As rightly pointed out above, the transformer debt is a separate issue. The quit notice is another matter which you can challenge legally.

But NOBODY can force your landlord to pay transformer debt to community. At best your case can draw attention to the disco and maybe NERC's intervention. NERC has always warned against residents buying transformers. At best it's done by goodwill or donation. It's your choice to donate or not (not pay).

7 years ago, I moved into an apartment in the middle of a 6 months blackout due to transformer issues. The community have divided the money to be paid based on size of apartment and type of building. My 1bed flat then was 15k but I vehemently refused to pay on the ground that it's not my duty and I recently move in. In the end, 2 big men got separate smaller transformers and connected some of their neighbors, the community raised over half of the amount and one of the big men paid the balance. Meantime everytime PHEDC will deny that they didn't ask anyone to buy transformer. They attempted to repair the old one, it didn't work before the community finally bought theirs. In the end, the area became better and has now been upgraded to band A. More pains though. 😂

But looking back, I would have paid except that the electricity committee weren't looking like serious people then. I later became friends with most of them though.

The koko of the matter is that, you and your landlord don't have any business with transformer. So what are you going to do in court? 😂

The disco will even deny your community that they didn't ask anyone to contribute. Although we know that's the way to go to resolve transformer issues ASAP else y'all will be in darkness for months or years.

It's within landlord's or tenants right to contribute or not but you'll still face the consequences like being disconnected or evicted.

Go settle with your landlord and join your co-tenants to meet him halfway. Else, vámonos!

When we say common sense is far from being common, this is an example. 24 hours electricity with prepaid metre is all that is needed. The prepaid put you in control of your power consumption.

All over the word, wherever there is 24 hours electricity supply, people control its usage.

Consumers know that there is direct connection between the bill and consumption. But in Nigeria, there is no correlation between what is consumed and the monthly bill for those on post-paid metre.

Until they give you 24/7 electricity with a prepaid meter, your house will be in darkness. LoL
When I was living in Band A light area in PH, power rarely went off for more than 20 mins in 24hrs. We can have light for days.
But guess what, I have neighbours who won't even put on the outside light for there to be light in the stairway.
I travelled and left the house for some friends, they were recharging 5k or 10k, and were wondering why it finished in 3 days.
They will be turning off fridge and ac even though it's an inverter AC, and I have changed all the fans to rechargeable. I was spending 60-100k monthly before I left.

It hasn't ended, and things have stabilized. Some people who have undergone this process with us have resumed contracted positions. We will congratulate the main guys who have done BC and medicals in Q1 '26, that's if they don't get it as Xmas gift. Cheers!

Even assigning SMEs to come conduct interviews and panel sessions is considered as loss of man hours. Sometimes you have to provide logistics, hotel, flight and accommodation and also pay them out of station allowance for those not resident in the location for the accessment.

Your only hope at interview level is that you might be added to the next round if it's a company that recruits back to back.

Else, if they've not gotten back to you at any stage, it's better to lower your expectations.
