ghostwon: Bro, there is no historical link between Benin empire and ife village (unless ife was once a province of Benin) all the issues story is totally made up, the Edo side and the Yoruba side. Benin empire has records which date back to 600 years ago, no mention of ife and no mention of yoruba, just Benin empire. The word Yoruba came to existence not so long ago. I think in the late 18th century. You won't get any truth by asking questions to the random delusional fool on nairaland. Some of these people on nairaland are mentally ill. So just go to school, travel to Europe and visit it's museums, they have all our actual records. Also learn how to properly reason, that is lacking among many Nigerians. This atigba of a person is obviously suffering from mental illness. And you are expecting him to tell you who you are ? This makes me wonder who is crazier among both of you.
The binis are Yoruba migrant from Ife to Igodomigodo around 12 century AD.
You opened your account on nairaland today
I guess you are one of those Yorubas living in Benin who are strongly to create new identity for themselves. It won't work, is too late.
You are from Ille Ife
Uhe nonbioba
Your king are from Ife and you are probably a descendant of those who migrated with Orominyan from Ife then.
Sarah20A: am from Benin and by God grace am planning a dna ancestral test in the nearest future.i would like to know the real truth between the yorubas and the Benins, since my father's family claimed to be one of the chiefs that escorted the prince to ile ife and escorted his son back to Benin if that story was true they would have definitely married yoruba women and brought them to Benin and I would like to uncover the truth through DNA test because in my father's village they speak like the yorubas and the Benins mixed together but they are recognised as binis
A significant percentage of Benin are Yorubas from Ife.
ghostwon: Stop misquoting the data. There is no difference between "Bini" and "Esan". It is the same people from the same precolonial country called Benin empire. Just two different cities of the same precolonial African country.
Esan and bini are not the same people, the binis are Yorubas from Ife for the most part.
JuanDeDios: No. This proves to those who think the Esan came from Bini that they have it wrong. We know that the "second wave" of migration happened during the time of Oba Ewuare when many people left Bini and went to Esan. We know that when they got to Esan, they met people, a fiercely republican people, there. How did those people get there? Lazy "historians" have always filled in the gap by telling us that there was an earlier wave of migration from Bini, the "first wave". Nobody has proof of this - it's just an assumption that they must have come from Bini because where else could they have come from? Now, this finding proves that wasn't the case; it proves that the Esan are likely older than the BIni.
Esan people are not from Benin, any body who claim that is ignorant or an idiot.
When I refered to Igodomigodo, I wasn't talking about Benin. Benin kingdom started around 12 century with Ife migrant, before then people have been living in Igodomigodo for thousands of years.
oshozondii: The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2019 governorship election in Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri, has been sworn in as governor.
His swearing-in comes a day after the Supreme Court sacked the former governor-elect of Bayelsa State, David Lyon, and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo.
MelesZenawi: And same people are edos/binis like you. So all might still be same.
Balogun has no meaning in my language
I know all the families that migrated from Ife to our land and I know their greetings.
A stranger cannot be telling us our own history all because of supremacy. Fabricating and disturting our history is the reason why I took my time to write here sometimes. Some few persons in our land who their ancestors came from Ife are trying all they can to destroy our history and link our entire population to Yorubas. Meanwhile they are just 2%.
One of the reason I like the Europeans, they document their history no matter who it favours. Germans killed millions of Jews, they document it. The Spanish killed all the black slaves after slave trade, they document it. Same with all other European countries. They are not proud of what happened, they document it so that the next generation can learn from it.
Why cant we Africans do the same, why are we always trying to fabricate lies for political and ethnic supremacy.
Dartilo: Pls tell us d name of the Portuguese explorer, because all those dat came in contact with the benins are all recorded... What their name the Portuguese dat trace wat he brought..lolz
Where did I assert that Portugueses that meant Benin said Oduduwa browse casting was traced to Sudan?
Dartilo: The 36 ogiso of igodomigodo was ogiso owodo who had only one son know as Ekaladeran, upon d dubious advice by a priest he was told to sacrifice his only child(Ekaladeran) to save his pple and he was taken to ughoton forest to b excuted but d executioner pitied him and told him to run far away,he ran to a new place called ile ife(dis is a benin word meaning i ran and i escape) and he told d pple dat his father was ogiso(meaning king of d sky) that explain d reason the pple tot dat he fell from d sky, every king in Benin upon ascension to d throne must chose a new name so e change his name to izoduwa(meaning i hve chose my path of prosperity)corrupted to oduduwa, the last ogiso died without a successor..
Dis brought war in benin, everyone claiming lord ova their own domain,so d pple elected Edayi( meaning caretaker or interim govt in Edo) headed by a man called Evian d greed for power made Evian to mke his son successors and d pple oppose..
Den news came to the palace dat Ekaladeran who is now oduduwa was not executed so d pple decided to look for d legitimate heir, upon wich d oracle was consulted and oduduwa was found...
Stop writing fake story, fabricated by Erediawa
Non of our history state such, and our Ogiso Awodo was childless.
Again, we don't sacrifice humans in Igodomigodo
It is yoruba people from Ife that brought that culture to our land.
