian soldiers perform better when on international assignment/mission. Together with ECOMOG, the Nigerien Army cannot last for long before they surrender. Moreover, the Nigerien army is beginning to make some unpopular moves. One is banning social media. It won't be long before they lose the support of the populace. |
Depriest2020:The lady won't go free either. In many jurisdictions, aiders/abettors/accessories to a crime are treated the same as the primary offender. |
Horus:You think fighting insurgency is easy? Insurgents don't fight conventional warfare, and the military are not trained in nonconventional warfares, that is why even the US Army struggle against insurgents. Look at Al-Queda. How come it has not been defeated despite the US huge defense budget against terrorism? Hope you know that Boko Haram is the third deadliest terrorist group in the world with funding from ISIS (the second deadliest terrorist group)? |
