makano: Hello Atigba
I am sure you already know the answer to your question considering the state of our country Nigeria..
Throwing back to 2012- 2013, getting Canadian study Visa was not an issue at all.. People do not have to develop high Blood pressure cos of Canada study Visa, it was almost certain you would get it.. Those times, you do not even have to pay a kobo for school fees before you are issued a study Visa, your LOA was enough, even POF wasn't taken with all seriousness the way it is now .. But so many Nigerians, or should I say Africans took this for granted, they get their Study Visa, get to Canada and refuse to study and they claim Asylum, the government give them all they want, they don't even need to work..
Until when IRCC got to know about this, that was when all these strict rules, delayed application started.. Now from 2016 till date, many Nigeria applicants submit Fake Statement of account with their application all thanks to the counsel of these Evil Visa agents, reason for the reoccurrence of PFL amongst Nigeria applicants..
So IRCC has actually marked Nigeria and many Africa countries in it's black book, so any Nigerian applicant is a suspect..
So that is why they do their thorough "Investigation" on every Nigeria applicant to see if nothing fraudulent is attached with the study permit application. That is why it takes longer for any Nigeria or African applicant in general to get a final decision from IRCC.. They will need to be thorough with these application cos they are very careful with the kind people they allow in their country, that is why Canada is one of the best countries in the world, that is why the country is safe for all, cos they are mindful of the people they allow into their country..
Permit me to say that we are the ones that caused this for ourselves, with the rate at which scam and fraudulent activities are rampant in Nigeria, no country needs to be told that they have to be through on Nigeria applicants, so no one can blame them..
Just imagine if all these Yahoo boys or applicants that use fraudulent Statement of Accounts, just imagine if they are many in Canada, you know what the end result will be..
Lemme stop here for now..
Peace It's a sad situation I pray things change for Nigerians in the future |

I have noticed here it takes alot of time for a study permit visa application to be processed in Nigeria.
Why is it so?.
Is it peculiar to Nigerians or Africans only?.
Because, when I did my biometric in Stockholm today. I asked the babe how many months to process my study permit application. She said 4 weeks maximum.
I also noticed they don't ask for medical and police report in EU.
Why are they giving applicants from Nigeria headache. |

makano: Hello MrsOwoks
To the bolded, even if she does her Medical examination a day before her delivery, she cant fail her Medical Examination..
I had an applicant, who applied when she was 2 months pregnant, she got her Visa when she was 6 months pregnant and gave birth in Canada.. So for those asking the question if pregnancy will lead to a refusal, the answer is a BIG NO..
Peace Pregnancy is not a disease |

EuniqueBabe: Hello Makano, please can you shed light on the pros and cons There is no pros and cons anywhere Use the new portal. Old one is outdated. This is my first time of applying for a visa in Canada and I was surprised they are still doing outdated application process of filling forms. The new portal in Canada is what every advanced countries used for visa applications. I have applied for a visa in so many western nations. Again..use the new portal. |

Greetings my people
Will a delay in capturing my biometrics cause a significant delay in getting a study permit decision from the Canadian embassy.
I submitted my study permit application on the 28th of January and I booked a biometric Monday this week in Stockholm. Unfortunately, a few minutes before I arrived at the venue, I got a call from the officer in the office. The babe said they were told to close the office till further notice. All their staff catch COvi19, including herself.
Which kind wahala b this. Had to turn back.
I am waiting for when they will resume again. |

PatrickOkunima: Having a sibling in Canada does not affect one's chances. We have seen applicants with two siblings in CA getting approval. We have also seen applicants without siblings in CA getting refused.
If you have a sibling in CA, you must indicate in the family information form. Doing otherwise you will be telling a lie, and if they find out? The new application website, there are no options for sisters, brothers. Just wife or husband, then father and mother. |

I will get my permit on this thread God willing.
Help, I need an advice.
I am uploading required documents on the new application website.
The space to upload documents is very few. It only contains:
Admission letter
Proof of fund
National ID
Passport
Letter of explanation
I have so many documents left over, that I was hoping to upload to assist my case.
What should I do? |

Crystal10395: There are no forms, you just answer the questions accurately and submit all required documents.
You would need to apply for "visitors visa separately"
While starting, you were asked if you're making a group Application, the answer should've been yes. You mean one don't need to fill those forms separately and upload in the new application website. Please, can I have a link to the new website |

(c.) Family Information Form (IMM 5645 or IMM 5707) My brother the forms are confusing. This is what I have here with me. 1. Form IMM5483 - This is like a checklist you need to tick to reaffirmed you have submitted the required documents. 2. Form IMM1294 Application for study permit made out side Canada. 3. From IMM5707 Family Form. 4. Lastly, Form IMM5257, Schedule 1. Application for temporary residence. In this form, I am to fill it if I said yes to any of the background check. These are the forms in my table. Should I fill, save and upload them in online application?. Is there any other form?. Also, inside the form IMM5257, the background check. If you read to understand, you would realise I never mentioned that the moniker must pay for living expenses..
What I said was that the sponsor should show commitment by paying part or full school fees and the funds for living expenses should be transferred to the account of the applicant....
How will you pay for the living expenses of a country you haven't entered yet.. The sponsor should put in the funds into the applicant's account and clearly state it in his Letter of Sponsorhip.... ³ Please let's be guided..
Peace Okay I am self sponsor |

TeeMade: Well said @ Legacyedition.
I went through JR and honestly, I'm glad I did. Especially when it became obvious from comments on the 1st and 2nd refusal gcms notes that the refusals were based on unfounded bias which were majorly: 1. US visa refusal after child birth (note: all fees were paid and evidence provided as part of supporting documents). The refusal was simply as a result of the then US government strict immigration rules/ban especially against African countries at the time, of which Nigeria was one of them but the VO made it sound as though I did something wrong which lead to the US Visa renewal. I had to debunk this bias so a JR was needed.
2. My educational progression. My course is an MBA and my specialization is completely in line with my career path. So a refusal based on this reason made it very clear that the VO's decision was not based on documented evidences set before him/her.
The above amongst other comments like, I already have a child didn't just add up for me cos how does having a child stop a woman from furthering her education if she so wishes to do so.
The handwritings were very clear and my lawyer did a wonderful job of addressing every single bias in a very punchy manner, I was excited when I saw my case file and yes I learnt alot.
In the end, the judge stated that he/she does not understand why my application was refused based on the documents provided and scheduled a hearing. They conceded after seeing the decision of the judge and thank God it has ended in praise.
It was quite a wait of about 9 to 10 months (plus the impact of covid) but everything picked up pace from the time they conceded and I'm glad that all the bias have been cleared out and my record is clean. God kept me through that waiting period oh cos it wasn't easy.
I said all the above to say that, if you can afford a JR with an assurance that the submitted application was well put together and based on your lawyer's advise, then go for it. There's little or no trust for us, hence, the low approval rate. This makes it important for us to push back when a decision is clearly bias and unsatisfactory.
I will still share my timeline soon. Na busy busy dey delay am.
It will end in praise for everyone awaiting PPR... How can one hire a judicial review when you dont reside in Canada. Or you did it from Nigeria |

makano: Hello bola
The sponsor simply showed total committment to the study and living expenses of the applicant, all through the applicant's stay in Canada..
The sponsor paid full school fees, transferred the full living expenses to the account of the applicant and some extra funds..
The sponsor drafted a Letter of sponsorship to explain all this with evidence and also an Affidavit of sponsorship... The sponsor had in the past sponsored the said applicant, so I advised the applicant what the sponsor needed to do and she listedned and got her Visa at the end of the day..
Mind you, they didnt do any of this in the previous refused application, they thought cos they had 50Million naira, the Visa officer should know there is plenty of money... Which is a very wrong assumption...
So to the Millionaires in the house, do not assume that the Visa Officer seeing millions in your account will automatically give you Visa cos you have money.. You must do a break down of the availability of the funds for your study and also total commitment to your studies all through your stay in Canada..
Like I always say, Its one thing to have Billions in your account, its another thing to show and convince the Visa Officer that the said Billions will be available and totally committed to your studies...
This is Canada study Visa Application and not UK study application..
Peace Is it compulsory you must pay your living expenses before you apply for visa. Part payment of tuition should be enough. |

Ketima: 8 months course is regarded as 1 year course and as such requires a visa. So long as the course is more than 6 months, you will need a study permit. Yes 1 year course gets visa. So many applicants here going for a year course have secured their Visas and are currently in Canada studying. Thanks |
