bro please this caregivers job is it available in all states in US? Is it only through Agent one can get it?

Yes, it is available in all the U.S. states. It is a huge industry and one of the industries the government doesn't joke with.

As a fresher, the best bet is to go through an agency.

Find people you know, be humble to them and their hustle, and plead with them to show you the way. If you can hook up with other nationalities that have been in the system for long, you'll be better off with a link.

Bless up.

You don't know where I am. I used UK as an example.

As I said already, I don't discourage people from going out, but they need to know the facts. You can't calculate income only, without calculating tax, rent, transport, phone bills, bin charges, electricity and gas, etc etc.

In some situations, even after doing 2 jobs, some are not able to save 200 dollars or euros a month. This of course depends on where you live and you lifestyle. But alll these facts need to be known by the intended Japa person, before travelling. Telling someone what their income will be is not enough. Tell them everything. Then allow them to decide. That is my main point.

I agree with your submission and I have also done same to give the pros and cons in an encouraging way while allowing the individuals to decide by themselves.

Sir or madam, the cost of your rent depends on your location. In London, the amount you quoted can't get you a room.

You can go live in remote areas. But as an unskilled person, your job opportunities are less or unavailable in remote areas. To live in a remote place, you need a car and be able to drive because public transport is not dependable in remote areas.

I leave you in peace. To each their own

I am not against Japa, but people need all the facts before going.

OP, get your facts before you go. Plan well

As you read further, you'll rind out my discussion is based solely on the U.S.

Una wey dey the U.K sef need to jakpa to the U.S. like for real, no jokes.

And you and your wife are not sleeping in a $500 “small room” share in a house 😊

Lol

Well done.

They need to stop discouraging people from making a move for whatever reasons best known to them.

Just tell people the pros, cons, and how best to navigate the waters without engaging in crime.

Let them know how to prepare themselves and if you are unable to house anyone be upfront about it and don't hide under "it's not easy here" to discourage them.

We all have our paths and destiny in life. That it was tough for Mr A. doesn't mean it must be tough for Mr. B particularly where Mr. A gets selfless and human enough to share the lessons of his experience so as to help Mr. B have an easier navigation. But jealousy and evil mind no go let them.

They always want everyone to suffer like they did...come on.

Yes retirement is subjective but you never specific your definition of retirement, by moving back home. Even at that in 5yrs you cannot secure your retirement to move back to Naija.

You saved 40k in one year? 😊
Let’s dissect this. What state do you live in? Do you work live-in or you go home? How much average is care job paying in that state?

I live and work in New Hampshire.

I respected myself and rented a small room for $500.

I knew what brought me to America, WORK.

I work on average 80 hours (week) at $20 per hour.

Sometimes, I run 24 hour shifts.

I pay $40 for unlimited data and call subscription per month.

Car Insurance $170 per month.

Gas for car $160 per month.

You know how you can eat whatever you can at houses you work at, right? I also do my African food but very limited.

I sew my agbada according to the material wey I get plus my stature.
Oya, help me calculate, sir.

Again read my post again… but let me help clarify here.

You can work care jobs and buy house in Naija within 5yrs if you work live-in and save up on rent. The guy said you can secure your retirement in 5-7urs, common! America is not eldorado now. I for sure know what I’m talking about… unless you win a lottery or do some illegal stuff. You cannot secure a retirement in 5years working care or security jobs and paying bills abeg, especially a 50yr old man that probably have kids back home and send money home steady?

I encourage everybody to travel if you feel it’s the best decision for you, but we don’t have to lie to people about the realities though. We can be truthful about it while encouraging such people. That way they can better plan and they are better informed. That’s not discouraging anyone, it’s getting them informed.

Do you understand that the term "retirement" as used here is subjective and relative?

Your retirement plan could mean waiting for pension at 65 years while another's could mean saving up to $100k in 5-10 years and retiring back to Nigeria to live a very quiet and low-key life in some remote village.

As a caregiver, in my first year, I comfortably saved up $40k. I am talking about me here, now.

Abeg, I don tire for long talks.

Na person dey use him hand decide how e want take arrange himself.

Peace

Absolutely spot on!
I don’t k ow what’s wrong with we Nigerians. Come to the UK and you will see Zimbabweans and Indians doing everything to help their people move over here and settle in but as for Nigerians, their specialty is to discourage their people and are always unwilling to help.
Indians will register an Agency and help loads of their people to move over. Same with Zimbabweans. But our own case is always different! It’s crazy.
For anyone who cares to listen, I’ll always say it, leave Nigeria! Travel and if you don’t have the right skill set, work on yourself to level up while doing minimum wage jobs in the meantime. It will fetch you enough to sustain yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!!!

I don't know how it affects them that other people are trying to make a move for a better life.

The least you can do is let them know it won't be rosy but still way better than their current condition back home and advise them to stay away from committing crimes.

My initial comment was silly to the extent that your brain could function.

Most of you missed it when you traveled and it is understandable to see you guys confused or kinda envious that other people could find it easier than you did with the right information without your nonsense fixation about "skilling up" to be able to earn a living.

Stop the quoting and move on, please.

You got nothing to teach me. I'll encourage anyone that wants to seek a better life to make the move armed with the necessary information and knowledge on how things work to be able to survive.

You'll face depression for several years unless you were brought in by a close family member that's a citizen with good jobs and established. It's worth the trouble but many people don't want their person to pass through all that

You probably watch too much American movie lol to think a 50yrs old man with no high demand job experience and no papers would settle and build his retirement in 5-7yrs.

Stop deceiving people my friend 😂 it’s not that rosy on the other side 😁

Zero skilled jobs making how much ? Naira equivalent 😂😂 but you pay bills in USD abi you don forget ? lol, you people play too much.

Listen, my friend.

I was exactly 40 years and 2 months when I made the move a year plus ago.

The couple that took me in work in the caregiving industry and fixed me up with an agency who gave me a job the next day.

From the lil cash I came in with, I was able to secure a room for.$500 immediately to give the couple some space and to avoid see-finish.

From the day I started the work, it was back-to-back shifts and I got $4,500 car within same month because you need a personal car for the work.

Being already in the industry, it becomes easier to network and look out for other high-paying agencies. In the 4 month, I abandoned my first agency and got another one that pays higher with a fixed minimum of 14 hours per day. Sometimes I run 24 hours,, after all na money I come hustle with no kids to babysit at home.

My passion and dedication earned me loads of good reviews and whatever hours I desired. From there, I branched out to yet another agency that pays even higher with an even posher condition and environment of work.

All these, without any green card oh...I average $5-6k in a month very comfortably, you can go and verifyyy.

Make una stop to dey use una limited knowledge of the workings of things dey discourage people.

Una dey look down on people and their hustle not knowing you guys are learners in the grand scheme of things.

Do you see those Hispanic lawn care guys? Do you think they have work authorizations? Go check how much they make and how they encourage themselves with the grind.

Our own na so so negativity and discouragement.

Must everyone be skilled the way you guys understand "skilling up"?

Okay ooh. Person talk say he doesn't have any technical skills, he possibly has a decent government job in Nigeria he'll be doing manual labour I can assure you of that in Canada/America, he'll end up hating himself for leaving for the "unknown" as his friend put it.

At the end of the day, the choice should be his but nothing wrong in laying it bare with the positives also and not to always painting a picture of doom and gloom when we know it isn't so.

Whoever wants to travel abroad and seat in his room waiting for manna to fall on his lap will wait for a long time.

America is a free land and indeed God's own country where you can be whatever you want to be with the right knowledge and energy put in.

There are a ton of ways to survive legit without any technical skills and still come out good.

Really all thesw care jobs being offered to idiots paying tens of thousands in the UK where have they gone !
There are no surplus care hours anymore they've all been taken up. The only place you'll find a care job with enough hours is in some backwater town where no one wants to go to.

You can dwell on talking about the UK. I do not rate the UK any way more than I do rate any other European country.

In this case specifically, I am referring to the U.S and can beat my chest wholeheartedly to speak on it.

Retire where? In Canada shocked? Back to Nigeria? You are the enemy without realising.. You want a man in his 40s(assumed) to goan start all over again in subzero weather. The man is without I.T, medical, or technical skills or big4 experience.. He would most likely have to do manual work at that age in very cold weather. He wouldn't have so much to save after bills, the culture is going to be shocking to him, he will experience systematic racism.. the only thing he will have better is better health care & more organised system.. but these are not worth the disadvantages!!!!

Your ignorance and a refusal to acknowledge same is legendary.

What is IT, Medical, Technical, or the Big 4 skills you are yapping about?

Must everyone be in the above-saturated fields?

Okay, I'll attempt to school you a bit.

In Canada and the U.S., you do not need any utopian skills to get into the caregiving industry. With a good agency, you are sure of very good hours that can fetch you a good 5-6k per month....scratch that.

What is sub-zero weather and what has that got to do with age, building, and tasting what true life and the essence of it truly is?

What benefit is the Nigerian weather that's not sub-zero?

Sustematic racism don suffer for una mouth.

What is not systematic about the Yoruba man calling the Igbo man a sub-human/citizen, the Igbo man calling the Yoruba man a headhunter, and the Hausa in one corner getting demeaned and made a jest of.

You are calling a closet enemy a friend?

I pity you, bro.

He gets a hard-on from reading about and knowing that he's doing better than you economically and material-wise and all the respect and worship you've been according to him will become a thing of the past.

Most of them hate competition and always revel in the reality of being the ones at the center of all attention.

Even if you are 50 and able to move to the U.S., get serious, work legitimately for the next 5-7 years, and call it a wrap, you will have successfully settled your downlines and created a wonderful retirement plan for yourself with proper planning.

Move, if you can, and with the right plans and connect.

It is good to skill up, but if you ain't got it, you ain't got it and it isn't the beginning and end of life.

There are a ton of zero-skilled jobs where you can make the equivalent of what you currently earn in a month in Nigeria in just a single day..yeah, you heard me right, in a dayyyyy.

*Edited*

For those quoting me to say what they know nothing about or just getting pissed that I might be encouraging people to come compete with them, I no blame una, it is the usual hoarding of information by Nigerians because they want to be the only ones making it and revered in their locality.

In the U.S., every other nationality are united and supportive of themselves with information and intelligence sharing to prosper together. But Nigerians? Neverrrr. Dem go dey buga dey talk from nose...

Come see Haitians, Moroccans, Kenyans, Hispanics, all having agencies and supporting their people with jobs to survive....
