I am writting this with annoyance  I took a drive here in Maryland, to look for Nigerian food, I just did not feel like cooking and eating my own Nigerian food and I went to one Nigerian restaurant and I wanted to check the kitchen to be sure that it was not an oyinbo person that cooked it.

Kai it was so bad i just went home and sat on my bed and started day dreaming of all the Buka joints i have been to in Nigeria and how i loved them and miss them so bad( yes i am a Buka Junkie i can't lie)

  Amala Shitta  if you know surulere very well you know there are two hot spots one in the afternoon and one at night.
The one in the afternoon  has some wicked Goat meat and Gbegiri soup.

The evening one was so nice but the wahala was that you will now meet all the guys you have been doing shakara for there to eat the amala then  will turn to trouble you can't lick your fingers well well, because no matter how dark the place was  someone you know will just call your name out in the dark  saying haa i was not sure it was you i was just checking.

Bankolemo rice -Not there new location oh. After the alhaja died her children now took over it is ok but not like in the late 80's it was my dad's spot i learnt from the best you see. The hot rice with beans and Dodo.
Auntie Kemi The price of her rice was like The Hilton  She was located at Tejuosho one of the many gates the one opposite the Lumber yard.
Transformer Amala  haaa before i injure my self let me stop here i beg,  Give me yours so i can day dream.

1-1/4 cups (2-1/2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)

Quaker's Best Oatmeal Cookies.
Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat margarine and sugars until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg; mix well. Add oats and pecan nuts or substitute with rasins mix well(when you add the oats it becomes very thick so mix with a large spoon)

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 to 14minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered.

@Angee4real CONGRATULATIONS may God Almighty keep that baby safe and sound.as far as i know there is no tablet to replace as much folic acid that you need for you and your baby. i know the tablets are big and smell funny but you just have to try. try putting them inside eba or pounded yam and just swallow with soup it is a thin of the mind just don't dwell on the fact that the tablet is inside.

Yes there is a Genotype that is AC and I have it. It is very uncommon the way it was explained by my doctor was i am just a carrier and it does not affect me in any way I don't get sick or have episodes or anything like that .
But when the two mix i have no idea my son i just gave birth to is AC as well and is fine.

Just relax about the swelling i had it so bad i was afraid i will never be able to wear my old shoes again but they went down , on there own .It just comes with pregnancy just drink plenty of water it helps a lot.

Start taking the folic acid Asap like today !! In the early stages you need all the boost to make the baby strong and healthy.
As for foods I eat normally nothing changed but as your pregnancy progresses you will start hating some foods and loving some.
I eat rice 24/7 , beans made me see my maker the heartburn no get part 2.
Just eat lots of fruits, vegetables and drink lots of water.
Try not to stress too much this period take it one day at a time and commit your self unto Gods hands Congratulations once again.

IVF in Nigeria is still uncharted waters people don't want to sink money where they are not sure. And i don't know if they bring out there success rates for the public to view each year but yet again what or who do you compear them with?

@Nwangap welcome to this thread , i know i am not in your shoes, but to be honest try and relax just a little bit not getting pregnant right away or under ten months does not mean there is anything wrong with you. It might just be ovulation timing or it is just not yet happening.
I am saying this because even when people do expensive procedures, that cost almost half a million in Nigeria or other parts of the world ,when it comes's to a child if your body is not ready it is not ready nothing can be done.That happened to me a lot my body tricked me many times into thinking i was pregnant because i kept expecting and was looking for the signs.
just please have faith and try and keep an accurate calender of your ovulation and period.

My Monday update , my baby is doing great crying a little bit at night but he is well.
My self still feeling pain at the incision site can't walk down stairs and finding it difficult to drive, was told to wait some weeks before I can start driving again.

@ Laura yes you can still get pregnant even if you have painful periods.
Have you gone to your doctor to talk about the pain you are feeling? Such pain sometimes is associated with pcos.
Which can sometimes hinder fertility . I would say if your next period is very painful consult your doctor.

My breakthrough as you said came from God I had taken everything you can imagine apart from doing ivf , it was when I stopped all medication including clomid for the first time I got pregnant . This is the short version.
Yes clomid does play with your hormones but it might be the strength she is taking that is too much , is she on 50mg or 100?
I would advice you buy a home kit and test again if she is pregnant.
Or may just be that since she has stopped the clomid her body has gone back to the original state before the clomid.
Was the clomid the only medication that was given for the high prolactin?

Where do I begin? First God i thank you i worship you for without you i am nothing, My husband for staying by my side through this 5 year process of trying to get a child, my ever supportive sister and brother who called me and cried with me when ever i was sad , some FEW friends who where really concerned and my ever lovely TTC family here on Nairaland my baby is hereeee.

My water broke on Saturday after having pains for 2 days, getting there i was not dilated, got admitted 10pm was feeling pains and was able to take it then some hours later  i started knowing what the word LABOUR MEANT.
Ok i am a chicken i asked for epidural,and was ok for a while did not feel much pain but could feel lots of pressure  come sunday 11am  the nurse said oh good you are ready to start pushing, i was so excited but my husband just ran home to get something i said i would not push until my hubby came, he came back like 10 minutes later  we called the doctor he said ok let me check you and said who said you where ready?
I  said the Nurse he said no i am so sorry she is a young nurse you are still 6cm still have 4cm to go which can be hours i almost wanted to curse out the nurse but  i just  held my self.

From 11.30am till 3pm i was just at 7cm then my baby started stressing his heart rate started dropping because he could no longer take all the medication they where giving me.
I started stressing and he started  stressing as well. then my doctor came and said if by 4pm i was not up to 10cm he would do a CS i started crying so did my husband i prayed and said God please let me have this baby naturally without CS, By 4.40 he came again and checked me i was still at 7cm the baby was stressing a lot so they just wheeled me in  and said he would rather deliver a healthy baby to me than a dead baby. i just gave it up to God then and said let his willA be done at 5.29pm sunday my baby boy was born and i can say i am so in love words are not enough.
I am very medicated because of the CS and the drugs seem to be too hard for my body so i am still sleepy will write more when i get my self back on track.
The good lord who did it for me will do it for each and every single one of you that  seek a child  AMEN

I seem to be concerned with this particular problem even though doctors say it shouldn't be a thing of worry to me. We are always advised to babydanced every other days during the peak/ovulation period leaving at least a day for the body to be able to restored lost semen while some will tell you to BD everyday to increase your chance of conceiving. My problem is that I believe I dont produce much qty of semen and it gives a psychological concern. Each time I mention this, the Dr says I should be more concerned with the quality and not quantity. Though I so much believe in that assertion, I still dont feel ok when I assume I dont release much. So what could be done in terms of food/drug/fruit that can aid the production of semen so that even if I BD every other day, I can still expelled much.

The advice you got was the same my husband got about skipping one day to get better quality of semen. And it is not the quantity that matters remember it just one from all the millions , but i can understand your concern.
Once my husband had to do a semen analysis and by the time we took the sample to the clinic, i was boiling with anger because there was almost nothing in the specimen cup, but the count came back very high so since then i never said anything about quantity.
I know Zinc is good my husband took the tablets and it did improve his numbers and stopped drinking carbonated drinks so who knows what really works.
meanwhile i read that the longer a man engages in pre-intimacy before the baby dancing and is really stimulated the better the quality of semen and cough cough the pre-intimacy is for the wife

Thank you for the well wishes , to be a health buff is not easy oh considering the fact that 80 percent of what we eat are Carbs which is the number one killer to any diet.

About the Asherman's i have heard of it but just read about it, it seems really complicated about the uterus lining sticking together, and having pains during your regular period times but not being able to bleed out due to blockages, says it can be caused by trauma or D and C's. it is a lot to read about.

Tuesday update .
Swollen feet too can't wear my old shoes at all they hurt and are really tight . my hip bones hurt so it is difficult to turn from side to side.
Went for my last scan i hope just to make sure the baby is fine and as usual refused to show me his face he used both hands to do me boju boju!
I have seen peoples scans on they see there baby clearly my own it is either he uses one hand and i only see his nose or shows me his back and now nothing!
But i give God the praise he is healthy and fine that is all i can be happy for.

@ General Buhari i read what you wrote and i understand what you are saying but no woman will come up and tell you she is feeling hurt from another persons happiness but we women hurt differently from you guys things about childbirth /pregnancy is a sensitive topic .i have been there so i think i have an idea of what i am saying.I have seen topics on other boards where one woman came and started talking about her new born child and it was meant to be a TTC board the woman was flamed computer style saying she was insensitive and mean etc .

I will still be coming here as regular as I did before getting pregnant, and i know the other ladies who have had babies will do the samei will still share my story ,but aspects of taking care of a baby etc i believe should be moved else where.

How are you doing? I do come here at least 2 times a day but i am not posting simply for the honest reason that it is a TTC board and i feel since i am pregnant i don't want to constantly rub it in the faces of peoples still waiting to get there own pregnancies.
I know it will inspire people but as human beings i think it gets to a stage where it hurts a little bit i know this from experience.I want to share much more than i am sharing presently but just don't want to upset anyone.
I wish someone would take it up that is TTCING and make this active as well with me just chipping in for now. I do not plan on leaving will answer all questions I can but try not to over do it , but if no one steps up to do it i will still be here trying to keep this topic alive.
The main people who have been here seem to have dropped off one by one either by choice or no time.
I plan on starting a new thread in January about after TTC like for mom's to help each other with there new babies health tips teething etc. so we don't keep on blasting the fact some of us have had babies already you guys tell me what you think.

Monday's update feeling ok. I thank God going to my doctor this week to talk about my birth plan , and beg him for an ultrasound.
I feel some pain around my hips but i was told it was normal. Bought everything already just a few things left ,i am getting excited as well as scared but i leave everything in the hands of God.
