congrats to the young guy

But leaving Nigeria as many of you said is the wrong Idea, the time will come when great minds are appreciated and Nigeria will start manufacturing cars, creating new jobs for others. I simply dont know how SOME people reason, I guess its that stupid mentality to leave and prosper individually while leaving his homeland. undecided

We should wish him to be the owner of the first Nigerian company in to manufacture GOOD cars in ALL of Africa. Not to leave and work for the interest of foreigners.

SMH
As if wishing him is enough. My man if wishes were enough we would have probably have thousands of people owning MADE IN NIGERIA style products by now.I cannot count the no of people while growing up that were wizards of some sort in their own thing.

I stand by my former assertion that he should leave the country to a place were he will be appreciated not remaining here where he will be derided and made fun of.

Travel › Re: Are Nigerians Abroad Really Better off Than Their Home Based Counterparts? by asha80(m): 1:01pm On Sep 16, 2009
When talking about nigerians in nigeria i hope we also include street hawkers, almajiris, ajegunle or iyani ipaja like dwellers, those living in creeks in niger delta area, nigerians that see average of 4hrs of candle per day, those that trek up to 500 meters to get water, omo niles, area boys, those that live on less than a dollar per day, those that have permanent home under bridge.

dayo1401:
i guess this post might interest you just as it does to me, but honestly i am beginning to wonder if its makes any sense to travel abroad in the guise of looking for greener pasture, or if, those that have gone are truly better than we here,
well, as you all know there is a mad rush for visa, and that has been going on for a while, the visa process is rigorous, expensive cos you have to tender a statement of account and at the end of the day after getting the visa and all of that, they go for year, between 5 to 10 years, and basically nothing to show for it, that their nigerian counterpart here cannot achieve in nigeria
while over there, they shout, bills , and bills, and they have little to send home, schooling over there is ridiculusoly expensive, most people dont even venture into it, some that do, might be lucky, to get a job, but even at that, i dont see them beating a nigerian here with a good job home,
well honestly, i feel its only people with no hopes, in nigerian that should run to another man's land, i mean, no hope, ie, no qualification, nothing, because at the end of the day, it usually tougher than they anticipated,
just my personal view share your view, your friends, family member, neighbour, that were of the same level with you, that travel, five year, 10 years later are the really better than you,
i want to here your view fellow NL
When you say schooling is expensive are talking about primary or secondary?I do not know about US but in UK these are almost free especially public ones.If you are talking about tertiary then you might have a point but if you have money i am sure you definitely will want your ward to go to university in UK or US.

and like kellorah said basic necessities of life matters a lot. Most nigerians in these countries will definitely want to relocate back to nigeria if the basic necessities of life are available.

As for the line that ONLY PEOPLE WITHOUT HOPE IN NIGERIA RUN TO OTHER LANDS you lied and failed because i personally believe that the brightest and sharpest brains that are nigerians do not leave in nigeria these days unless you can prove me right.

My own take is there seems to be a line that is not crossed in corruption in western and even asian societies. This line i am talking about has to do with NOT EMBEZZLING money meant developmental purposes like roads, power generation equipments, security, schools, housing, health, transportation and generally basic necessities of life.

HOWEVER IN NIGERIA there seems to be no line not to be overstepped.

MrPrsdent:
There is mounting evidence that the government of Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar'adua is set to launch a full-scale offensive in the Niger Delta when a ceasefire declared by rebels ends on Sep. 15.

And this time, Nigerian military forces will be using special warships, helicopter gunships and troop transports, and unmanned drone intelligence planes and ships sold to Nigeria by Israeli, Malaysian, Singaporean, Dutch and Russian companies.

Politics › Certificate Scandal Latest: Customs Boss Dikko Goes Beserk, Burns Newspapers by asha80(op): 7:08pm On Sep 12, 2009
Nigeria’s newly-appointed Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, or is it Muhammadu Dikko?

This is the question many are trying to answer as further stunning revelations pertaining to his identity have continued to surface.  His birth certificate bears "Muhammadu Dikko," and the date of birth appears to have been tampered with.

And this is the background to the man’s outbreak of temper today in Abuja, where he ordered his subordinates to brutalize newspaper distributors that dared to republish the expose by Saharareporters, and burnt thousands of copies of the paper.

According to a 50-item sworn affidavit by his former protege, Mr. Olajide Oyewole Ibrahim, Mr. Dikko’s entire academic school certificates were allegedly forged, but the atrocious scam has remained covered up by his relatives, Yar'Adua and his wife, Turai.

A statement signed by Olajide lawyer, Festus Keyamo, states:

"Today, Friday, September 11, 2009, the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Inde Dikko ordered the seizure of 2000 (Two Thousand) copies of vol.1, No.9 of “The Premier Tabloid”, an Ibadan-based newspaper, with the caption: “DikkoGate: How Customs boss forged his way to the Top”.

The raid took place near customs headquarters in Zone 3, Abuja.

The newspaper agent, Mr. Oluwatosin Testimony, was arrested by Customs officers on the orders of Alhaji Dikko and taken to the Customs Security Post at Zone 3 Headquarters where he was detained for hours. All the seized copies were later brought out to the open and set ablaze.

The story that Alhaji Dikko is so desperate to kill is the allegation by his former boy, Mr. Olajide Oyewole Ibrahim, that almost all the certificates of the Customs boss were forged for him by the boy. Instead of Alhaji Dikko to respond by publishing his certificates (if he has one at all) he has resorted to this stone-age tactics that cannot save his job. If Dikko feels that a crime has been committed by the vendors circulating newspapers containing a story on him, he can report to the Nigerian Police, but cannot resort to self help to vent his spleen.

I once again call on the President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to save the Customs Service and Nigerians this national embarrassment by ordering the immediate probe of these grave allegations and not to continue to play the ostrich on this matter."

Sources told Saharareporters that since the scandal broke, Mr. Dikko has been buying newspaper editors off the story and to ignore the scandal.  He has also embarked on propaganda and tried to appear capable and efficient at his new job.

Saharareporters officially requested Mr. Dikko to send copies of his certificates for verification with the institutions he claimed to have attended.  Instead, he sent a bunch of names, email addresses and mobile phone numbers of persons who can attest to his sojourn in Bulgaria, where he had claimed he received a Masters degree in Economics in 1985.Dikko's doctored Birth Certificate

Na wah for you Debosky. Thanks for the correction on Fischer-Tropsche. But apart from the spelling, you are totally wrong. Fischer-Tropsche process has been in existence since the 60s. One form of it's recent revival is in Bio-fuels. However, the Russian process that I described is the most efficient and the next wave in technology of refining. As a matter of fact, I spoke with one of the key people involved yesterday who has visited the the test plant in Russia (St Petersburg), and plans on setting up a test plant somewhere in the Niger-Delta soon.

This is not a coal to fuel plant, but a Gas to Liquid (GTL) plant. St. Petersburg being a military research headquarters of Russia cannot be accessed easily and it takes at least 3 months to get papers to authorize a visit there. Hence the need for a test plant in Nigeria. Gas, through this process can be converted to Petroleum products including diesel, aviation fuel and pms. These are the refined products as well as water H2O that are the end products of this process. Therefore, you will also get clean consumable water as well. Do your homework and read on it.

The reference to Coal was to ascertain that wherever there is coal, there is also methane, in case you have no knowledge of that. Methane is what is converted into fuels and water in this case. Furthermore, you are a blatant idiot who only knows enough to be dangerous to himself.
Then i guess Enugu has a large amount of menthane deposit.

If the South tries to secede now, there will be mass starvation if the North refuses to send Agriculture produce to the South. And of course you know that all the Southern owned properties in Abuja will be seized, when Abuja becomes Arewa capital city. Shipping lanes will also become closed if he North strategically places a few mines around the lanes leading to Oil facilities. Considering that Angola is a safer location to source oil, you might as well forget the Oil industry of the south helping to raise funds.

What I am saying here is that Nigeria has become a Nation that has all our collective interests intertwined. Our energies need to be focused on resolving issues and differences instead of the senseless noise about secession. It will definitely be a losing proposition for the South with the exception of Lagos which will remain non-aligned. lol.

I just cannot understand how these people spreading secessionist propaganda can even catch a following. They are obviously clueless about logistics an the planning it takes to attempt such a move. Northerners are about the most humble of Nigerians and they are also very focused and come to concessions amongst each other faster than Southerners can muster. We in the South are always blinded with selfish interests and hardly see further than the tips of our noses with our current crop of leaders. It is to every Nigerian's advantage to intermarry and make sure that we don't end up hating each other. This only serves the present crop of politicians.

The miseries that the average Nigerian suffers transcends tribal affiliation.
Your post here cotradicts what you said earlier.

Here is something for Nigerians to think about. All the hoolaboolala about The North needing Niger Delta is about to become history. And I am here being the first to lay claim that the North will be the first secessionist area to get out of Nigeria. I'll explain why, Have you ever heard of the Trope-Fische process? have you heard about the large amounts of Coal deposits being discovered in the North? Are you aware that with Coal comes Natural gas? Are you also aware that natural gas can be turned into petrol and diesel easily today? Why do you think nobody is building regular refineries in the world anymore? Do you know that the refinery necessary for what I described costs about 1/6th of a regular refinery to produce the same amount of refined products that are even cleaner and more efficient than traditional methods?

While the South is busy making all that nise about "oyel", the North is quietly importing their drilling rigs and negotiating licenses with the Russians to build the trope-fische refineries. Y'all will be taken by surprise when they declare independence and blow up every oil infrastructure in the south, right after they complete the pipeline that will send their gas more efficiently and cheaper to Europe. We Southerners are nothing but a bunch of hot-air blowers. By the way, When the pipeline is completed, Southerners will have to negotiate with the North and pay transport fees to even allow gas to go through the North. And you know what else? Gas is the future and not many people will be interested in dirty crude anymore in about a decade with this trope-fisch process gaining ground. How's all that for a wake-up call?

Are you trying to say the south should secede now?
