PM News, Lagos
The Special Fraud Unit, SFU, Force CID, Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria, has declared the Managing Director of Spring Bank Plc, Mrs. Ayodele Olushola wanted over an alleged N5.208 billion fraud in the bank.

P.M.NEWS authoritatively gathered that the MD was declared wanted following her failure to report at the SFU after an arraignment notice had been served on her twice.

The arraignment notice to take her and others to court over the alleged N5.2 billion fraud in the bank was first served on 12 August, 2010, while the second one was served on her and others on 31 August, 2010.

A source at the SFU told P.M.NEWS that their investigation revealed that on getting wind of her arraignment before a law court over the alleged fraud, Mrs. Olushola fled to the United States of America.

“Our visits to her office and residence revealed that the woman has travelled out. We learnt she travelled on the night of the day we served her the notice of arraignment,” the source disclosed.

The notice of arraignment served Mrs. Olushola read in part: “This is to notify you that criminal charges have been filed against you, Mrs. Ayodele Olushola by the Federal Ministry of Justice, and this unit is to arraign you in court to answer to the charges against you…”

The Spring Bank MD, who was named as an accessory to the N5.2 billion fraud in the bank which involved the National Sports Lottery Plc and Strand Capital Partners Ltd, was charged to court along with Michael Ajamah, Lanre Odunlami, Awele Nwaboshi, Gladys Okebelama and Olubukola Moradeyo.

It was further learnt the five-count charge slammed on the accused in case No. FHC/L/284/10 charged to the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos is being prosecuted by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Dele Adesina & Co. and Legal Resources Alliance.

The charges include conspiracy to steal, obtaining by false pretence, forgery and accessory after fact of stealing.

The Spring Bank MD and her company were particularly charged with accessory after fact of stealing of the sum of N5.2 billion being the property of Strand Capital Partners Ltd, thereby committing an offence contrary to section 519 and punishable under the Criminal Code, laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The case, which was first mentioned on 5 August, 2010, but was adjourned till 7 October, 2010 as neither the suspects nor their lawyers were in court.

The court has, however, mandated the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, to produce the suspects for arraignment on the next adjourned date, 7 October, 2010.

Mrs. Olushola was one of the seven managing directors appointed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on 2 October, 2009 to replace the sacked ones.

She replaced Charles Ojo in Spring Bank.

This question has been bordering my mind for sometime you know.

The question is our style of education(never mind the poor quality) is meant to churn out crammers or thinkers?

Another issue is is our kind of education meant for the peculiar nature of nigeria or is it just a vestige of colonialism which was meant to churn out workers for colonialist or as it is not foreign countries?

They can still be classified as one language. It's also useful to note that some languages are being replaced by languages that have a high amount of people who prefer it like Hausa and Kanuri.
It is inevitable that those languages will be swallowed.most of them now only speak hausa and do not understand and have any idea how to speak their language.

The official census of Nigeria puts the Igbo population (rounding up the 5 Igbo states) at 24 million, and some people are even contesting this. From my own estimate, I would say the population of Alaigbo is around 35 million, and oversees Igbo are around maybe 1-3 million, that's obviously without people of Igbo descent through slavery.

I agree with you, but I think if there was an Igbo State/Province, Nnewi is important enough to have it's own division because of it's industry, I know you didn't say it wasn't but I'm just stating.
I actually know nnewi is important enough to have its own division.just wanted to clarify something with onlytruth.

Ermm for the population in igboland.Don't you think it is a bit exaggrating pointing to 35million?35 milla no be beans o.However sometimes i actually wonder how thickly populated is igboland compared to the landspace huh it is mind boggling undecided
Culture › Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by asha80(m): 11:51pm On Sep 10, 2010
By the way i have noticed that those from anambra axis always refer to towns while 'others' refer to villages and clans.why huh

So how logical is the "group" thing? Let's have towns then. There is no town called Idemili. undecided

If we do this by towns, then, in Anambra state, only Onicha can generate more internal revenue than Nnewi, even today. cool And that will likely change as the industries in Nnewi finally take shape.
Actually i am talking about generating revenue to take care of its self.Like nnewi generating generating revenue to take care of nnewi.

i know i might be mixing up things.
Culture › Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by asha80(m): 11:16pm On Sep 10, 2010
Onlytruth:
You are wrong.

I'm not looking at it from the perspective of residence. I'm looking at it from indigeneship angle, which is what "groups" represent undecided. You need to visit Onitsha and Nnewi on a Christmas day to understand. If we are talking about the population of indigenes, Nnewi is bigger. We are looking at groups, eg, Idemili has many towns: Obosi, Alor, Nkpor, Ogidi, Abatete, Nnobi, etc.
Nnewi (Anaedo) has many towns too: Nnewi, Orifite, Ozubulu, ukpor, Amichi, Ezinifite, Ichi, etc. These are all Nnewi group.

Onitsha is very small really.
Even if we do this by town only counting indigenes only, Nnewi is bigger in population than Onitsha.
The same flaw applies to all the other groups listed before.
I see there is really a lot of ignorance about Nnewi on this thread. It seems as if industry and commerce has overshadowed everything else about Nnewi.
guy wetin else you wan make we know  grin
If we must do this by town, then so be it, and all residents would then count. If we do same by "groups": Onicha (Ado), Nnewi (Anaedo), then so be it too. Don't mix things.  undecided
i am talking about residennce not indegenship.if it is indegenship yes i agree that nnewi is larger.however if you talk about residence then that is where i disagree.

i am more interested in place of residence because a good number of those nnewi people that come home during christmas stay in places like lagos, onicha,ph,aba, kano etc.the thing here is if there was supposed to be a an igbo country where internally generated revenue (tax likely) is important a lot of those guys might likely not contribute to the development of nnewi unless voluntary donation(not reliable).

Onicha is really small. I grew up there so I know.
nnewi is geographically bigger than onicha but population wise i totally disagree.

The map is awesome!

Now that the thread is no longer in politics section, I can say these:

Only thing I don't understand is where Nnewi falls into. I know that Nnewi (or Anaedo) is bigger than some groups represented on this map, and you cannot subsume it under Idemili or Onicha. The tail does not wag the dog. It is bigger than Onicha. Anaedo is made up of at least 4 towns. If you add those towns in the south , it goes up to about 10 towns. So Nnewi or Anaedo should be delineated.
Population wise huh

ezeagu:
The map is rough.

To complete the divisions, each province should have divisions called wards like in Monaco and Japan so that smaller groups can have their own little autonomy. So for example there can be an Nnewi ward or Ibeku ward, Ikwerre ward, etc, these would be the final major divisions before town/villages and districts.

No one will be kicked out of nowhere, there's no plan for a 100% Igbo country, just a 100% Igbo cultured country. People all over the world have to conform to the countries that they are in, and it should be no different with Alaigbo. I can bet you the majority of Igbo people would vote a non-Igbo even in their country as Prime-Minister, etc., as long as they have the peoples interest at heart. Bonny and Opobo have as their founders Igbo people, so that should be considered when people start claiming. Opobo has reached out to the Igbo and they have close relationships with Igbo groups especially in Imo. Port Harcourt was created for Enugwu and was positioned on the edge of Alaigbo, so I don't know why anyone else should claim it. The map is still rough and it's just a start so anything can change, although the divisions aren't solely based on dialect, but considers geography and interconnection as well.
Ermm when did this one happen just asking undecided
Politics › Re: Unfinished Greatness Of Awolowo by asha80(m): 2:04am On Sep 09, 2010
You are free to waste your resources if you want to contest outside your region. For a people to vote for a foreigner, that foreigner must make the indigenes feel he is a part of them. He must also make them feel that he is a better candidate than indigenous candidates and that he will serve their interests better than anyone else.

If I was from Oyo state and Akala was competing against Donald Duke, I will not think twice about voting for Donald Duke. I hope you get the point I am making now. At the time Zik wanted to be premier, there were numerous Yoruba candidates who were just as educated and qualified as Zik.
Guy relax  grin

ok there were numerous yoruba candidates. Were they angry than Zik was contesting?Did Zik armtwist, threaten anyone one of them not to contest?were some of them not even campaining votes for him?

As for the bolded if someone makes the cut should he not campain for votes?is the onus not on the electorate not to vote for him or her?

Well i am following the arguments in this thread. I think i have answered your questions anyways. And please, Lagos Yoruba is different from other Yoruba dialects. Even if he wanted to rule over Yoruba's will he understand our very respectful nature? Will he recognize the powers of the Aalafin? Will he understand our festivals and rites? i dont think so. Its not possiple abeg, we cannot let someone come and throw our centuries old traditions into the air. All in the name of civilization and ziks made up words.lol. He simply was not fit to rule the whole western region, sorry.

You think i am interested if he won or not?maybe you have not noticed but many igbos do not take zik seriously or even highly.the way u guys see obasanho is the way a lot of igbos see zik.

what i am intersted in this issue of 'you are not from this region you are not supposed to contest mentality'.

Am I missing something? Is a Hausa man barred from competing in Ogun or is an Igbo woman barred from competing in Gombe?
Then what are we arguing? Is it that the person should not contest because he is supposedly not from that region or he should not win which dependes on the votes cast by the people?

clearify?

Had to the mix the constant boasting from Igbo sons such as Onlytruth, Mekus, and EzeUche about Igbo people buying up Lagos. There are many Lagos sons who frequent this forum and are getting riled at such comments. That will certainly get their tails up against any moves being made in the future by Igbo sons with regards to political positions.

but in the end it is suppoed to be people vote that will count abi?if that person is voted for massively nko?i know that elections in the country are rubbish anyway but the onus is for peole not to vote the person.the Galloway eg you are giving is because he was voted in abi or no be so?it does not mean that you are not allowed to contest?

a castillan can contest election in basque area if he was born and brought up there but will likely not win but is does not mean he will not try to contest.

First 'northern' and 'southern'.he then introduced 'eastern'.i will not be suprised to hear him introduce 'western','south western','south earstern','south southern' just to make a point.

In fact i began to see his comments as a bit commical when he included people from ebonyi as dominating.Ebonyi people dominating  huh.In fact anyone who has been with ebonyi people, person and the ebonyi state will realize that ebonyi people are even more laid back than his 'southern groups' he has in mind
