Okrika is not at all a suburb of Port Harcourt ,Stop talking rubbish . Okrika is miles away but it's people own significant parts of Port Harcourt including the area referred to as "Town" Kidney Island and Abuloma and other waterside territories where they have fished for centuries. Ikwerres are generally not fishermen and their territory is places like Diobu,Rebisi Ogbunabali etc so do not sit in front of your computer to share Port Harcourt

My submission is that if we want an all igbo biafra. We must make it truly all igbo. We must be irredentist in our approach.

How do we call biafra a new nation when its map will be based on the one drawn in 1967 by the winners of the civil war?

How do we manage ourselves when we dont have the tact to manage the task of reuniting igbo groups in rivers to our selves?

How do we allow minorities like ijaw dictate to us who an igbo in the SS is?

Does it mean if we get biafra any SE group that declares he is not Igbo should be left seceed?

I know many of us are not happy with the ikwerres for their sabotage but politics does not work like that. We must have a clear-cut ideology of what we want. We must develop a broad mindset in our definision on Igbo. The world needs to know that IGBO ETHNIC GROUP WANTS TO SECEDE FROM NIGERIA and not just some angry group of igbos.
If you watch you will see that hausa and yorubas have been posting that there are no igbos in Ss. It is because they know there are igbo there and that we are capable of convincing those igbos in rivers to go with us, bearing in mind that those guys are importan to them. Therefore any attempt at excluding any part of igboland like the op suggested will be a huge victory for Hausas and yorubas. It will cast us in the international community as pple who dont know what they want and even make some people in SE develop cold feet. The truth is that those Igbo groups in rivers state are comfortable with the present structure of the country.

They have have their oil revenue, they are majority in rivers. They have numerical and academic advantage over the riverine people.

Therefore any talk of Biafra puts a sense of fear in them. The fear of being stampeded and outcompeted by mainland Igbos.

The challenge is how to allay these fears. This is where the service of great leaders like late Nnamdi Azikiwe is needed. People who understand the sensibilities of these groups.

Therefore to reach out to them we must make serious concessions like in the area of resource control . We must enter into serious agreement with their leaders and assure them of a stake in biafra. We must convince them that biafra will belong to all. Then you will see them have serious thought about biafran agenda. Going by past experiences.The next step Northerners in power will take to neutralize this Biafran popularity is to meet the leaders of these groups and make more concessions to them (maybe in the area of resource control) but if we do it before them they will take us more serious.

I believe the case of Bonny/Opobo is that of Igbo acculturation. Most of the aboriginal Ijoid people there traded with the Igbos. Since they were ostracised from other Ijoid clans, being islands, it is within logic that they must have seen the Igbo language as a language of commerce, diplomacy and wealth. Much like English is seen in the world today. With the coming of Jaja, it became easier for the then bilinguals to completely change their language to an Igboid one. However, culturally, the people remain Ijaw! Even some of their names are Ijoid and the extant quarters are Ijoid. That is my submission, although not authoritative.

Kanu's plan for Biafra is to enlighten the people of SE and SS about the injustice of nigeria. He does it by unraveling hidden historical truths which northerners use to perpetuate a forced unity. My candid opinion about this is that if people want to go, they should let them go. I do know that this renewed cause is because GEJ lost, otherwise they would have cried this loud in the last 6 years but it doesn't matter.

Can anyone here tell me exactly where the confirmed boundary of Biafra terminates, I am thinking that will only be the issue. The other Igboid groups like Ikwerres, Aniocha, Agbor/Auchi etc. can have a referendum as to whether they want to be part of Biafra or Nigeria.

If the cry for self determination has been around for this long, heck it is time to put it to bed. Nigeria has nothing to lose. The oil wells that seems to be the bone of contention has just about 10years max with the discovery of shale and most of the wells are not even in confirmed Biafraland anyway.
