PoliticsRe: The Proposed 18 New States And Their Capital by Atonto: 10:41pm On Jul 06, 2014
emeka94: Most stupid resolution the confab has made second only to the incredulous idea of rotation of presidency. Are these people blind or just plain selfish and greedy. Resources is scarce and corruption is thriving more than oil yet you still want to create more states. USA that's as large as what I don't know has only 50 states. By the way Nigerian govt claim to be copying America's style of federal governance. Creation of addition states will only make the center stronger, the states lazier, fragmentation of Nigeria and break up of ethnic groups and families. Of what is the reason behind dis creation of states?!! I can only see selfish reasons and selfish reason and selfish reasons. If 36 isn't working how will 54 work? Give LGAs autonomy, reduce the powers of federal and state govt and create city councils not states. please!!!. City councils will ensure the participation of ordinary men in governance, men that I can see and touch not governors that drive up and down in latest SUVs causing accidents and traffic jam. Tufiakwa. God save Nigeria from this old men and women.
God bless you emeka94...you just save me a whole lot of typing. You have said it all....once again...God bless you my brother for the wisdom filled comment.
CrimeRe: Have You Ever Been Scammed Before??? Share Your Experience. by Atonto: 10:03am On Dec 06, 2013
Nearly got scammed...ori lo yomi. I was seriously looking for a befitting 3BDR bungalow in Lagos, and i got to meet this guy who claim to be an agent. He took me to a house in Maryland - Mende area. The house is not yet completed, still remaining some patching up here and there, in fact i met people working on the interior fittings. To cut the long story short, seeing that i was really eager to pay the 1.5 million - the house rent, he promised 2 weeks for the completion and warned me to pay on time as their are many suitor ready to pay but as he see me as a young and responsible guy, he will let me have the house. He gave me the account number to pay 1.5M into but says he would prefer cheque or cash. On my way to the bank with my friend, we decided to have a second look at the house...the look that save me. Lo and behold, we met a guy in the house who claim to be the brother of the owner of the house. He told me with proof and evidence that the house is not for let, and that he was there because of the stories he heard concerning people claiming to have paid for the same house and waiting to pack in once is finished. I put my hand on my head Chei.. I was told as well that the so called agent is in collaboration with the carpenters working in the house. A spare of the key with them is what they give the agent to fake access...I called the number he gave me but no response... that is when it dawn on me that the guy is a big scammer and he already know through his spies that oka ti fo, i just thank my star ...

PoliticsRe: El-rufai Replies Jonathan - Kindergaten President; Childish Handlers by Atonto: 1:07pm On Aug 15, 2013
deeptesting: I thought El-Rufai was a technocrat,he is the one playing the Ethnic card to curry cheap political favor and not the reverse as claimed on the report of Governance and Sustainable Initiatives Ltd.,entitled Analysis and Lessons of the Current Geopolitical Distribution of Federal Appointments. Jonathan has refused to follow ethnic and tribal lines in given appointments to avoid having square pegs in round holes as we have had in previous administrations that have brought us to this state of quagmire..In decent democracy appointment is not about ethnic group but about who can do the job perfectly and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people irrespective of your ethnic group. The question is, Should the President appoint unqualified and incompetent individuals as Ministers just to pacify Ethnic groups or should he appoint qualified and competent individuals irrespective of your ethnic group to deliver on his electoral promises? El-rufai is a cog in the wheel of progress of this nation who continues to think and see Nigeria as a national cake that all geo-political zones must be equally represented to have the largesse shared equally...
Are you telling me that Bayelsa can provide more qualify and competent individual than the rest of the states mentioned?
You must be a joker like Jonathan himself...

slimghost: And your point is? Its obvious you have comprehension problem. Am not disputing the validity of the election exercise, all i asked was "how did Amaechi become the NGF chairman in the first place?" but i guess you cant answer that. FYI, dude came there as a consensus candidate as no election was held (the constitution they adopted had no room for elections). But guess what, the power drunk fool rushed and amended the constitution giving room for elections and re-election without the consent of all the governors. Truth is, he came as a consensus candidate and now Jang is the NGF chairman as a consensus candidate too. Let him deal with it. One problem i have with you is that you always let your hatred for GEJ becloud your sense of reasoning.
Tell me why did they accept the voting according to the available evidence...?
Are they under spell?
so why crying when the head is off.....leave all this ungodly excuses.

EducationRe: 2 Killed At OOU Student Protest by Atonto: 6:01pm On May 20, 2013
ZUBY77: The organizers of the protest are not prudent. Nigeria is in a very delicate security situation now. The Soldiers and Police are being killed in large quantities all over the Country.. Katsina, Adamawa, Ombatse, Bayelsa, East and West. They are angry and will not hesitate to show that anger with every little provocation.
Students dont also hold anything near peaceful protest. Here in Nigeria, a larger percentage of students believe they are untouchable especially when they belong to all this petty cults.
I was coming back from Abakiliki to Enugu sometime last year and the students of EBSU blocked the single road to Enugu. I spent over 4 hours inside the car while the army negotiated with them. They broke bottles, pushed sign posts down, harrased passengers and every other thing.
They should not expect kid gloves all the time.

This is a bad time to provoke security operatives
Is there any sense in your post...does that give the so much "assumed" trained security personnel to kill student because of protest.... i wish one of the slain student is your brother. Why can't they - the Police, vent their anger on the BHarams that killed them. Afterall, this insecurity is caused by police...they allow everything to come through our border after collecting bride.....go and sleep jor

Nairaland GeneralWesley Snipes Released From Prison by Atonto(op): 6:54pm On Apr 08, 2013
The "Blade" star, who was convicted in 2008 on charges that he failed to file income tax returns during a three-year period, was released last Tuesday from a federal prison in Pennsylvania, according to The Associated Press

Snipes, 50, is now under home confinement, which will be overseen by the New York Community Corrections Office, until July 19.

The actor served 28 months of his three-year sentence.

Snipes entered prison in December 2010 after being convicted of tax evasion. He belonged to a group that challenged the government's right to collect taxes. Prosecutors say he failed to file returns for at least a decade and owed millions in back taxes. He lost his appeal in an Atlanta court.

Snipes has appeared in dozens of films, from "White Men Can't Jump" and "Demolition Man" in the early 1990s to the "Blade" trilogy.

I wonder if things like this can happen in Nigeria where some people are above the law, at least for some times. Most of our Rich and celebrated people in Nigeria break law with impunity and go without being punished.
PoliticsRe: Buhari - No Difference Between Boko Haram And Niger Delta Militants by Atonto: 3:15pm On Apr 02, 2013
Ask average Northerners and they will tell you.
If not that they are in support stylishly how come our JTF is finding it difficult. Don't sit in lagos and tell me that Boko haram is forcing religious on them....who might tell.
Sharia to average Hausa is a way of life...dont judge from afar.
Meanwhile, did fighting against marginalization also mean you should kill at will?
mekaboy: Since when did imposing religion on others become the right of any group or region in this country? So u call forcing people to join their religion their right? Think talk .
PoliticsRe: Buhari - No Difference Between Boko Haram And Niger Delta Militants by Atonto: 11:24am On Apr 02, 2013
If you say they are not the same... i wish you live in ND when militancy reign..then you see that they know no bounds when carrying out their destructive act. Can anybody tell me what have change in the ND. Nothing. Some bunch of criminals, after killing innocent people are now on the Govt payroll, while in the same ND we have law abiding citizen lying jobless, homeless, and futureless. During their time (ND Militant) they create insecurity, and kills at will. Therefore, tell me what is the difference. You can say because of marginalization, injustice or wealth control. But my question is, did anything change since the amnesty?
Boo,...they are the same jor ...one motive is to rule his people with sharia, and the other one motive, is to control its resources. but they both kill innocent people.
Fed Govt should not have grant any amnesty to any ND militant cos they are killers. It is just like paying ransom to kidnappers. You are encouraging more to join.
Buhari is right in the perspective of criminality and insecurity which is the responsibility of the Govt to tackle.

PoliticsGrand Style Coop - Inec Refusal To Register Apc. by Atonto(op): 9:40am On Mar 31, 2013
This is what i just read from INEC, excerpt from LEADERSHIP newspaper

“No association by whatever name called shall function as a political party unless the names and addresses of its national officers are registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission. A close observation of your submitted form PA 1 established that it does not contain the addresses of your national officers as stipulated in the provisions above".

“Consequently, the commission shall not register the proposed African Peoples Congress (APC) as a political party.”

But the protem chairman of the party, Chief Onyinye Ikeagwuonu last Thursday said the move by INEC would be contested in court, adding that they complied with the provisions of INEC in filing for registration of their party.

I think this is a Grand style coop. At the long run, INEC register APC (All Progressive Congress), and APC (African People Congress will contest in court, then the Court will adjourn the case (as usually practice in Nigeria) , few days to election court rule against INEC, and lastly, INEC that like to follow rule of law dissolve the two party... CASE CLOSED - GBAM. This is my view of the whole scenario. What is your opinion?
SportsRe: Odemwingie & Complete Sports Editor Fight On Twitter by Atonto: 6:01am On Mar 26, 2013
prof.femi:
Don't underestimate how much damage the young man known as Osaze has done to his career. A few months ago here on Nairaland, some of us were stating the obvious: Osaze was undisciplined. Folks gave all kinds of excuses. Okay o. No be today them born us. No be him be this now? The child who insults his father in private will eventually 'graduate' to start barking at all authority figures in public, and will finally get dealt with the way his father refused to.

For those of you still defending him, you should start praying hard for him instead. There's still a lot of damage he could do to himself. He hasn't reached rock-bottom yet, although he seems intent on getting there through this his stupid twitter account. I hope he changes, but if he doesn't, and he finds his once-promising career gone, he will have no one to blame but himself...and those who refused to tell him the truth. Ogede n baje, won l'o n pon (the plantain is rotting away, yet you insist it is just getting ripe).
You are right in some area, get me right, i did not support or condone bad habit, but i will not join the bandwagon to bring down others. Everybody has there area of weakness, the Rooney of Man U, the Walcott of Arsenal, the Balotelli of ManCity did same. My point is he should try to improve and prove his manager wrong for not playing him. As for the editor, he should learn not to jump in the heat of the game. Is he a LEARNER?
SportsRe: Odemwingie & Complete Sports Editor Fight On Twitter by Atonto: 2:01am On Mar 25, 2013
At this point in time is not when Oga Editor at the top need to scold him. We all know that he Osaze has attitude problem but it is still manageable. Let leave him alone, he is an adult and will surely come to his senses and apologize if TRULY WRONG - Mind you he might be right in some way. Now everybody want to crucify him. He need our support to overcome what he is passing through. I wish the Editor understand. Being the biggest in 9ja does not mean you should help to ruin people career. Surely Osaze will overcome.
FamilyRe: Punishments You Served While Growing Up When You Do Wrong by Atonto: 9:56pm On Mar 22, 2013
Traffic Warder punishment. You stand on a spot, spread your arms out to control the traffic while you keep rotating at that same spot as if you are controlling traffic at a 4 way junction. with one hand, you pass the traffic in one direction for a while while keeping the other hand straight in a stop position to the other direction. you keep doing this and keep changing direction after few minutes non stop. Meeehhnn, i bet you, it pain more than koboko.

why don't we allow government to work, let the police do their findings first, let the law take its cause. Remember some people loose love one soul as a result of this bastard monkeys that kills for money.
