My Brother, many Northerners are no longer investing in Southern Nigeria, and many that I know personally are selling assets like Real Estate that they own in the South. I think Becomerich has infected man, and don't be too sure that Nigeria will remain as it is in 2015 as predicted by CIA. In a way, with the impunity that Yar'Adua is nominating only his people without regards for federal character, it may be a sign of a last looting spree.

I call Fela a Yoruba Artist cos he was of Yoruba origin.

Get over it.

As for 9ce, 85% of his album was spoken in Yoruba. A good amount of Dbanj's songs are in Yoruba as well. Yes they are just pop stars compared to Sunny Ade and such but they're still of Yoruba origin.

and you're being repetitive with your Dargin comment, no one replied cos no one cares.
Yes even sasha, dare art alade do yoruba music because they are of yoruba origin afoanu grin

i went to a wonderful femi kuti/ sunny ade concert a couple weeks back. of course it was packed with white people. i talked with many of them and asked if they know osadebe, rex lawson, sonny okosun. they didn't know. but they asked me about lagbaja and babatunde.

this always seems to be the case. i remember seeing some white people at a 9ja wedding. bride was yoruba and groom was igbo. when DJ played sunny ade and fela, oh the white people were dancing, or trying to.

but they left when osadebe and oriental brothers was played. even with contemporary nigerian hip hop/ r&b. why is this?
Did you see where the poster wrote this? What makes tou think Dbanj,Psquare and 9ice are not among. huh

You say P-Square is probably more popular due to speaking English more in their music (that didnt stop 9ce from being nominated to sing for Mandela's concert but I digress) yet the OP states that people outside seem to know Yoruba artist like Sunny Ade, Fela, people who speak more of their language in their songs than English.

If indeed they are very popular (it wasnt that big a deal when they came to the states compared to Dbanj, Tuface, 9ce or even Yinka Ayefele), it's most likely cos they perform live more?
Poster said yoruba music and not yoruba artist.Fela never really did yoruba music.

Dbanj and even 9ice do not do yoruba music per say especially Dbanj.I will not be suprised if some one says Dagrin does yoruba music.

why Asaba people?
Civil War Genocides
The genocide of Anioma by Gen. Murtala Mohammed and Major Gen. Ibrahim Haruna (Retd), during the Nigerian-Biafran War started on the 21 of September, 1967 on the recapture of Benin City from the Biafrans sweeping Asaba, Ogwashi-Uku, Ibusa, Otutu and Ishiagu, Igbodo, Aboh and Ushisha communities but the massacres carried out in Asaba remains the most severe and unforgettable in which mostly helpless women, youths and children were killed in vapidity by the federal troops.

Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Retd) the then Head of State would later apologise to the Igbo community, while Major-General Ibrahim Haruna, the General officer Commanding (GOC) Two Division of the Army during the Civil War while testifying at the Human Rights Violations Investigation Commission Panel aka Oputa Panel held in 2004, insistently maintained that he had no regret for the Asaba massacres in which the Igbo were killed by his troops since it was motivated by sense of duty to protect the unity of the country, he stated this under cross examination by Ohanaeze Ndiigbo group.

The multi-billion naira factory being built in Enugu to manufacture tyres and tubes and Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited, a new auto assembly plant scheduled to start producing a wide range of commercial vehicles in Nnewi, Anambra State, have been described as investments that will contribute towards the realization of the Federal Government’s goal of a vibrant economy in the next II years.

A team of auto experts from the Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) which visited General Tyres & Tubes Limited, Enugu, and the new auto plant recently, observed that the plants represent the most remarkable development in the sub-sector in many years, and appealed to government to give incentives to the factories and others like them, to be able to succeed in the country’s harsh industrial environment.

Commending the investments, the Executive Director of NAMA, Mr. Arthur Madueke, who was among the visitors, said it takes a lot of courage, vision and foresight for an entrepreneur to venture into such multi-billion naira projects at a time manufacturers are groaning or going out of business.

He described Chief Innocent Chukwuma, the man behind the two projects, as a visionary industrialist with a lot of ideas, recalling how he used his motorcycle plant in Nnewi (Innoson Nigeria Limited) to bring down the prices of new bikes and made tokunbo (imported second-hand) unattractive in the market.
Madueke, therefore, concluded that a similar impact on the vehicles and tyres/tubes markets is not impossible with the new factories,

“But for Innoson Nigeria, tokunbo motorcycles would still have been dominating the motorcycles market. He did it before with motorcycles. All things being equal, he can still do it with cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycle tyres and tubes. That is why we are calling for incentives and favourable and conssistent policies by government.

The factory which will have the capacity to meet the motorcycle tyre and tube needs of the country when operating optimally, is being build at the Emene industrial area of Enugu. The plant is expected to commence production before the end of this year.
Occupying a space of about 42,000 square metres and expected to cost about N4billion, General Tyres & Tubes Limited, will produce for motorcycles of different brands and models, including modern and high-technology tyres and tubes.

Welcoming the delegation, the Chairman of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, said about 80 percent of the machinery needed to be installed before the factory begins production had already been brought in while the rest would be arriving soon.
Chukwuma explained that the equipment were yet to be installed because the Chinese technical experts who have the know-how were yet to be granted permit by the relevant authorities to come to Nigeria for the assignment.

“We implore the Federal Government to give General Tyres & Tubes adequate encouragement , not just by installation of production facilities at the factory are granted permits to come to Nigeria, but in many other ways that will create the right condition for manufacturing”, Chukwuma stated.
He said the expatriates were very vital for the take-of of production, hinting that the Chinese are expected to also transfer technological knowledge to Nigerians in the factory.
With Chief Chukwuma while conducting the visitors round the General Tyre and Tube factory site were the Managing Director , Sunday Ezeobiora; the General Manager, Joe Ugwu; and Admin/Legal Adviser, Phylis Unigwe.

I think music thats appreciated are those that bring out the beauties of your culture. I like Nigga Raw and That Akanchawa woman though I dont understand a word of their music.

People of other cultures would be curious about the song that brings out your individuality. How odd would it sound to see a Chinese rapper.
Nigga raw does not do igbo music. What he does is urban stlye music with igbo lyrics.

People find it difficult to differenciate ethnic music and ethnic musicians.I will not be suprised if someone says Dagrin does yoruba music.

@Mr. Ellyptical,

Go to Ladipo, ASPamda/trade fair, Balogun, Kano ,Ibadan,Kaduna and Abuja and conduct a referendum.
We should look for permanent solutions to the issues you have raised.

Your brothers in those places I have mentioned will throw you out, if you dare mention your mission. By the way
our problem is bad leadership and a docile citizenry. Some are docile in exchange for government looking the other way as they smuggle, bribe and forge their way through the ports with their tokunboh fridge, cars , and counterfeit products and fake drugs. Others as they default on taxes and break all laws. Others rig elections and connive with bank managers in insider dealings and unsecured loans. THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

We need to enforce all laws and avoid breaking them by creating an alert and law abiding society where government is made to be accountable and the only way you can do that is to be law abiding in the first instance and additionally protest nad not tolerate any wrong either by government, governed or any political instituion for that amatter.

This is the way out. What makes you think others have no grievances against your people? Nigerians have for so long been subjected to the low taste and greed of others by way of fake drugs, products, tokunboh everything , armed robbery, 419 , low political culture (anything goes) and currently kidnapping, all in the name of business and trading.
Bundle of contradiction. If nigerians have been subjected by 'lowlifes' why make noise when the 'lowlifes' they want.

A member of the Nigerian Islamist sect behind a deadly uprising in July has confessed to receiving military training in Afghanistan, police say.
The member of the sect known locally as Boko Haram and Taliban said he was paid $500 to do the training and promised $35,000 (£22,000) on his return.
And they say Boko Haram has no sponsors undecided $500 for training and $35,000 promised. No wonder Yusuf was killed without getting to the bottom of the whole affair. Thanks Maxisiollun.
