Its amazing how Nigerians will embrace their slave mentality until thy kingdom come.
Do you people have the capacity for critical thinking at all?

Being the Ooni of Ife makes you the custodian of the yoruba culture, faith and history. His vow is to protect the culture that was once pillaged by christianity, his mission is to defend our people who were once enslaved by christian invaders, his purpose is to promote our language, our customs our food...

When he adopts a foreign God, he is no longer qualified to occupy his post. let someone else who understand this occupy the throne...Period...

I pray that my people will one day use their brains for the purpose for which it was intended.

To Think and discard your Colonial mentality.

Enforced discipline will have a hard time in a democratic setting of post 2015 Nigeria. Its easier now if nurtured, not forced on people. As you can see what the corruption fight and militancy raid has resulted in; more trouble for you eventho u meant good initially.

My mentor wanted the general back in 2015, but I told him what he expects is not gonna be easy now. It will work well in a military setting, like we had in him and Murtala.
Just like choosing between trump and hillary. Diplomacy rules the world now, especially a complex country as ours. Or else you mess things up.
I hope we never make this mistake again; of using a 1983 idea to lead a 2016 generation.

The point I was making has to do with the difference between Buhari of the 80s and the Buhari of today. There is no single Nigerian that would view our political history objectively and conclude that any past leaders of Nigeria did better than Buhari of the 80s. Not a single one! Buhari governed Nigeria in the 80s impeccably. But the Buhari of today has made it difficult for Nigerians to remember the Buhari of the 80s. The Buhari we have today is getting the basics wrong, that has nothing to do with this being a democracy or not. Not just good enough!
The problem with Nigerians is that, we are all guilty of what we accuse others of.
When Obasanjo became President in 1999, he wanted to impress the Yorubas, having betrayed them over the years. Obasanjo`s appointments favoured Yorubas and Igbos more than the Northerners, that was the reason why the North threw Sharia at him. So Buhari`s lopsided appointments today should not be blown out of proportion. Goodluck Jonathan did the same, so why not Buhari?
My problem with Buhari today ranges from hypocrisy ( his children are schooling abroad while asking us to look inward ) to lack of empathy ( refusing to give 5k to the unemployed ), not forgetting his total dullness when it comes to representing Nigeria and Nigerians abroad. If he had got these right, I would be the first to defend his economic record and tell those that are not happy about it to jump into the sea!

My contribution could have been different if I had seen this last year, but straight to the point:

Please spend more time getting to know yourself, because there are still people that make it in Nigeria without going abroad. If you can save that much in Nigeria doing a salaried job, then I think you can be great in Nigeria once you make up your mind. If you still want to go abroad, let it be anywhere but United Kingdom. Good luck

From 1960 until today, there is no single administration that can be considered to be better than the first coming of Buhari. Muritala Mohammed came close but was only in power for 6 months. Both Gowon and Obasanjo as military leaders ruled Nigeria when money was no issue. Buhari governed Nigeria for less than 2 years after the civilians have totally destroyed the psyche of the nation. Buhari took over and gave Nigeria a commendable sense of direction and financial discipline. That was what the Nigeria of that time demanded and Buhari gave us that. Have you forgotten War Against Indiscipline? Have you forgotten regular update on the state of the nation? Have you forgotten counter-trade? His number two was accused of not smiling, he replied that he smiled whenever he was about to collect his salary; there was financial discipline.
Human rights abuses? you bet! Nepotism and tribalism? Absolutely! Truth is, Nigerians were ready to forgive that because a larger goal was at stake. The common man was happy but the powerful felt offended, because of their inability to steal under his leadership. Please, we shouldn`t re-write history by viewing the past through the jaundiced lenses of today. Newswatch was a credible magazine until Dele Giwa was murdered, not after!

The man on the street does not belong on the street. He belongs in the places the elites occupy. Fashola keeps seeing you outside the streets but you are determined to keep people there. Visualize the future without the eyes of a peasant, You peasant! He is telling the UK that they benefited more when Nigeria was a priority trading partner and they still stand to benefit more. Now China has taken their place as our biggest trading partner. He is saying that We have infrastructural challenges as a third world nation but they too are not faring better compared to their first world colleagues. We need to return to how we were. That's a Nigga with some balls and clarity. But you want to eat and wear clothes and not plan for the future just like the f.u.cking peasant you are. Think like the bourgeoisie and not like a foot soldier whose only concern is the next meal. Think like Fashola, think like Tinubu, think like Buhari; think like a king. Go and reread the post.

The man on the street is the Nigerian that is employed but can`t feed his family, is the female receptionist that can`t get her hair done without subsidy from her boyfriend, is the clerk that calls in sick because he can`t afford transport fare to work. So the man on the street is not just the graduate that has not been able to find work since graduating five years ago, or the homeless adult that begs on your way to work. If you blame the latter for their misfortune, what do you say about the former? The weakness of Fashola that people are talking about is his lack of empathy, that is why you would demolish people`s home without any consideration for their fate afterwards. That is why he would try to talk peasants out of their lands in order to please Dangote the billionaire. In a nutshell, he is a leader for millionaires not a leader for million have-nots; the type of leader that blames the poor for their poverty. The speech he gave has been described as fantastic, because it was; but that shouldn`t stop people from discussing his shotcomings as a leader, should it?

Talking of the man on the street, Mr. BRF, I remember in Lagos you never did too well remembering the man on the street. For example, you built affordable houses but not cheap houses in which the man on the street could hardly afford.

You people don't have love for the man on the street, you are just interested in what he has to offer which is tax (the few pennies he had left to sustain himself).

You have put your finger on his weakness. He can minimize it by surrounding himself with advisers that care. Problem is, you can`t teach human kindness, you either have it or you don`t!

One question is how can you be protesting this when you accept it on daily basis in your own country? That does not make any sense.

How can America be defending her citizens abroad when the police forces in America are killing them daily and authorities are doing next to nothing? What is criminality and who defines what is criminal? But let`s leave America alone.

Majority of our people would be ready to hand over criminals to the police, so only the minority would behave in such an appalling way. Now the most important question is whether mob justice can happen where there is good leadership. Well, the answer is, it can`t. Good leadership would know that the police have to be well-paid and well resourced before they can fight crime. And once that happens, police would not have to collect bribe from potential criminals in order to survive. So once people know that the police force is disciplined, reliable and on the side of the victims of crime, then there would be no street justice. So it all comes down to LEADERSHIP! But the fact that we don`t have leaders, for now, does not mean we should let the world treat us like some inconsequential tiny islands

You are confusing a country which frowns on criminality with a country where criminality and corruption is a way of life. The argument is not about if there is crime in any country, (because every country has crime), It is about the manner and how does society respond to it. You would never see in America, people setting suspects on fire and a mob is formed and then they put it on the internet. And you never see it's citizen saying "yes. na God catch them" on Forums. You will never see a policeman standing in the middle of the streets collecting bribe all day like it is his job to do so. Nigeria is a lawless country where it's people don't complain when it's own people do injustice to themselves but complain when a country tries to enforce their own laws. That is the point.

Then you have missed the point. Everything you said there is true and I accept as some of the features of today`s Nigeria. But what we are contesting here is the proper reaction of a country to external injustices. My point is, that should not be determined by any domestic lawlessness or challenges. The response should be thorough and robust in order to send out a signal that, regardless of my domestic challenges, you wouldn`t disrespect my country or citizens. We should all, as Nigerians, agree on this.

And they shamelessly put it on the internet.

Trust me, I don`t argue in order to score points; I argue in order to inform. I`m sure you would accept that the people that have been killed through mob justice in Nigeria are likely to be up to twice the number that you and I know. Don`t forget that this is about the need to always speak up on issues concerning and affecting fellow Nigerians abroad. You are of the view that, considering we are so barbaric that we set petty criminals on fire, we don`t have the moral authority to complain too loudly when rough justice happens abroad
Now in the United States, the total number of people that the police had killed this year till last Thursday 28-07-2016 is 673. So from January this year till now sophisticated United States through her police forces has carried out 673 illegal killings. Please comment!

From your reasoning, the fact that murder rate is high in America, or that American police murder unarmed blacks anyhow should mean that when Americans are wrongly accused or executed abroad, America shouldn`t complain, right?

I was a young boy inside the main bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, in 1989. The main attraction of that World Cup qualifier was Sam Okwaraji. It wasn`t because Okwaraji was an international lawyer, or that he played abroad, rather it was his humanity and humility that had made him a house-hold name in Nigeria. As far as he was concerned, that he was a good footballer had nothing to do with him, it was God`s decision. I believe Okwaraji was the closest we came to having our own Maradona
The captain on that day was, of course, Stephen Keshi. Angola was turning out to be a difficult proposition than everybody had thought. Keshi came from no-where to head the ball into the net, 1-0 it ended. Well, long before the match started, the area we called `The Covered Seats` then was already overcrowded, so we knew there was problem. Then Okwaraji was brought from the other side of the pitch to that very area after he collapsed, and was there for ages before he was taken in an ambulance to the hospital-shockingly, he died later that day!
So it was quite an eventful match for me; the only one I ever watched in that particular stadium
The Stephen Keshi of that day was tall, handsome and impressive. He left the New Nigerian Bank to become one of the first, if not the first Nigerian to play professional football abroad ( first in Africa then in Europe) .He would go on to become a successful manager that won African Cup of Nations as a player as well as a coach of the Super Eagles.
It was a big surprise when I saw him the last time, the day Nigeria played Italy in a friendly international at Craven Cottage. It is one thing to surrender to the tyranny of age, but it is another thing to look like a hungry soul from a war-ravaged country.
But that can`t take away the fact that, Stephen Keshi was a trail-blazer by any standards of measurement. A leader as a player, a role model as a manager; an indisputable Africa`s number one, in the field of football. The best leaders are often born with the natural talent to lead, Stephen Keshi was a natural!

I remain of the opinion that the children and family of Stephen Keshi should take Amaju Pinnick and his NFF to court, for playing a role in Keshi`s death. When inhumanity of man to man is ignored, it encourages further inhumanity.
Nigeria buries a star son today, but from Benin to Belgium, from Lome to the United States of America, Stephen Keshi shall continue to live for-ever

The real people you should rather be shaming are those guys who chose to do drugs in a country that executes drug traffickers on yearly basis. They knew the law, they've seen previous executions, yet their love for quick blood money wouldn't let them reason out other legit means of livelihood. Nigeria govt didn't send them to do drugs in Indonesia.

The truth is, we don`t need to waste time blaming them because they are dead or serving life in jail. But leadership is about responsibility. In America, innocent African-Americans had been sentenced to death before for crime they didn`t commit, and if miscarriage of justice can happen in developed countries, you can imagine Indonesia! Therefore, I keep on saying that a large number of Nigerians are facing punishment for crimes they didn`t commit. Buhari and his fellow cavemen are paid to govern Nigeria, so I`m not making any outlandish demands to say that he does what he is being paid to do, which include making sure that Nigerians are not used to boost the statistics of crime by politicians that want to be seen to be tough on crime and criminals. Those that are waiting for Albanian visas in Nigeria can afford to be tribalistic, but I challenge anyone that is well-travelled to come up with the statistics in ANY country in the world to support the illiterate assumptions that Nigerians are more prone to criminal activities abroad than the rest and that challenge is an open one.

Cattle what?

During the last round of executions, a Brazilian and two Australians were executed. Both the Brazilian and Australian government sent in high powered delegations to beg for their citizens. The Indonesians just simply said...Thank you for coming....and continued with the execution.

This has nothing to to with tribe. Even if PMB cousin or child is among the convicts, there is nothing that can be done.

The life of a Nigerian anywhere in the world today is as cheap as ten for one kobo. Out of these five Nigerians, at least one of them is likely to be innocent of the crime in question. Moreover, wherever true humans run a country, you don`t allow your citizens to be executed abroad without anyone from your embassy putting in appearance. Even after the sentence, it is a standard practice for you to put a word in for your citizens.
When did you hear Nigerian government fighting for their citizens abroad, from the days of Obasanjo through to Jonathan till today? We have too many clueless leaders running Nigeria. Somebody said if you have humanity, nothing else matters, if you don`t have humanity, nothing else matters. But then, why should I be talking about humanity? Yoruba and Igbo sold their children to the white man in exchange for packets of sugar for over 300 years. We are just like our ancestors!
