MyNewJackeT:No wonder they have commited the highest number of sectarian, ethnic and religious killings in the history of Nigeria |
Neddstark:If you cant see anything wrong in being in one country with people who commit murder because of provocation then you need help. If provocation was a good reason to kill another person, nobody would be alive on Earth by now. |
Nice one! |
YOLICOM was always a waste of time. Everyone south of the River Niger knows thst the Yoruba nstion is not serious about leaving Nigeria. YOLICOM was just a way for some Yoruba youths to make the usual noise which they have become known for. But when it comes to putting spoken words into action, they will disappear. Let YOLICOM organise street protests and go out and take bullets from the Nigerian security forces like IPOB have done in the past if they want to be taken serious |
Neddstark:So why would you want to be in one country with people who commit murder? Or did they brainwash you into believing that provocation is an excuse for murder? |
omoeko001:Biafra is about Igbos living and present in Igbo land, not about Igbos living in China |
The reason why IPOB cannot do what SNP did in Scotland is that Nigeria is structured differently from Britain. Britain practices full fiscal federalism with devolution of powers to the 4 Region of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. So the Scottish National Party (SNP) only had to fight to win enough seats in the Scottish parliament for them to use their majority position to pass a motion for a referendum which was granted to them in 2014 But in Nigeria, we run a unitary system. Even if IPOB became a political party and won every political position in the SS/SE area, it still would not be able to secede because it would have to go to Abuja and move a motion at the National Assembly which will be voted down by the other 4 zones who would want Nigeria to reman one. Nigeria will never be restructured, the North will never allow it. So IPOB is left with no choice but to use pressure tactics such as demonstrations, election boycott and civil disobedience to get Nigeria to grant referendum |
MayorofLagos:Dont say what you dont know. I have seen old pictures of Sir Louis Ojukwu in his Rolls Royce when he was going to court (he took the colonial government to court) |
What are the federating units? |
My take as an Igbo man. I dont care how well Igbo corpers have been treated in the North. Nigerian history tell us all that countless tbousands of Igbos have been butchared in the North since 1945. Waves upon waves of remorseless genocide. How many Northerners have ever been killed in Igbo land? Not a single one This is ONE NIGERIA for you People keep trumpeting that Nigeria is highly blessed with human and natural potential, all that remains is for us to get our act together. Only a united people with a common cause can get their act together and the ethnic groups thst populate Nigeria arw neither united nor do the have a common cause. We are divided along religious, tribal and and traditional lines. What ONE NIGERIA means to a Yoruba man is not what it means to an Igbo or Hausa man. Unity is not something that is forced, you are either united or you are not. After 103 years as a country and 57 years as a nation, if we are not yet united then we are wasting our time together. Therefore, Nigeria cannot work as a nation. Nigeria is just the mere creation of the white man, we dont have a common goal, common philosophy, common interest or love for each other. It is only fair then that we all give something else a try. The Igbo nation should consider becoming independent. A failed independent Igbo nation is much better than a failed Nigerian nation. At least, we will have our sovereignty and destiny in our hands. |
Its good that Chibuike Amaechi has finally come out to tell the world that he is an Igbo man. Let this be a warning to all the morrons out there who will ask "Is Rivers Igbo land?" Parts of Rivers is Igbo land |
Graduated at the age of 18? That is rare |
Ebubedike Biafra! Na ga n'iru! Anyi kwu gi n'azu! |
QTEST007:What do you mean it cant be true? Who doesnt know that it is the the Hausa/Fulani core North who control Nigeria? The only peoole who stood up to them were Igbos and some minority tribes such as Ijaw. They rest of Nigeria willing chose to be their slaves |
For a minute there, I thought it was going to be one of those "we are not part of Biafra" statements that certain minorities use now and again to attract cheap publicity. It is quite unfortunate for the Urhobo nation. They want restructuring but it wont be up to them if Nigeria is ever restructured. They dont have the luxury of seceding as this can only be achieved by any one of the 3 majorities as they are the only ones who have the numbers to pull it off. In a essence, this entire statement by UPU or should I say Urhobos can be summarised as "We Urhobos want a restructured Nigeria where we control our resources and politics. We are aware that the North will never allow restructuring to happen in Nigeria so we have resolved to become minority slaves who will eternally beg the North for control of our own resources. Hopefully, 200 years from now, when North finally find Oil in the North, our slavery status will finally be lifted and Nigeria will be restructured" I laugh in Swahili |
maclatunji:They resolved to buy you a new Tooth Brush |
Look at how the Northern Youths were given full Police 'Horseride' protection At the same time this was happening, an Igbo man called Charles Oputa AKA Charlie Boy who denounced Biafra, was almost being tear gassed to death by the same Nigeria he believes in |
Obiano should be ashamed of himself. He went to the hospital and confirmed that people were shot and killed. Instead of him to come out and condemn extrer- judicial murder that took place under his watch, the Champaign drinking Governor went to inspect Onitsha Mosque. He is now running around with Ojukwus face on his dress campaigning for second term. But at that crucial time his people needed him, he kept mute and disappeared from the scene. Months to the election, he confesses. Obiano is very lucky that this boycott is not about removing him from office. |
Terkimbi01:Sorry bro but people like Nnamdi Kanu only emerge amongst those who seek self determination |
aribisala0:I guess nobody told you that Northern Ireland had a referendum in 1973? Britain is a civilised country that does not hold people against their will, unlike Nigeria. Referendum will never come politically the way Nigeria is constituted because even if IPOB forms a political party and wins every political position in the SS/SE, it will still come back to a Nigeria National Assembly where the other 4 zones will vote against the disintegration of Nigeria. A complete waste of time. The only way to get referendum is to keep up the protest, keep boycotting elections, putting the pressure up until Nigeria collectively decides to give Biafrans a referendum |
Eykillz:All this is nonsense talk. Who is open to attack? Igbos are well over 40 million people, much greater than the population of many countries in Africa. Gambia is less than 2 million people. Igbos are over due for their own country |
Eykillz:Look let me tell you something. Unity is not by force. If it is by force then it is no longer unity. Nigeria should be by those who are happy to be known as Nigerians. Those who wish to go a different direction should be left to go. |
Nice one by Uche Mefor, able IPOB deputy leader |
Deadlytruth:Dont make me laugh. Which of the 4 Regions of old wasnt a "multiplicity of tribes"? The Midwest is gone forever and in the event of Nigeria restructuring or disintegrating, we Igbos are are not going to part with one inch of Anioma. |
Look at Charlie Boy almost gassed to death while protesting for a better Nigeria but the Northern youths are given full police escort. Everything in life is negotiable except the eventuality of death |
Im between 30 and 40. Got married last year and Im expecting my first issue. The way I see it is a man should check 3 things before he gets i to marriage. 1) Marriage is not a game for boys, it is for men. If you are still a young boy chasing everything in skirt, living the high life, partying hard, coming back late. Marriage is not yet for you. It is when have become a man and everything is no longer about 'living it up', thats when to consider marriage. 2) Finding the right person is not easy. Finding wife material is not easy to even talk about who you jell with . I searched for years, so many disappointments. I will never advice anybody to marry for the sake of marrying because if you rush into marriage without taking the time to study and find if your partner is right for you, you could be crying for a very long time. 3) Finance. You dont have to have all the money in the world but you have to have some sort of financial stability. I feel it is better that a man achieves all these 3 points at 45 and marries and is happy rather than marry at 25 and is misreable for a long long time |
maclatunji:We will have to give independence a try and what happens. If we dont try, we shall never know. |
Look at these fools. Which one is "we are a distinct people"? You have several tribes in the old midwest, so what is distinct about it? |
olayanju22:You mean the one Major Ademoyega, Captain Adeleke and Lt Oyewole participated in? |
win2kwire:Jos Riots of 1945- Hundreds of Igbos killed Kano massacre of 1953- Hundreds of Igbos killed. This was long before Nzeogwu. So tell us again who sowed the seed of hatred right after you tell us who still wants ONE NIGERIA? |
