The Jews expect a political leader or messiah that will save the people of Israel (Jews) and restore them to their highest glory as a people above every other nation.

For we Christians the Messiah has already come. The core Christian belief is that, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, sinful humans can be reconciled to God and thereby are offered salvation and the promise of eternal life in heaven (not on earth).

I put not on earth in bracket because one of the greatest illness that protestantism has brought into Christianity is that salvation is proven here on earth, thus a good Christian should be blessed with cars, land, money. PROSPERITY! PROSPERITY! Yes... Prosperity preaching has taken heaven away from Christians idea of salvation and now they only look for it here on earth.

What we are looking for as Christians is eternal life in heaven even if we here on earth in poverty, persecution, oppression and victims of hatred.

That's why in the 4th century, when Arius began to spit shit about Jesus not being God but just human, it created a conflict and the bishops were called up to discuss on the issue. As defenders of the faith, they condemned Arius and reconfirmed an old apostolic teaching that Jesus is co-substantial with we he Father, making Him true God from true God. Years later they confirmed the same about the Holy Spirit, saying that with the Father and the Son, He (Holy Spirit) is adored and glorified.

So my chief.... Conflicts of interpretations and opinions are normal. What makes the strength of the church is the ability to come forward and condemn any ill teaching.

I don't know what church you attend, but if a member begins to teach that fornication isn't a sin (which some churches are already teaching oh), and people are agreeing, the elders of your church will come together and condemn such teaching immediately and spread the outcome to all.

If the Catholic Church is flawed as you said, then Christianity is flawed. Because Catholic Church is the first and only church whose founder is Jesus himself. That's why it's the first church. Others are found by men who said God commanded them.
