Is there any country that is worse than Romania in Europe? Maybe Albania, so Keep on feeling sorry for yourself, having made the wrong choice. You should throw away your Nigerian passport and become a Gypsy, I guess that should be better! 8 Likes 1 Share |
Crime / Re: A Man Caught Stealing A Generator In IMO State (pics) by ATERI(m): 5:29pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
Many years of heartless leadership have taken away the humanity of our people. They say it`s easy to recommend fasting when your own stomach is full. Can the hungry ones rationalize the right way, especially when they have no idea where the next meal would come from? We shouldn`t attempt answering that question since most of us have not been there before. And to now think that some people want to burn a fellow human being, for stealing a generator that may not be in working order, simply takes that inhumanity to the extreme. The same youths would sing the praises of Saraki and Dariye whenever they appear in their neighbourhoods, but be ready to murder the victims of their leadership. Once ordinary citizens know that there is no security, all bets are off. Those trying to ditch out jungle justice shouldn`t be blamed, we should blame the leaders that leave them with that choice. Law enforcement agents are poorly paid and poorly resourced making bribery and corruption endemic in the police force. The victims of crime know that a thief can easily bribe his/her way out of arrest. That simply means that whoever steals from you today is likely to come back tomorrow, so why not prevent that by killing the thief or robber. This scenario would repeat itself in any poorly-led society, not peculiar to the black race. A very sad state of affairs! |

This would have received the necessary coverage were the terrorists not using the weapons bought from America and the UK. As long as it is Saudi Arabia that is master-minding the terrorism against the Yemeni civilians, the sanctimonious West and their media would remain mute. Nice that hypocrisy is not yet an Olympic sport! |

cococandy: You don`t want to see my point because you are in America. The idea that you guys can be engaging in this argument is telling me what propaganda is doing to you. The mundane task of going from A to B by your own car is now becoming a suicide mission and you are calling that an ideal environment. Can you please tell me how many times Nigerians have killed criminals in the streets this year? Is lynching a norm in Nigeria? How many times have it happened in your own area this year, in case you are in touch with Nigeria? Which states in Nigeria and which politicians encourage jungle justice? Am I right in saying that over 90% of criminals in Nigeria are prosecuted through the court system? Honestly, the more you argue this, the less my respect for you. When you call yourself a developed nation, you have to live up to certain standards, the most important of which is the security of life and property, nothing is ever more important than that. Then there is the hype of America being God`s own country and other flamboyant rubbish like that. So you are now saying I should be mad at Nigeria, that is incapable of providing security for armed robbers, but ignore worse barbarism in a developed nation or start singing God bless America when a totally innocent black man is murdered for no reason, right? What is going on in America would meet the Geneva definition of war crime even in a war situation. A situation where a motorist is stopped and the next thing is execution. Can you give me the name of any other developed nation in the world that executes her own citizens like this? Man in the street should not execute but those paid to protect can is your argument, right? When these police officers kill, do you have the statistics of how many of them are prosecuted? Please give me a break, America is no Norway or the Netherlands! |

banmee: And yet another black man shot dead in North Carolina. Nice that it is not your turn yet. Each and every black murdered in this way left home telling their loved ones that they would be back soon. But your clumsy reasoning means that it`s far better for police to execute innocent blacks than for lawless yobs to kill a thief recklessly James Byrd Jr was picked up from the street and tied to the back of a truck in Texas. White racists then drove the truck for another hour as he was begging for mercy. Three white men continued to drive the truck until James Byrd was shredded. This was 1998 and that is the American society that you live in and still have the audacity to talk about impunity in Nigeria. The violence against innocent blacks continue till today, with your so-called police officers doing worse than civilian racists. Since you and I started this chit-chat, 2 innocent black men had been murdered. Please, spare me your boring repetition. " Crime happens everywhere", my foot! Bye and try to stay safe in your violent jungle! |

banmee: I know we are all frustrated about the state of our nation, but I refuse to accept that Nigerians are more unruly, disorderly and criminal than others. I read through this thread to be sure of what you are saying. And, trust me, I`m talking of here and now You seem to believe that mob justice only happens when Nigerians kill an accused in Makoko, but corps in America shot blacks to death anyhow without any justice for the bereaved. If you shot dead my teenage son on his way to super-market and the police that shot him goes scot-free, am I going to feel better than that teenage son lynched in Nigeria for stealing mobile phone in Lagos? Or a case of 5 white youths running after a black or Pole in London, butchering him to death ( Stephen Lawrence in 1993, Arkadiusz Jozwik in 2016 ). In what way is this worse than the situation in Nigeria, in view of the fact that racism in Metropolitan Police often stands in the way of speedy prosecution and resolution? Then there is the question of how to punish a murderer. EU says don`t kill the killer, would this be acceptable as a good form of justice in America, for instance? Neo-Nazi set fire to the house of a Turkish family in Germany in 1993, killing 5 members of the same family. Justice for them was sending the killers to maximum of 15 years in jail, meaning they are likely to get out in less than ten years. I can`t remember the details of the case in 1996 in the same Germany when 10 people were killed and no single person was prosecuted. Today, from Sweden to Germany, Greece to Slovenia far-right groups are setting fire to refugee centres and getting away with it. Refugees are no criminal, yet they are killed recklessly all over Europe as we speak. There is absolutely nothing in Nigeria that makes us more abnormal. Societies are imperfect, it is just the degree of imperfection that varies. I repeat: mob justice is mob justice- it simply means you are getting away with murder. No difference to me whether it`s done by Washington police officer or a Berlin neo-Nazi. Most crimes are punished in Nigeria through the judicial system, that is the most important commonality with the rest of the world. |

We need to remind ourselves of two fundamentals: 1. No nation can develop/progress without a good President 2. Remove the welfare system and the ban on polygamy that are some of the features of most developed nations, and all of them would become chaotic in a couple of years. In other words, ban reckless polygamy and introduce the welfare system in Nigeria coupled with a good president and see what we become in few years` time. As far as this topic is concerned, let us concentrate on our first generation leaders and compare them with the people that took over from them- that is, compare the Awos and Ziks with the Obasanjos and Babangidas. You can`t aspire to what you are ignorant of, so the interpretations of governance by these two generations were different because of difference in exposure. Of course, not every individual that goes abroad would be a good leader, but you can`t be a very good leader unless you know what works and what doesn`t. through practical experience. An Awo in power would never have given in to the IMF when IBB did It`s also wrong to think that a Governor in Nigeria has any power. No, the power of a Governor, and his/her ability to perform, depend on what the President allows. The constitution doesn`t say that, but that is the reality. So you need to kow-tow to President Obasanjo before you can do well as a Governor. And, if you are not in President Obasanjo`s party, then forget it. I heard one of their generation say that. This is what you will not get from an Awo or Zik because of their exposure. An exposed President would respect the concept of the separation of powers and the need for checks and balances; the Obasanjos saw that as an insult. Those at home need those abroad and vice versa. The fact is, one has what the other doesn`t, so we must work collaboratively! |

uzolexis: You are right, but I always leave the dead alone since they can`t do any harm anymore, hence the absence of Abacha. GEJ was imposed on us by Obasanjo and other circumstances. But most importantly, he gave us what no leader has ever given us before, namely losing a general election as an incumbent and accepting defeat; every Nigerian owes him our gratitude. It`s actually one of the reasons why I`m not writing Buhari off. For instance, can Buhari do a Jonathan when he is defeated in a presidential election? If he did, then all would be forgiven. Ordinarily, losing an election and conceding should not be a big deal, but our past suggests otherwise Well, what do you want me to say about Tinubu? A couple of months ago he loaded his friends and family on to a plane to go and celebrate his son`s wedding in Europe. Some of his followers have been describing him as their new Awo. Anyway, to every original there is always a counterfeit. The only consolation is that he won`t be president of Nigeria, all other things being equal. No, we would be doing a great injustice to the people under discussion here, should we start to see Saraki as being in their league. Saraki is just a congenital armed robber that is using politics as a cover. Saraki`s purpose in life is fraud and a fraudster he shall forever remain. |
