PoliticsRe: Imo Assembly To Impeach Deputy Governor Over N458m Contract Scam by asha80(m): 6:00pm On Mar 08, 2013
obicentlis: He abused the privilege given to him by Rochas, how many governor can assign his deputy that sensitive job just to accommodate him?
Rochas gives 1km inner road contract at 75million(gutter to gutter road) thereby saving around 75million naira which previous govt award at 150million. He doesn't collect kickback from the contractors so that they can complete their work, this deputy Gov cum commissioner for works will compel the contractors to pay him 10% of the contract sum bf he process their papers and payment,if he collects the percentage, their profits are gone thereby abandoning their job. So, who is loosing?
ok i now understand the reason why there were cries about abandonement of road projects.i hope those contractors would go back to site if these issues have been resolved but rochas ought to have known earlier and acted early enough because will only blame him if projects are behind schedule or abandoned.

obicentlis: Jude is a thief, he was the Commissioner for Works where registered over 60 companies within 1month when he was appointed. That guy is the person sabotaging the govt rescue mission in Imo State by collecting percentage of contract awarded to contractors as Deputy Gov and Commissioner for Works. He has made a lot of money from this scam but that's not only limited to him, the chairman house Committee on Works is also involved in this fraud. The later, is representing Ideató south in the state assembly and that's the Gov"s LGA, he built a Hotel within 8months(Eastern Emirate Hotel) from the kick backs from contractors cos Rochas handed over award of road contract to him, Speaker and Deputy Gov.
These guys have made a lot of money from contractors without the Gov's knowledge, now, he has discovered this monumental fraud by the Deputy Gov.
is that the reason the governor has removed the works ministry from jude's watch to someone else i cannot remember his name and the person is now supposed to report directly to the governor?

Pontaboki :
Some people just comment without knowing the correct info.Impeaching the deputy Gov because of false accusations will lead Rochas to nowhere.Back stabbing Owerri Zone people who voted him to power will finish him in 2015.He dare not contemplate of contesting again.
ok nwa owerri what is the correct info?if he did not do it why did the jpros construction head said he agbaso demanded for the money?what also does okorocha have to gain to 'rubbish' the owerri people?

slim fit :
Because there isn't much economic activities going on over there in edo. Building airport without proper plains to fly into it doesn't make much sense. How many industries are there in that state you don't just build airport you need to consider whether its relevant to your people.

Well they have wasted the money well done to the federal government.
i do not think you have ever seen flight schedules in this country to know which airports are busy or not.if not that i am typing from my phone i would have shown you how ignorant you are.
PoliticsRe: Imo Assembly To Impeach Deputy Governor Over N458m Contract Scam by asha80(m): 11:04am On Mar 08, 2013
Maxymilliano: The Imo State House of Assembly has passed a vote of no confidence on the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Jude Agbaso, necessitating the commencement of an impeachment move against him.

The vote of no confidence, it was gathered, was based on an allegation that Agbaso received the sum of N458 million as gratification from one of the major contractors in the state, Messrs JPROS International Nigeria Limited.

The gratification, according to the lawmakers, allegedly led to the abandonment of some road projects in the state.

Rising from a long sitting Thursday, the assembly during a committee of the whole, deliberated on the report of the adhoc committee instituted to investigate the cause of the stoppage and abandonment of work on the Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu municipalities.

Following the investigation, it was discovered that the contractor abandoned the projects due to the fact that Agbaso allegedly demanded and received financial gratification from the contractor to the tune of N458 million.

According to the report, it was disclosed that the sum of N458 million being the gratification sum demanded by the deputy governor was paid in two instalments to the two accounts provided by the Agbaso in favour of the account No. 0045630151 with GTBank and another account No. 1015334698 with United Bank for Africa (UBA).

The report further stated that during the interrogation of the two principal persons before the committee, the Chairman of JBROS, Mr. Joseph Dina, said:
“He said you (deputy governor) gave him (Dina) account numbers via your telephone number directing him to pay a total sum of N458 million to those accounts. And that he actually paid it in February 2012 on the receipt of N1.035 billion, the sum of N325 million in favour of Three Brothers Concepts Limited account No. 0045630151 with GTBank and another N133 million paid in June to IHSAN BDC Limited in account No.1015334698 with UBA Plc.”

Based on the committee’s findings, the assembly adopted same as, “that a vote of no confidence be passed on the deputy governor for acts unbecoming of his person and office; that the Head of Service should immediately commence disciplinary action in accordance with civil service rules against the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Mr. Alex Nlebedum; Director of Planning, Research and Statistics and Resident Engineer attached to the contract for criminal negligence in the performance of their duties and report to the assembly within 14 days; and that the state and local governments of the state should blacklist Messrs JPROS International Nigeria Limited from doing business with them in future after completion of the existing contracts.”

The assembly also directed the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to take measures to ensure immediate recovery of the sum of N200 million being over payment to Messrs JPROS International Nigeria Limited on the said contract.
guy where is the link to the story?he should be prosecuted if it true.i wonder how martins agbaso would feel about this.
PoliticsRe: Fashola And Rochas Okorocha Visit Ladipo Market. Pics.. by asha80(m): 10:28am On Mar 08, 2013
Unknown Member: Peter Obi is not an eye service Governor.

If Lagos State Governor shut down the market in Lagos because of environmental hazards, why then should Obi go and beg. Let the Marketers clean up their mess and should Fashola refuse to re-open the market after the Marketers have met his demands, then the need for Gov. Obi to mediate would arise.

All Rochas is doing is what we call eye service. Another chance to appear to Ndi Igbo as a savior/caring governor. His State is rottening away and he is busy concerning himself with Lagos State affairs.

If he wants to impress me, let him Open up a big market in Imo State and ask all the Marketers at Ladipo to relocate there for free.

Again, this is another classic eye service move from Rochas. We are not decieved.

P.S: Why did you refer to me as Okija Juju?! huh
your writting pattern is a dead give away to answer your last sentence.
PoliticsRe: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by asha80(m): 6:00pm On Mar 07, 2013
AjanleKoko: I think I agree with this.
Education in the modern sense is overstated. You don't really learn any skills, you only learn lots of theories, and very few are actually going to serve you in real life.

Every time you watch a program like BBC's Master Mind, it always amazes me that the contestants are not physicists or PhD holders. Some of them are in vocations so pedestrian that we look down on them in Nigeria. You'd see a pastry cook come on TV and reel out facts about the Stuarts, or the Medici family, or recite tomes from Shakespeare.

Some time back, the World Bank or one of these developmental agencies advised that Nigeria needs to scale back on tertiary education and focus on vocational education, as that would better serve an undeveloped nation. We cried foul and put it down to Western Imperialism. Nowadays I tend to agree. There is a huge gap in vocational education, such that Chinese are importing laborers into Nigeria.

Truth be told, a lot of people like the OP with their fancy MBAs from Lord Knows where might have been better served with vocational education. Especially when you look at the cost of getting these degrees from the West. Heck, they don't even let us stay to work in those countries. It's probably because they don't need those skills that you paid millions to come and study. So why should you expect a job to be waiting back home?
all what you wrote here reminds me of the first 50 pages of a book i just read titled 'the economics of development and planning' written by one m.l.jhingan.

Now go through this thread opened by an Akwa-Ibomite and understand the importance of local content.

www.nairaland.com/1212506/gov-godswill-akpabio-akwa-ibom

I'm not against Akpabio one bit but I only said Rochas should also concentrate on human development and agriculture rather than just road construction and beautification like Akpabio.
human development or human'empowerment' via contracts?guy our people should learn enterpreneuship instead of waiting for white collar jobs.

Biafra rep: You asked for my verdict and I gave it but it appears you are sitting on the fence! So what is your honest view on Gov Rochas?
to be honest the reports i keep getting are divergent.funnily the divergent views are at extreme ends and can be so confusing as to which one to believe.i have not been to the state since i left in 2009 so the image i have in my head are still images of 2009.so at times i wonder at any time discussions about his perfomance or not whether i am listening to a imo pdp psychophant, okorocha pscyshophant, someone angry about the 10000 job he lost when rochas cancelled it or a neutral that has nothing at stake giving an honest opinion.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Is A Failure - PDP by asha80(m): 4:58pm On Mar 05, 2013
Abagworo: @bolded. I'm so in support of you. A lot more is still undone but anyone saying Rochas has not done anything is only peddling falsehood. Owerri is actually the finest city in the East if all parameters are put into consideration. Orlu by the end of this year could also be among the most developed cities in the East. So when one counts Aba, Onitsha, Enugu and Owerri, Orlu comes next. That alone is a legacy achievement. To build a new city is not a day's job. I've not been to Mbaise and Okigwe but I have information of infrastructural miracles going on in those places as well.

However that is not enough as more is needed from him and not merely road construction and beautification. Akwa-Ibom for example is wallowing in poverty despite the huge allocations and massive road constructions. There are no cars to use the roads and no modern houses to adorn the new layouts. No money for residents to pay for flight in the new airport and low turn out of tourists.
if the citizens of akwa ibom are complaining that they not have money to buy cars or take flights then they have to get enterpreuneural.what do you want the akwa ibom state govt to do?share money for the massess?have you wondered whether those guys from onitsha or from aba need you to share money for them or build infratsructure for them?

drnoel: Oh! Really, if u have something to say please say it, I've got nothing to hide. I don't like the man Rochas cos I happen to know and believe he is a snake (without sentiments, but then he won't have made the kind of money he did if he wasn't) but I strongly believe when someone has done and is still doing a good job. He should be praised for the one he has done so far, and encouraged for the ones he is about to do. That's my policy and that's why I made my statement (controversial as it may seem to u). If u doubt go to IMO state, his projects so far in the state are in danger of turning me into a believer.
i actually wrote that because i remember you once writing that his projects were stalled and have remained on the same level for a long time.you were actually replying to one Lord Naya's post.

funnily enough a lot of the spenders in these joints in and around owerri are not based there.the come from ph,aba, onitsha and even from lag here.some friends i know here in lagos you hear things like 'nna make i go owerri go flex'during weekends.that is why joints and hospitality centres around the town are danm too much(much to my annoyance to be honest) but then again since there is market for it why not.since the guys running these outfits are raking in lots of money(most weekends you might be stranded if you do not book a room in advance in any hotel and you do not live or know anyone in the town) i might as well think of opening mine later called 'asha guest house'.you heard it here first.

We have identified one pissed off Ladipo trader here o!! shocked shocked shocked

LoL.. grin

Dude,

Keep calm, Eat Ugba.. grin

First of all sir.. I never said Ladipo traders should recycle their own waste. NEVER!!

Secondly I never absolved the Lagos State Government of any blames as well.. NEVER!!

However, all I am I'm saying is simply 'Because a government dosent clear your waste does not make it alright for you to live inside your own filth'. Only mad men behave like that!

We all pay our taxes Atleast I do, but I still handle my waste management myself. Infact, my landlord factored it into my rent. Now should the landlord default, I will take on the responsibility whilst calling the landlords attention to his negligence. Thats what grown up, sane people do.

Nwokem, stop venting jor! Come lets go to Ibari Ogwa and eat point & kill with Nkwu enu.. The demand for neatness in that market is ultimately for the benefit of the traders. A clean market increases productivity and attracts clients.

Was only able to get the headlamp of G-wagon from Lagos. Even the Coscharis in Port Harcourt had to wait for parts from Lagos.
