Regarding this proposed law, I think this is a great development, as it firmly establishes the responsibility for a pregnancy and the child that results from it to be that of both partners. This should encourage men to take more contraceptive responsibility, and will hopefully reduce the number of fatherless children, as well as the burden on the taxpayer (less fatherless children = smaller population).

THEY WERE IN A MARKET! A place "officially designated" for trading!

The sensible question you would or should have asked is: "What is a market doing under a H.T cable"?
Or even better, "Who over-saw an authorized the building of a market, under a H.T. Cable"?

Where else would traders trade, if not in "the market provided for them by their local authorities"?......and they pay the
Govt for these stalls, mind you!

What we have is a systemic failure whereby those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring "public safety and standards" HAVE FAILED IN THEIR DUTY.
If you dont designate a market under H.T. cables, traders wont be under an H.T Cable ...except where they are "illegal road-side hawkers"...an offense in itself.

As l write now, there are houses been built under H.T Cables.....and such Houses paid for, and got building approval, from Govt Civil Servants whose job is to ensure "building rules and standards" are complied with!
Of-course dont ask me if they are turning a blind eye just because 'they feel like', "Egunje" has changed hands.
What are they thinking? CORRUPTION IS OUR BANE!

I don't think that the government allocated this trading space to them. It is more likely that the market has sprawled/expanded to the point where people are now trading under these tension cables.
But even if the government did in fact allocate this (which would be shockingly stupid in itself), would these traders not have the sense to realise for themselves how dangerous it is to be there? Don't they have their own mind? Every person has the responsibility to look after themselves.
Nigerian people have now turned into cattle - they need to be hit with sticks to be driven in the right direction.

I'am very sure that after this incident other traders will take the place of the dead traders under the high tension cables hoping that God will save them from another calamity.

i want to recommend that all the churches in the trouble areas in the north should take charge of their own security since the Nigerian security forces are useless. with that in place, cars driven by strangers should not be allowed to park or come close to the church buildings. they should also watch out for okada drivers.

I would like to propose an analogy to the situation of Nigeria.

Let's say we have two families. Family A and Family B.

Family A's children are wayward, daft and antisocial. Their parents largely leave them to their own devices and do very little active parenting. They frequently get into conflicts with other kids and underachieve at school. Their father is an alcoholic and a womanizer who doesn't spend much time at home. When he does come home, he insults his kids and tells them that they will never amount to anything.

Family B's children, on the other hand, are obedient, intelligent and hard-working. They excel at school and take part in multiple extra-curricular activities. Their parents made sure that their kids could read by the age of four (before they started primary school). Furthermore, the parents take an active, nurturing role in their children's upbringing, supervising them with their homework and making sure that they can come to them with their problems. If they do misbehave, their parents make sure that their kids are reprimanded and punished; conversely, they make sure their children are rewarded for good behaviour. Therefore, these children are both intellectually and psychologically sound.

Family A's father often laments that his children aren't more like those of Family B, stating that he is unlucky to have such useless kids because God didn't bless him with model children such as those of Family B.

Family A can be likened to Nigeria, while Family B can be likened to most countries of the Western world.
